Absolutely horrible acoustics & seats very uncomfortable
A bit of an attitude from everyone to be honest. The food was good not great
Wouldn’t go back due to the attitude, loudness, bad seats and average food
The best Italian food in the Valley ... if not all of LA! The owner Armando is as charming as can be and the staff are excellent!
Always consistent food and service Great neighborhood spot
Armando and his amazing team provide an authentic Italian experience w fresh ingredients including the best fish, meats and homemade pastas. Like a trip to Italy in prime Sherman Oaks. A wonderful lunch spot as well open weekdays and quiet. Treat yourself!
Ate an AMAZING tagliatelle with lamb ragu. Service was excellent. Nice soothing ambiance.
🎁 Dinner at La Cava was everything we wished for and more. The hot bread, the seafood salads, the pasta bottarga, the chicken milaneze, everything was out of this world delicious, the Berta Rose wine complimented everything just right. Thank you, La Cava, no wonder, you guys keep us coming back again and again. 🍷
We can't wait to go back. We felt like we were in a restaurant in Florence Italy. Excellent service too.
Food was dead average or less. Salmon over cooked and dry. Side dishes - spinach and chopped tomato - unimaginative. Could have dined better at The Cheesecake Factory for about 1/3rd less $. Will not let you sample a wine by the glass selection. Charged $22.00 for a glass of wine that was o.k. Top it off with a $6.00 parking fee (no validation) Will not return.
We were a party of 6 for my wife's birthday. Apart from 3 other tables we were the only others there. It was a Tuesday night at 7:00, and most restaurants are slow probably.
The service was excellent, the chairs uncomfortable, the food mediocre at best.
The food is so authentic and delicious and the waiters are so accommodating.
Food was delicious. At the beginning service was very friendly and attentive. Then different employees would start to deliver the food and they kept on bringing it to the wrong person at the table and we said we didn’t want to split and they started to give us plates and start splitting food. They charge $2.50 to split a plate. They apologized after they put pepper on the wrong person‘s salad and had to redo the salad. Then thry continued to bring the plates to the wrong person at the table.$20 for salad seemed very high though an interesting combination of artichokes and fennel, it lacked some greens.
It's a great place to have dinner and enjoy the excellent food and service while setting back and enjoying your meal.
This restaurant had a very nice atmosphere, quint. The menu was simple but had a nice selection of options. The food was prepared very nicely, my only recommendation would be to add less salt !
My first visit to La Cava. What a terrific surprise! This was a last minute decision to try La Cava. It's small. Wonderful service from the moment we entered. Food was first rate with a perfect portion size. Ambience is classy Italian. I had scampi with pasta. Perfect. Desert was incredible. We will definitely return. Highly recommended.
Best Italian we’ve had and right in our new neighborhood.
The service was good but the restaurant was just too noisy and our table for two was smack in the middle of the room and I feel we could've been sat in a quieter spot. The food is average and a bit pricey.
Still love La Cava and “still” is important. Speaks to consistent great food and some of the best service in town.’
The food and service are always 1st class. It's a great place for a glass of wine, dinner and relax.
Came here to have my mom’s birthday lunch. We were joined by a great friend from NYC. The food and service was top quality. We will definitely be going back to La Cava!
Each visit is excellent. Great food and the staff are warm and inviting.
There were 7 of us and we had a nice table. Noise level was low and everyone could enjoy conversation. A fun time.
We had a pleasant experience, at times it felt like we were being rushed to order - it was either too much attention or we were truly being rushed - a little hard to read. We LOVED the bolognese, the rest of the dishes were fine as well. Overall we felt that it was overpriced for the experience.
Excellent food and great service. Quiet enough for conversation.
Great meal. Excellent service. Wound up shouting across the table. Volume always taints and experience. But at least you weren't playing rock music over it all.
I have been going to La Cava for years and years. When my family comes from NYC, they always insist on going too. It reminds me of the sort of restaurants I grew up with that are my favorite: elegant but not fussy, cozy affairs, with the most delicious, fresh, incredible food. Try the Ravioli in Salsa Rosa — this dish is everything!
waiter was really great, amazing Barolo wine, shrimp was a plus! Highly recommend it. Italian without attitude!
GOT THERE ON TIME...HAD REQUESTED A QUIET TABLE OUT SIDE ON OPEN TABLE...THERE WERE IN FACT 4-4 TOPS OPEN THROUGHOUT, WE WERE TOLD BY THE OWNER VERY ADMITTEDLY THAT THOSE WERE RESERVED, AND IN FACT WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A RESERVATION AS WE DID NOT RESPOND TO A CELL PHONE CALL CONFORMATION???....HE SHOWED US A TINY 2 PERSON TABLE LITERALLY AT THE FRONT DOOR IN THE ENTRANCE AND IN AND OUT OF THE PATIO.
AS IT WAS SAT. NIGHT WE SUCKED IT UP---IT WAS HILARIOUS. PEOPLE WALKING INTO US, SERVERS ZIPPING PAST US, AND LITERALLY ON TOP OF THE NEXT TABLE....HENCE WE SAT AND NO ONE AT ALL SHOWED UP PERIOD FOR THOSE TABLES. ...HOWEVER.....THE OWNER REALIZED WHAT HE HAD DONE AND MOVED US-HE GETS A STAR FOR "GETTING IT"-THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD AND INSANELY EXPENSIVE -2 PEOPLE-SALAD AND PASTA-2 OVER PRICED GLASSES OF CHIANTI 1 DESSERT-OVER $200 W TIP AND PARKING AND AGGRAVATION....HMMM NOT RACING BACK. THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT IS THAT GUSTAVO IS AMAZING AS IS THEIR OTHER WAIT STAFF.
Excellent food and service, a really good Italian restaurant all around.
Great authentic Italian food & great service.
Daughter’s 16th Birthday
It’s is a nice little Italian restaurant. Food and service was above average. Very tiny space though and not much of a privacy and rather load. Regardless, given the opportunity we will teturn for some decent Italian food.
The food is excellent! It has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Valley.
🍷🎂🥂 What a beautiful evening! The fresh baked bread, the pasta botarga, the seafood salad, the artichoke salad, the milaneze, the perfect rosé, the desserts, the warm, friendly, knowledgeable staff, the atmosphere, everything made a belated Valentine dinner absolutely divine. A most wonderful experience! Thank you, La Cava! 💝 We will be your regulars. All our friends and acquaintances will know about La Cava.
We understand that Valentine’s Day or any holiday is more challenging but we saw tables around us getting much better service. We usually love this restaurant but the food and service was not up to its usual standard.
Enjoyed a very pleasant lunch
This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The owner was incredibly rude to my wife and I when checking in. We arrived 20 mins early to give our name and he dismissed us. After we sat down, it took the waiter 25 minutes to take our order and by that time they were out of the veal chop. I called the owner over to ask him what else he recommended as he was out of what I wanted to eat. He said " I don't know what you want me to do about it" and walked off. I thought his prices were high 45 dollars for steak and veal chops. There are so many other better restaurants for those price points. I ordered the lemon caper fish which was so-so, lacked flavor and slightly fishy. When the bus boy spilled the plate all over my sweater, I asked to see the owner again and he refused to come over. when I said I wasn't paying until he came over to speak to me, he finally came over and threatened to call the police. I simply wanted to tell him about my sweater, but he yelled at me and my guests. After he caused a scene all the other patrons were shocked at how poorly he treated his customers. In addition, he was rude to his wait staff. I will never return.
In the book of "HOW TO GET A FREE MEAL IN A RESTAURANT" you have tried every single way possible. Just so you are aware WE DO HAVE CAMERAS on premises and the waiter spilled nothing on you. When you threatened NOT TO PAY YOUR BILL of course we would call the police and advise you of it. Your wife then said" "Shove the bill up your a%#. s When you misrepresent the truth, it turns into slander and defamation, and legal action can follow. La Cava Management
Great experience at La Cava as always! We will be back again for sure!:)
Fantastic food and service.
lovely quiet atmosphere with authentic italian food. loved the ravioli and they were flexible with sauces. excellent professional wait staff. perfect evening for romantic or group of friends dining.
I enjoyed the friendly warm atmosphere for lunch with family. Staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating on this rainy day. Food was fine although not memorable.
