No Out-Door dining. STAY SAFE!
The LA CAVA concept is based on Armando's roots. Born and raised in Florence, he grew up learning that as a local, one would go dining in the little Osterias where everything was made fresh daily, prepared with basic ingredients, simple recipes, delightful flavors and lots of love, for a fantastic experience that was also "gentle" on your wallet.
Pasta e Fagioli
White bean soup
Pizza al Salame
Tomato sauce, mozzarella & pepperoni
Ravioli in Salsa Rosa
Homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach & ricotta in a pink sauce
Wonderful food and services!
Food was outstanding — I had the ravioli. Staff was attentive. Owner was fine but had a rude”edge” to him. I made reservations weeks in advance and noted in Open Table that it was a birthday celebration. When first got there, our reservation was checked and then there was some concern of the owner who was by the door about us eating inside or out, and would we be done in an hour and 45 min., said something like “ you don’t think you will finish in one hour, 45 min?” Well….most likely we will, but we just got here and it’s for my birthday, so…. (we were out in about an hour, by the way, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that part of it was because we felt rushed… food did come out super-fast as well which was ok… but contributed to the rushed feeling, if that makes sense). We sat outside and the plastic canopy “window” wasn’t tied down and with the wind, it kept hitting my 13 yr old daughter in the back/arm. She said it was fine but a waiter noticed after about 5-7 min and somewhat tied it down (still hit her from time to time).
At the end of our dinner, the owner came over, talked a little to us, offered dessert. My daughters said no, but I said, “c’mon, it’s my birthday” (my not-so-subtle way of telling owner). He repeated my statement, gave me options, I chose cheesecake…waiter came back with tiramisu with a lit candle in it and started singing. At this point I couldn’t bring myself after singing and blowing out a candle to say, “oh, btw I ordered the cheesecake”. Took a few bites, I made my girls eat some, got the bill (in which they charged me $14 for the tiramisu), paid up, and left. We are from Cleveland; we are vacationing in the L.A. area. Not sure if we didn’t look “classy” enough (it was just me and my girls; we were dressed nice but clearly not “special”) but felt like we were an inconvenience to the owner, who was very present with most customers. I made these reservations two weeks ago…this was hardly a last minute decision. :/
Love this place so much . The vibe, food, music , everything is so amazing .
Always great food and fantastic service.
Good food. Good service.
It took over one hour to just get our salads Two couples came in after us and had their dinner finished before my Salad even showed up. Food was decent but I will not go back
Perfection. Great service, friendly staff that made me us feel special and of course the incredible food. Highly recommended!
Great dinner. Service was a little slow but everything was worth the wait. The three of us shared a burrata/tomato appetizer and that was just right. I had the prawns which are amazing. Can’t wait to go back and have them again!
Food is great. Service is great. Best restaurant in the Valley. Armando is a gracious host. Cannot go wrong here.
Pizza with truffles was delicious
Our third time back! We love this place. Food is excellent. Service is excellent.
Excellent service and great food. We got a pizza and a salad
Great atmosphere, good food, very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I’ve been back multiple times now and will be back again very soon! Highly recommend
The food was amazing. The server was fantastic. But, the maitred was mad that we didn’t confirm with open table, I never got a notice to confirm so they almost cancelled our reservation. Is there a way to to confirm?
Outstanding service. Great food. So glad I was able to take my family to this as our first dine in restaurant experience.
Very cute and cozy restaurant with great food!! I had a stroller with a newborn and the entire staff was extremely accommodating with where I was able to sit to fit myself, the stroller, and my family. The food was great as well- did not take long to receive.
First time dining there, excellent and attentive staff, food was great!
Haven't been back to La Cava in a while but it was a joy to return. Great server. Food excellent. A bit noisy but very much worth the trip.
Great ambiance, the food was fantastic, the staff were amazingly attentive and friendly.
Took my mom here for Mother’s Day with my siblings and my kids. Party of 12. I had originally made reservations with separate tables do to covid. Life happens so only 7 of us showed up. They accommodated us so we all sat together.
Let me tell you!!! From the moment we walked in, their amazing servers, manager and I’m sure owner of this cozy little place. Treated us like royalty. From beginning to end. So attentive to all our needs! Most places you go only the one server they assign to you is the one tending to your needs. Not here! Everyone was amazing!! Food was delicious. We had 2 bottles of their fine Prosecco. Kids had pizza, we had a variety and all were excellent! I highly recommend this very intimate place. I’m sorry it took me this long to leave this review! I’m definitely going back on a date with my boyfriend 🙏🏽🧡
We were greeted by a very gruff man who said upon us entering "wait a minute". No Hello, nice to see you, etc. We were shown to a table right next to the plastic door that kept hitting us whenever the wind blew or someone went in or out. We asked for a different table and the only option was all outside with no covering at all. The service was fine but the food was subpar. Olive Garden had more taste to their dishes than La Cava. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Ernesto was amazing at making Mother’s Day dinner fantastic. Food was delicious! We will be back soon
Went there for Mother’s Day. The food was good however the restaurant needs to update the decor. The prices on the menu are high so you expect the setting to match the price. The only complaint I have is the restaurant constantly pushing expensive water bottles and not even asking if tap water is fine. We spent over $20 just on water! When we got up to leave there was a full bottle left on the table!
Quality authentic Italian food that never disappoints!
Owner doesn’t wear a mask. Food was okay, go somewhere else tbh. Seating was meh.
Great food, but the service was exceptional! Highly recommend La Cava.
Awesome and amazing food!
We were seated right away since I had a reservation even though we were late. The host was very friendly and attentive at the beginning and the other staff were nice. The only thing I was put off with was that it took them a while to take our orders. Granted we were waiting for my boyfriend to arrive but I mentioned that we were ready to order to the guy filling up our water glasses and he went to grab our waiter but it took him a while to come to us to take our order. I do want to say that our appetizers and bread came quite quickly. And like I said, the initial service was prompt. However, we ended up waiting FOREVER for our food to arrive. The host (whom I assumed was the owner or manager) was actually sitting with a family next to our table taking shots. He did come to us and told us our food was coming shortly but it didn't. He told us this 3 times and finally close to about 10pm (we got there at 8pm) we got our order. The host also poured flat water with my sparkling water but immediately replaced my glass and got another bottle of sparkling water (which was $8.50 btw) which he then charged me for even though I didn't ask for another bottle. They did provide a complimentary dessert and sang happy birthday to my sister which was nice. Overall, I might try this place again because the food was authentically Italian and everything were delicious. I just hope the service will be better next time. I also have to add that parking is difficult though there is a valet available.
Seriously outstanding. Best pizza I’ve had in california. My elderly mom with Altzheimers who never likes anything was loving every bite. The service was incredible. The salmon and the salads and deserts. Yum!!!
Get the specials. The breads and salads are terrific. Nice service as well.
The food was delicious! We both had the seafood pasta. The bread was tasty and delightful.
Food and service were wonderful. Delicious dishes and great menu options. Only downside was we were seated on Ventura just out of the reach of the plastic barrier so the car noise was not great. That being said we’d go back in a heartbeat as the food more than made up for the ambiance and we can chalk the seating up to Covid. Next time we will try to be seated indoors or inside the covered patio.
Food was great. Wish the tables had been spaced out further. Noise was high because #VenturaBoulevard.
Great neighborhood place with pleasant outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Great Italian food. Would love a bigger wine list by the glass but overall a terrific place!
La Cava is a small, very good restaurant. We dine there fairly frequently. The fresh pasta is always good as are the salads with fresh mozzarella or the artichoke salad. The wine list is short but has many acceptable wines at reasonable prices. Last time we got the Rosso Di Montalcino, which was very good.
This is our second time having dinner here and I don’t think I can ever get tired of it. Amazing service and the food is delicious!
Treated like family
Great service great food
Amazing experience! Would definitely recommend to go back!
