Beautiful outdoor setting, especially as it turned into evening. The lighting was charming and the heaters took off the chill. Meals were terrific - taste, appearance, quantity. Service was friendly - we were told the restaurant ran out of bread at 7:15, but our server cheerfully managed to find more, somewhere. We live here and had out of town friends visiting, so they asked him to take a photo. He graciously agreed. It's a new world these days, so am delighted to report Casa Sena is as wonderful as ever. There no prettier outdoor dining in the city!
Fabulous food and wine, great servicep
We will follow up with a letter detailing our experience
Having had a wonderful lunch-time experience here before, I was not disappointed that the ambiance, the service, and the exquisite taste and presentation of the food had not changed. La Casa Sena serves the absolute best Salad Nicoise I have ever had!
Enjoy the patio and the trees, etc
We had a great table in a secluded area of the outdoor garden. The food was great as was the service.
One of my favorite restaurants in Santa Fe. Great place for a girlfriends lunch. Yummy food, great drinks.
Always enjoy La Casa Sena when in Santa Fe. The outdoor patio is so very pleasant and relaxing. The food is quite good and portions are plentiful; service was attentive without being intrusive
Have been going here for years but this is NOT the same restaurant. Menu has changed. No longer the fabulous New Mexican flavors. $50 pork chop was like leather. Giving a 3• for service because the server and the manager came over to offer to replace/recook. Veggie Terrine would have been better with more seasoning. Rather blah. A non-event at event prices! Lovely atmosphere though.
Wonderful place!!! Definitely recommend
Excellent as always. Excellent as always. Well, you get the idea
wasn't what we expected. thought we were going for New Mexican Mexican Food, turned out to be high end fancy gourmet.
Food was mediocre especially for the price. Very good service and beautiful garden.
Casa Sena has a charming setting, one of the absolute best in Santa Fe. And the waitstaff is friendly and knows their stuff. We had friends in from Colorado and among the many choices we had for their one dinner out we chose Casa Sena. They loved it. Quite tasty food and serene atmosphere.
Exceptional burgers and fries. And the beet salad with burrata was ample, tasty and beautifully presented. It was delightful to sit on the shady patio and be waited on by positive and happy, helpful wait staff. We will be back.
Haven't dined here in 10 years. It's gone downhill. Maybe it's the pandemic. Ambience (courtyard) is lovely. But service and food were meh, definitely not the fine dining experience we were hoping for.
Lovely courtyard dinner while on vacation in Santa Fe. Great food, service and ambiance
I can not recommend Casa Sena to others
My grilled banzano was delicious. Great service.
Great ambience as always. Great wine list and excellent sommelier. Food NOT great this time. Our last meal there was a month ago...it was excellent. This time tiny crab cakes for $24. Barely a bite. The tomahawk pork chop was small, overcooked and tasteless, except for the sauce. It was the size of a lamb chop...not well prepared and very overpriced. Very disappointing meal. We may try it once more, hoping this was can aberration.
We had a wonderful dinner. Paul, our waiter, had an excellent grasp of our menu and cocktail options. He was attentive throughout our meal, timed the arrival of each course perfectly. Elise, the sommelier, assisted us with wine selection that paired well with our meal. All of the food was delicious and presented beautifully. We were seated on the patio. It provided the perfect ambiance for a special night out.
I’m a repeat patron Never a bad experience
The mussel appetizer and elk dinner plate were outstanding.
Our food was quite good except for one meal. The steak was poorly cut and full of connective tissue and not correctly cooked to temp. We actually asked for a bottle of wine off of their extensive wine list but it had not arrived but the time we had our food. We asked our server where it was and was told the “the wine guy” had gone to get it from the cellar. We canceled it as the bottle was chosen to go with our meals. I suspect COVID has caused some staff training issues, so be aware and ask for the sommelier if you wish to purchase one of the better wines and have it with your meal.
Best thing about this restaurant is the amazing patio ambiance.
Food is pretty good, not wonderful and way, way, way overpriced.
Wait staff need customer service training; they were very hurried, moderately polite, again, the service and food do not correlate to the outrageous prices.. very good, still expensive wine by the glass, however, a generous pour.
Obviously one of my favorite restaurants has succumbed to the lure of the tourist dollar and left its local customer base behind, clutching our thin wallets! I booked for a reunion dinner with friends from out of state because I love the patio and the wine selections. The food has always been expensive, but now it has become outrageous.
Our waiter constantly walked away from us while we were talking to him, trying to get information about the menu. We expected (and deserved) his full attention. My friend kept asking for a beverage suggestion, because the custom cocktails are a bit foreign to her. Instead of assisting her and helping her have fun with the drinks menu, he would go away and come back and ask us if "we had decided yet!" The food was just acceptable, and the dessert I ordered, flan, came with a tablespoon of wilted chopped strawberry a mint leaf, and was rubbery and tasteless. They failed to turn on the lights in the trees until well past dark. Not only could we not see our plates, but it made it impossible to read the bill. When we asked for help, the waiter said" Use your cell phone." We did not happen to bring our phones to dinner. A novel idea! They ended up walking over to the bar with the bill. I was mortified when he made a big deal about it. I am so disappointed and could not stop apologizing for an evening which was supposed to be a warm and relaxing reunion.
My wife and I dined here for a Sunday lunch. Our only regret was that we waited until the very end of our 9 day trip to Santa Fe to eat here.
Service was very good to excellent. Our water glasses were promptly filled when empty (or approaching it). Our server (Maria) was helpful with answering our questions about the menu.
The food, however, was the highlight. The vichyssoise was delicious and perfect for a very warm day. The anise roasted beet salad featured both red and golden beets, along with other components and flavors that made for a memorable dish that was beautifully garnished. I then went on to enjoy an incredible bowl of mussels. The combination of classic ingredients with thinly slice red chilis and chorizo was a nice twist to a classic. And there was enough fresh baguette to sop up the delicious broth. It featured 12 huge mussels. We topped the meal off by sharing the Devil’s food cake. Moist, rich, and a great way to finish this meal.
We plan on returning to Santa Fe next year for two weeks, and we’ll definitely be dining at la casa sena (and more than once)!
I celebrated my birthday last night and it was absolutely amazing!! I initially wanted to go because their patio is covered in gorgeous twinkly lights and it was beautiful when they lit up at night. Our server, Fernando, was absolutely fantastic. If you go to La Casa Sena, you cannot pass up his amazing, attentive service. The food was delicious and the drinks were phenomenal. I will be back without a second thought :)
Totally excellent across the board!
Beautiful courtyard in a lovely setting. Food was just ok. Service was flat.
Lovely patio, efficient service, good food
Beautiful patio dining. Ruby Trout with Risotto and Asparagus was delicious. New favorite. The chargrilled Lamb gyro with cucumbers and tomatoes was great. Our server Maria was the best. Thanks to all who took care of us. A very memorable lunch.
We had a great check-in experience and a wonderful server—both of which were the saving grace for us at this restaurant. While I understand this is not a place one generally brings children, my well-behaved child loves fancy restaurants and “cocktails” (mocktails). We were on a girls trip, and I needed outside seating for her. She had an iPad with headphones ready to go too, so there would be no disturbances. So my first issue: I was SHOCKED at the level of ignoring of her needs we received. Usually at fancy restaurants, they try very hard to adapt meals to meet a child’s palate. Aside from my server, who was soooo kind to her, I had to bed a person dropping off my kid’s second entree to remove her first that she hated. The woman was honestly just nasty.
Then there was my food and drinks. My cocktail got sent back for tasting like a melted slushy, all the wines by the glass were described as dry (so no diversity at all) and all I wanted was a drink!, and my $50 beef tenderloin wasn’t even cooked to order so it was so well done I found it like eating a gross chunk of burger with weird sauce on it. All and all, we spent over $140 on making my daughter too scared to go to another fancy dinner here another night of our vacation.
I do thank the hostesses for changing my reservation that I messed up because that was so beyond nice! Great service. My waitress too was kind, attentive and great with my daughter. The space too was beautiful. Otherwise, huge miss.
Excellent service, great patio area. We found the trout a little bland and my steak a little overcooked.
Dining in the lovely courtyard was relaxing and pleasant. In spite of the loss of the giant cottonwood, they have landscaped to keep the feel of being in a garden surrounded by trees and shrubs. I arrived early for our 2:30 reservation and the waiter urged me to get my party to join quickly so we could order from the full lunch menu - at 2:30 the menu becomes abbreviated. We got our order in by 2:20 and enjoyed Niçoise salad made with fresh tuna, pasta with fresh clams and shrimp, and trout over mushroom risotto. We all tried some of the local beers on tap. All food and drink very good. We were so full we could not try dessert. Service was attentive in spite of the note at check-in saying that they were short-staffed and asking us to be patient. We enjoyed it so much we made reservations to return before our Santa Fe visit ended.
My friend and I sat in a quiet table near the edge of the patio in the shade at noon or so. Service was good and food delicious. I did think the iced tea tasted strange so they brought me iced coffee instead. My Moroccan chicken was excellent and my friend enjoyed her meal as well.
We loved the outdoor atmosphere here. We had to wait 15 minutes beyond our reservation but we sat at the outdoor bar and enjoyed a glass of wine. Out bartender was great, offered nice suggestions and was really nice. Once we sat down, our waiter was right on top of it. We ordered a hummus plate to start (very good) and then had the Branzino for our main dish, which was excellent and I highly, highly recommend! We loved our experience here and will definitely return when we visit Santa Fe again.
I used to love this place but unfortunately last night the food quality was poor. The elm shank was very tough. Bar services was very unfriendly and the drinks were weak. Incredibly not one person on staff knew the extensive wine list.
La Casa Sena has always been a wonderful Santa Fe outdoor restaurant, but now the food is getting better!
If you haven’t been there for a while, give it a try…you’ll be impressed!
