We dined at La Casa Sena the day before Thanksgiving with my in-laws who were visiting from Mississippi.
The service was top notch and our server was very attentive. Our food was spectacular. We had lamb, fish and tenderloin... everyone was very happy with their choice. The restaurant was very accommodating when we added 2 more to our party and to our 3 year old son. We will definitely return soon!
Two nights before our lunch we has a fabulous dinner at Casa Sena so decided to take a friend for lunch. The food was so mediocre, maybe a different chef? I was taking my daughter for her birthday and a friend who had driven in from Albuquerque for lunch so didn't want to start complaining and further spoil the lunch. The fish and chips with fries was no better than a fast food restaurant. My daughter ate about 1/3 of it. My friend had enchiladas which looked like a mess on the plate. She said it was nothing special but did eat 2/3 rds of it. I had the mixed green salad which was great. The added chicken was just ok.
I do want to say that when we had dinner of salads and lamb rack the food was fabulous.
So not sure if we should try again or not.
We always like dining here when in Santa Fe. This time they were below their standard. The wine service and table service were excellent. The kitchen detracted from the experience. The wait for our food was extremely long. Further, my wife ordered the Elk and the waitress said there was no problem of having it cooked medium. When our food finally arrived the Elk was on the rare side of medium rare. It was sent back and another extended wait. It was cooked perfectly the second time around. Ultimately the food was good and we hope this was just an off night for the restaurant.
One of the best meals we have ever had. The elk tenderloin was magnificent. We tried the roasted beet salad with the edible dirt - delicious - and the carpaccio. Everything was simply perfect. I would return here again and again. Great location, attentive service, lovely setting.
We were a party of two and enjoyed our dinner at La Casa Sena. We had the beet salad, two orders of the trout, and wine. Food and wine was very good. The only complaint on the trout is that the menu description did not match the food. The "artichoke risotto cakes" tasted nothing like artichokes and the flavor was overpowered by feta and black olives. Tasted okay, but not how it was described. Great ambiance and service.
We came for our anniversary and the food was fantastic. Maybe it was because of where our table was located (in the corner), but we had a hard time getting regular service from our waitress. For example, we had to wait a bit to order second glasses of wine, I wanted an extra side of condiment for my entree and had to wait at least 5 minutes until I saw her and we had to flag her down from a distance.
I have always been a fan of anything Gerald Peters launches. My wife and I was at one of his banks (Century) in Albuquerque and I meantioned that we were fans of Mr. Peters art and the branch manager gave us a tour through the bank, showing us the art on display, what a treat! La Casa Sena is a great experience, all around cultural experience, as well as great food!
We were looking for a nice restaurant in Santa Fe for Sunday brunch with options other than southwestern cuisine. La Casa Sena fit the bill. The restaurant has lovely indoor and outdoor options and the food was delicious. I shared the Salmon-coconut ceviche appetizer (definitely too much for one person). It was perfectly seasoned. My entree was the crab cake benedict. Both dishes were extraordinarily good. I highly recommend La Casa Sena.
Everything about my dining experience was exceptional. First of all I mistakenly reserved the table for the dining room when my intention was the cantina. The staff quickly corrected my error and went over the top to accommodate my guest and I. The wine, food, service and entertainment was more than I hoped for.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely, quiet and unhurried dinner in the beautiful patio setting. Very quiet and peaceful (there were many empty tables outside, as the cooler temperature may have led most diners inside.) Our server was appropriately attentive and respectful of our pace, not in any way rushing us. He also made excellent recommendations, unlike the unhelpful but common, "Everything is good here."

Everything we had was delicious. The merging of flavors was quite interesting. I had beets with edible dirt. Edible dirt turned out to be brown sugar ,nuts and something else which was actually quite delicious. My husband had tuna to ways which was also quite lovely. The place is very Santa Fe-ish and it was a lovely overall experience. The only downside to coming to this restaurant is finding a parking space. Luckily we were here in October where there was parking because it was 38°.
I love this restaurant and have loved it for many years. The food is consistently good, the staff is professional and the ambience is beautiful. The drinks are well mixed and tasty. It’s always a nice experience. If you eat in the bar, the waitstaff sings to you...lots of fun.
