Great service - felt very welcome and like part of the family. Excellent dinners - salmon, risotto, grilled calamari. Cheesecake was just okay, but overall I nice dining experience.
Our waiter was excellent - service is just as important as food quality.
Great service. Great food. Great ambiance. Perfect dinner and experience before the play.
Always excellent food, service and personable staff.
The staff at La Cantina and very nice and accommodating extremely professional and made me feel at home.
We had tickets to the nearby show and they were great about getting us out in time. Great Italian food and we felt it was a good value.
We had a lovely dinner before the theater. The restaurant has been around since 1955 and is still very enjoyable.
We flew into Chicago mid afternoon and this restaurant was within walking distance of the hotel. Being Valentine's Day, I made reservations weeks in advance. We arrived 15 min early and were seated immediately. We received a complimentary appetizer after we showed a business card for the concierge at the hotel. The service and food were quite good. I didn't score as 5 stars as my 'cannoli professional' husband mentioned he has had much better.
Very nice. Sat at the bar before dinner and were unexpectedly (enjoyably) joined by two friends. Restaurant was very good at easily and unquestionably finding us a table for 6 (we had a reservation for 4). Service was excellent at the bar and at the table. A great variety of food was ordered and everyone enjoyed what they had. Good food - Great service - Good time -- nothing more is important!
Seafood Ravioli was delicious and thanks to our waiter I got the Canniloni with white sauce on one and red sauce in the other. It was perfect. Will definitely return on my next trip back to Chicago!
Great food, ambiance, and outstanding service. Great place for Italian food and drinks.
Great food, vibrant Theatre crowd but service good and timely.
Wonderful Food and Excellent service, staff is friendly, caring and very knowledgable, food is excellent well prepared and served to your prefection! 5 stars!!
Great location but avg food and seating felt like dinning in a basement. Low ceilings and quite loud.
Great menu, server was excellent. Food was tasty
A pre-Hamilton dinner. Staff was very attentive to our needs, food was excellent. We told the staff we needed to get to the theater, and they got everything out to us without making it appear rushed, or losing any quality. Can't wait to go back and have a nice leisurely meal!
Great food, very quiet, great and attentive service throughout the evening. Would definitely come back and try different dishes, worth the drive into the city
Great food, great service before seeing Hamilton. Staff very attuned to time constraints for patrons with theatre tickets.
This is a good basic Italian restaurant. They were accommodating for one person in our party that need a special diet - no garlic or onions in the dish. The lasagna was different from what we are used to - no ricotta and mozzarella is an add-on. My husband's assessment: good but not the best he's ever had. Risotto ala pollo was ok, but nothing particularly special for me. Entrees do come with a salad, so cost was very reasonable as were the glasses of wine.
In our group of 3 we had a filet mignon, port chops, and spaghetti. They were all delicious! Our server was very attentive. Great dinner location if you are seeing a play.
Service was amazing - even brought us a piece of cake for our anniversary for free! Food was delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a date night!
This gem is one of the restaurants inside the Italian Village, and it offers a wonderful atmosphere and amazing food!
Awesome food. Excellent service. My wife and I eat here every year before we see the Christmas Carol at the Goodman theatre.
Great food at a good value for being downtown , we stop here often when coming down to see a show, have brought friends and everyone always enjoys it
Our server was outstanding ! She was accommodating, with perfect suggestions for every course. Such a pleasant young lady !
I had an Open Table Dining Reward and the manager indicated that it could not be used there as they have a "swipe"system, no key input. I told him prior to being seated that I had the Dining Reward and he said it would be used at end of meal. When bill came I was told I could not use it.
Our reservation was for 8:00 but arrived 1/2 hour early. We were seated right away with no problems. The service was very good. Our server, Ken, asked if we were attending a show to expedite our meal if need be. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. We asked to see the wine list which is quite extensive. Could be daunting so he offered to have the wine manager come and help us select a wine. We were fine but appreciated the offer. I ordered the Veal Marsala. It was good and what I expected. My husband ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. It was very good. It was made with panko crumbs which gave it a much lighter crust. Very nice. Plates were picked up quickly. We were checked on frequently by our server as well as the manager of the evening. All very friendly folks. We would definitely return.
Excellent service. Great food. We had two Caesar salads. Caprese with excellent tomatoes and mozzarella. Huge high quality pasta dishes. My wife says portions are too big which is true. Could easily share. Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely going back.
Great food and service! We eat at Vivere a lot and this place is in the same Italian Village building and the food was just as good and more affordable. We loved the pizza bread and pastas! Will be back!
Decided on going here due to the reviews and proximity to the Theatre District. Atmosphere was very nice in the basement. Surrounded by old brick the space was quaint and elegant.
As for the food I can’t say it was anything special. I had their lasagna which was a specialty on their menu. It was bland with over cooked meat, noodles and lacking spices. If you’ve had Olive Garden you’ve had theirs.
My daughter had the Meat Ravioli. I tried it and again very bland. I knew everything I needed to know when she said she preferred her schools meat ravioli. Really Hun?
If you want to be close it’s fine but since your in the city please go elsewhere. There’s countless other Italian options that are 5 Star.
We had tix to a show and this is a great place to eat and park. They expedited the meal and got us out with lots of time. Good food, nice place.
