La Campagnola Ratings and Reviews
"La Comp" is local to us, and we eat here 4-5 times a year. The food and service are always top rate. This visit, my wife had the duck, which she's had before and loves, and I had the ribeye special, which was cooked correctly and was accompanied by some excellent augratin potatoes.
second time here and food has been great both times. We were a group of eight and everyone enjoyed the meal. The room on the first floor is more conducive to conversation than the tables on the second floor which seems louder to me. Our server was very friendly and informative and did a great job for us. My only critique was that the desert took so long to be served coffee has become cold by the time desert came out.
I usually have good experiences here but this past experience left me wondering if I’d return. The Service was inattentive and hurried while the chef found it challenging to cook a piece of meat properly. The manager was very helpful in the end. It felt like we were eating in a diner with the whiz bang here you go service and not following up nor handling issues well.
The staff was exceptional, very attentive, courteous and efficient. Food was plentiful and very good. However too many tables squeezed into dining room area and too close to the kitchen. It was a bit distracting seeing the staff constantly move in and out of the kitchen. Otherwise great place to eat.
Our dinner was excellent, and our waitress, Kim, was phenomenal. My husband started with an appetizer special of steamed clams & mussels in a white wine sauce. It was scrumptious! My entree of Chicken Parm & his of double bone-in pork chop we’re both excellent. We also loved the Spiedini which is their homemade version of garlic bread stuffed with mozzarella & then baked...to die for. The desserts of warm apple pie & double chocolate cake were delicious.
Our table was ready when we arrived. My friend ordered a classic Rob-Roy and said it was perfect. We did'nt order appetizers since we knew portions were going to be generous. The bread was crusty and delicious as were the salads. The chef here does really great Deavolo dishes. My seafood pescatore was great. Plump juicy shrimp, mussels and clamms done just right and lump crab. The red sauce was very delicate so the seafood taste shined through. My friend's shrimp and calamare deavolo was the best he has had. His wife's salmon was very good and the portion size was large. My wife's special was very good. It was brasied short rib with homade pasta in a rich brown sauce. The service was very good and when we said we wanted a liesurely meal they took thier time. Although prices seemed a little high the high quality made it feel well worth it.
We always enjoy our dinners at La Campagnola and have dined there many times. The food is consistently good and also a good value. The steaks are quality and always cooked exactly as ordered and the potatoes au gratin are fabulous. The service is top notch and always entertaining. This is one of our go to restaurants when entertaining friends from out of town.
Just a perfect dinner. Garlic rib-eye cooked to perfection, au gratin potatoes and swapped veggie medley for sautéed spinach ($3 up-charge was crazy high, but I didn't mind too much) My wife had the crab cakes which were all crab! Nice wine for me and flirt-ini for my wife . Shared chocolate cake for dessert and it was completely perfect!
