La Calle Doce Ratings and Reviews
This was my first time here. The food was great at fita in with other comparables. It was a bit noisy and the waitress would bypass you rather than get you attention for an order. She may have had an off day but overall it was a great experience. Ideal would be not at max capacity.
I wanted seafood, I have lived in the Cancun area for many years and was disappointed with our seafood choices - vuelva la vida, ceviche and agua chile were all soso. We did enjoy the fried panela cheese - that was out favorite dish of the day. I will return one day to try the seafood soup which was the dish that was recommended to me!
One of my favorite restaurants in the Oak Cliff area. Always has great food and great service. It was my wife's birthday, and the waiter made us feel especially important. You certainly want to check out the menu, and the ambiance is wonderful. One of the best Mexican food restaurants anywhere!
Wife and I had diner Saturday night at La Calle Doce fro first time. She has a gallery near there in Bishop Arts and this was a pleasant find. Excellent seafood menu with a few beef and chicken options fro "landlubbers". We got there at 9 pm and it was still hopping. Great service and our waiter Jose was attentive and offered great suggestions . I had their signature salmon dish and loved it, wife went with beef enchiladas and said they were great. Their salsa and chips was perfect and the Verde salsa was fantastic. I don't know how I haven't heard of this place before now , but we will be back !
I've been dining here since I was a kid. I recently came back to Dallas and brought my family for some down-home Mexican sea food. Everyone was courteous and respectful. Our food arrived on time and was warm and delicious.
Lots of room for large groups and banquet style events. If you're lucky you'll be seated in the original house structure which is more quiet and better suited for more intimate/cozy dining.
The live music was a nice touch -- and a staple ever since I can remember.
It's not clear to me why The Simpsons was playing on the TVs in the background, but I think that had more to do with the upcoming football game -- we were seated near the rear bar.
La Calle Doce was great! The location is easy to get to, service and food were great, and the margaritas are awesome! Great place to go for a break from the normal tex-me and get Mexican seafood done right. Plenty of stuff on the menu for those who do not prefer fish as well.
Experience was very disappointing. Went to La Calle Doce with another couple to celebrate our anniversary. They put us at a table in the bar area, next to the kitchen. The night was spent trying to speak over the noise of the bartender's blender and/or wait staff rushing past our table to and from the kitchen. The food was nothing special and they clearly did not have enough staff to handle the number of customers...I can't recommend La Calle Doce based on our experience and we won't be coming back.
I have been going to La Calle Doce for 25 years+. The food has always been good, the service impeccable, and the setting comfortable. On this particular visit I tried the Mango Mojito. It's awesome! I also had the Tres Amigos seafood tacos. Yum! I'll continue to go back for another 25 years if I live so long!
From the moment we were promptly and warmly greeted at the door, the dining experience was terrific. Victor, our waiter was engaging but not overbearing. Food arrived quickly, and was presented as expertly as it was prepared. It still feels like you are dining in someone's home, but that's kind of nice. We have dined at the Lakewood location and love it too, but for other good reasons. This is truly one of the best of Dallas.
What a wonderful find for us! The food was fabulous and Alma, our server was AMAZING! She's been at the restaurant for 25 years - that tells you not only what a fabulous restaurant it is but also how this family-owned restaurant has loyal, dedicated employees! The ceviche and paella were absolutely delectable! And the icing in the cake was being serenaded by the wandering guitar artist! Overall it was a great start to a wonderful evening! We will definitely be going back! Oh, and try the margaritas with a shot of sangria! Yum! Hats off to Alma and the entire La Calle Doce family for a wonderful dining experience! 👏😊
Wondering why it has taken me so long to visit La Calle Doce. I've been by the Oak Cliff spot many times. Met a special friend for dinner, she picked it by the way. I've never been big on Mexican seafood. Well, I am now! The Filete De Mojarr was delicious. I'll definitely be back to try the other seafood items. The hostess was a sweetie especially when she saw it was my first visit. Our waiter, Don Peter, was the best.
A great evening was had by all. Food was excellent and staff friendly and fun. Eight of us were all dressed up in 1920s attire for birthday evening out and staff had fun right along with us. It was my second experience with La Calle Doce and both were a culinary delight at exceptionally reasonable prices. The wandering troubador was an excellent touch on an evening of find dining and fun. Thanks for making my birthday special.
The food here was very good. This was our first visit and we learned we do not need an appetizer. The portions were great! We were pleasantly suprised by the $6.95 margarita price. We also learned with those, we only need 1 !
What I did not like-at all-were the screaming children. It was just one child....there were at least 3 screaming at large tables. It made the visit less than desirable which will lead us to not visit the restaurant very often.
