La Briciola Ratings and Reviews
The staff at Briciola was top notch - extremely friendly, flexible, accountable and willing to work with us on a large group (22) without the hassle of contracts and F&B minimums - that is practically unheard of in SF in this day and age. They seemed to have quite a lot of local neighborhood regulars as well. The food was superb. The service was great. I will make this my go-to with future business group meetings.
We were at SFMOMA and wanted to meet our daughter in SF for dinner. We found La Briciola online and since it had positive reviews and was within walking distance, we thought we'd give it a try. Very cute, quite good food - I echo an earlier reviewer who said the lasagna was the best he had ever had and the prices were reasonable.
We had an excellent meal with excellent service. It is nice to find a restaurant that you can actually have a nice conversation in without yelling at your guest to be heard.
Sauted calarari was perfectly prepared and generous. Soup was excellent and the sausage in it enhanced the flavors. Swordfish dish was perfect to split for two people.
Great as always. I have been here often, and it is consistently superb. Everything is very good. I believe that there is a passion for excellence in the food preparation, presentation, and service. For all of these aspects to always be exceptional shows that the people here love what they do. They always make me feel welcome and are so kind and pleasant.
I just love La Briciola! I recently moved out of the state, and came back for half a day. I made sure I spent some of those few hours right here at this jewel of a restaurant. The Bay Area has some very good restaurants, but this is my favorite.
Thank you Gian Luca and the entire staff for providing such a great dining and gathering establishment!!
We walked to Briciola from BART for a pre-theater dinner (worth the walk). The warm greeting at the door set the tone for the whole evening: attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. My husband had rack of lamb, which was cooked perfectly. I had baked halibut cooked in a tomato sauce. The only miss on that dish were the potatoes which were cut as thin as chips and were overpowered by the sauce. If you're tired of overpriced, noisy, pretentious restsurants, take a walk south of market to this lovely little restaurant.
We enjoyed our first visit and will definitely return. All dishes were fresh and homemade - the fresh bread and olive tapenade were a yummy start. Sauces were creative and complimented the dishes perfectly. Not the prettiest neighborhood, but the interior is surprisingly cozy, clean, and quiet. We will return because there are so many dishes we want to try.
Reviews were so good, I had to find it. Totally worth it. Go there for the bread and olive oil alone. Salad was fresh, and had perfect pepper on it. The veal was amazing. Staff could not be more helpful, welcoming and accommodating. May go back there today.
We were at the end of our family San Francisco trip and I was in the mood for authentic Italian like we find at home in VA. I asked Dominic at our hotel for a recommendation and he recommended La Briciola without hesitation. After we finally found the place (our cab driver got lost so I had to call the restaurant), we were seated at a table in the back and enjoyed a lovely bottle of red wine with our fabulous meals. The owner/manager waited on us as well as another who made sure our water glasses were always full and we had enough bread. The bread was served with an olive spread that my very picky eater son devoured! I could not believe he was eating olives! At any rate, fabulous meal for our last night in San Fran...would definitely return and recommend.
This place is quiet, unassuming and fantastic. The food is great, the service is friendly and speedy, the ambiance is good. It has a fun "old world" sort of feel that reminds me of restaurants in Italy. Which makes sense since it's run by Italians. I've eaten here three times and each time has been delightful. If they have the lasagna special, order it!!!
It was an early evening reservation, the restaurant was empty and our group was seated very closely to the only occupied table of noisy crying babies and children that were running around. Not conducive for an adult business dinner. The waiter asked if I would like to move however the wine and bread were already served and the conversation was already in process.
A group of 6 of us made early dinner reservations before heading to see Hamilton. We were the first in the restaurant (5:15 pm) and I was a little worried, but other groups of 8, 12 soon joined. The food was simple and fresh, tasty. Large menu selection. Enjoyed the dessert, recommend the mixed seafood grill and warm chocolate cake.
The Caesar salad was among the best I've ever had. Flavorful, not overly dressed with anchovies on top. I had swordfish and my friend had ravioli. Both were delicious, well prepared. The meals here remind me of what you would get at a good restaurant in Italy - nothing fancy, just decent, fresh food well-prepared. This was my second visit and the service was wonderful on both occasions.
We had a lovely dinner here last weekend. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious and moderately priced. We were able to walk here from The W. The atmosphere is quiet and authentically Italian. The lasagna was excellent and was a large serving. We had leftovers and could have shared an entree and added an appetizer.
This was our second time here and it was consistently good.
I chose La Briciola to have a quiet get together on a weeknightn with three very dear colleagues and two of their spouses. It was everything we could have wanted and our waiter from Tuscany made outstanding wine suggestions; with each bottle better than the last!
