Chef Daniel Bojorquez has created a menu which has culinary influences rooted in the same countries as many of the residents of East Somerville. We invite you to enjoy old favorite dishes such as the prime rib meat cart and the fully loaded sweet potato or new dishes like the grilled lamb chop.
La Brasa is a Mexican Steak House and Grill, located on Broadway in East Somerville adjacent to its sister restaurant Fat Hen.

La Brasa is ALWAYS our go to. The food is incredible and the people and service are phenomenal.
The food was excellent - we ordered about 6-7 different small plates/apps). Their cocktails were also amazing and interesting. Fun/cool atmosphere although we all though too loud (high ceilings make it noisy with crowds). Service was a little slow at first (wait staff was working hard, just spread too thinly), but then it seemed to settle in and then very attentive staff across all servers. All of us (foodies on our crowd of 4) would definitely and highly recommend!
On the pricey side but worth it! excellent tacos, chicken wings, and Mexican fried rice- Skimpy on the wine pours and pricey cocktails but the excellent dishes are worth the trip to East Somerville..
Chewy raw meat served as medium rare. Basically, not good steak. Side dishes that tried to hard, some good.
Interesting menu with good bar menu, bread with unusual spreads, great wood-grilled meat and tasty side dishes. Very lively and quite loud. Highly recommend.
La Brasa has a relatively recent addition to its weekend dinner menu: a bone in rib eye steak with red wine jus served with sunchokes (what a fascinating altrernative to potatoes) and an out-of-this world "chopped salad" with jicama and a lime viaigrette. The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, and incredibly tasty (how many high-priced steaks have you had that had no taste whatsoever?). It's a dinner for two, and is so ample and satifying, you will probably still take something home with you. Dessert is not included, but La Brasa's desserts (not too much choice) are scrumptious. I love the tres leches cake and the flan just about equally. The service staff is smart and helpful, and the atmosphere of the large room is both warm and intimate. Great place!
The avo toast rocked my world! Still thinking about it days later. 😊
Great food, consistent quality, interesting cocktails. We never hesitate to come back.
Cocktails were great! Breads and spreads Great! Brussel Sprouts Amazing! Short ribs highly recommended
The service was fine, the food was okay but incredibly overpriced. I did not have a bad experience but for what we paid I would expect exceptional food and service. There was nothing exceptional about it. I will not return.
Went for Sunday brunch. Bloody Mary was great and spicy. Great choice of various unusual choices. I had the avocado toast which had smoked salmon which was wonderful. Great comfy relaxed vibe
I like the relaxed atmosphere and feel of the place.
The menu is good.
Area for improvement is the delivery from the kitchen to the table. For example, we ordered a grilled steak with couple of side dishes and by the time the food was delivered to our table all items (including the steak) were already cold. we sent it back to be warmed up....
As always the food is amazing. Hats of to Chef Daniel !
One of my favorite restaurant for very good food in a casual setting.
La Brasa has a great vibe - always a nice evening-food is great, service is on the mark and you leave feelin fine!
Tacos, Brussels, skirt steak, and flan were very worthy. Wings were too salty. Lamb was good but not noteworthy. Broccolini was tepid and unexceptional other than the pomegranate
Love La Brasa. I was a little disappointed as some of my favorites on the menu were replaced, but everything was ordered was super delicious... A+
The food and service is always great! Make sure to order the pancake!
Food was incredible for taste and some/most was warm, not hot. Bloodies were really well prepared. The restaurant was not that busy for our noon reservation but the service was off. Missed drinks and coffee, well even missed an entre for our table of 8.
I would go back for the food. Service needs a shot in the arm.
Great spot, first time there. Everything from the drinks, to apps, to entrees, was delicious. Will definitely be back.
The food and drinks were amazing! Waitress was helpful in helping us pick out Gluten Free options.
What a wonderful place! Great food, drinks, and atmosphere only to be outdone by the fantastic service. We can't wait to come back!
Took my mother here for her birthday. Drinks were fantastic is and the food was phenomenal. Do yourself a favor and get the bread with various spreads, and the fried wings. Also, the flan was terrific.
Delicious meal! Skirt steak and beef shank excellent as were the sides. Drink recommendations by server spot on. Highly recommend
Good Mexican BBQ, friendly service, moderate noise level in a relaxed open wood accented dining room. We had shrimp, skirt steak and lamb chops all cooked on the open flame to perfection.
I love brunch at La Brasa, especially the avocado toast with a poached egg. It was an easy spot to meet friends on Sunday with plenty of street parking and a low key atmosphere. Everyone ordered something different and loved their meals. Service was fantastic.
Everything was delicious. Great ambient, very cozy and warm. Amazing meat on the grill (we took the T-bone) and very tasty vegetables dishes.
Great vibe, friendly waiter, good service. They have a couple of very expensive steaks on the menu that they need to learn how to cook. Unlike my companions who went for the more expensive cuts I had the flank steak and it was excellent. I guess the lesson here is if you want a perfectly grilled T-bone go to a steak place. That being said - the rest of the food was creative and very good. I would definitely go back and would recommend it for a fun evening out.
it’s not mexican food at all, also maybe $$. expensive entrees but a lot of starters... still 2/12 are mexican 👀
Birthdays I. Wes here are great
If you love flan! People who work here are friendly and real, and the food was great! We split a special dish and the side dishes were delicious ! Brussels sprouts , beets, sweet potato... lovely winter food
Steak was still mooing server brushed me off. He seemed overworked. Chicken wings are basic. Good service goes miles, work on it.
Just ok food
The ambience is pleasing but the food was very underwhelming. Good place to hang out for a drink not so much for dinner
I went there for New Year's Eve and I made a reservation but when we got there, the table was not ready. We had to wait for about 15 minutes.
As a token of excuse, they served some appetizers on the house. Service could have been better.
Other than that, the ambience is good.
We arrived early for our reservation, had a seat at the bar. We were quickly served drinks. Drink menu has some unusual offerings that were fantastic. Service is top notch . I had the sirlon which was cooked perfectly. Entrees are not offered with sides.
The service was bad despite the restaurant being almost completely empty. We had the sweet potato with goat cheese, the fried potatoes, the deviled egg crisps, the grilled shrimp and the duck leg. The dishes were either completely bland or extremely salty. Definitely not worth the money. The whole thing feels and tastes like compromise. Careful if ordering soda as they don't do refills (and don't tell you) but serve you a glass full of ice with three drops of soda for $2.
Awesome as always
Delicious and unique!
Great Somerville restaurant... love everything about this place. Terrific atmosphere and the food is always excellent
A unique experience. The aroma from the stone oven greets you, foreshadowing delicious food to come. A wonderful blend of elegant simplicity with rustic overtones. You can really taste the fresh vegetables (broccolini, leeks, carrots) which I'm told come from local farms. The slow cooked barbecue brisket melts in your mouth. Perhaps the Swiss chard dish was their best (several of my colleagues had it). After having a scrumptious dinner, we went back for brunch (I can't say that I ever went to the same restaurant two days in a row); french toast was a generous portion, had a beautiful presentation, and was super tasty. Nice drink menu. Nice oyster bar. Reasonably priced. Service was extremely attentive. The waiters had sincere smiles on their face. It really seems like they were happy to serve us. We are definitely going back!
