La Bottega - Vail Ratings and Reviews
We reserved with plenty days of advance to celebrate my wife’s 50th Birthday. They sat us next to a table with three toddlers who screamed all night long.
Then we asked for a wine of the list and they did not have it! Of course won’t apologise and charge us the next selection full price.
Food is very good and the service from the waiter was outstanding.
Place is very expensive
Unfortunately their great lamb got pricy and portion went smaller. Exagerated price vs portion. The worse part, i was a loyal customer in the place and I was treated very roughly by their rude hostess who didnt care about my claim and just kept stating “nothing has changed”! Very dissapointing!
Linguine with clams had no flavor, and the wagyu beef and truffle raviolis were drowning in what tasted like a reduction of beef bullion - no truffle flavor whatsoever. The beef carpaccio appetizer was good, and the spaghetti bolognese that the kids ordered was very good. Service was uncharacteristically slow and we had to remind the waiter of missing drinks as we didn’t get our drink order until we were half way through our dinner entrees. Water glasses sat empty for at least 10 minutes. Desert was supposed to be a warm chocolate lava cake with ice cream, but the lava cake was not warm. Hopefully this was just an off night for them.
Adjacent table was served bread with visible mold and management handling did not include an apology or any effort to quickly remedy their sandwich orders. Instead they were asked why they were sending all sandwiches back when could only see the mold on two. Ravaoli was good but other dishes were fair.
We went to dinner here on Christmas Eve. The hostess was super friendly and kind. We were seated upstairs which we appreciated as the noise level downstairs was extremely loud. Our waiter was a bit pompous. Not friendly. We started with the spinach dip. Very tasty. We enjoyed our meals. The Lamb was excellent. The salmon was also a good choice. The truffle gnocchi was sensational! I had the spicy pasta with salsa. Not something I would get again. We enjoyed ourselves. I think the only thing that stops me from giving a 5 star review was the waiters chilly attitude.
This is one of our go to restaurants when we come to Vail. The food is excellent as well as the service. You can't go wrong with any of the pastas and I love the Sole dish. It does get very crowded so it can get loud, but a small price to pay for a great meal.
We ate here last year for our girls weekend and really enjoyed our meals. This year, all four of our meals were not good. My friend and I had the trout and it had no flavor and was fishy and my other girlfriends steak at tough. She could hardly cut it. Granted it was restaurant weekend and the steak was $20.17 instead of $38.70, that should not matter. We probably won't come back to this restaurant after the meal we had. But the ambiance was great and the waiter was wonderful.
PLUSES: The food and wine were very good; we enjoyed the sole and ravioli entrees as well as the bottle of Luvae Vermentino wine. We always enjoy discovering lesser-know wines and at a great price.
MINUSES: The music was extremely loud when we entered the dining room - Pavarotti signing Adeste Fidelis (think Christmas). The volume of the music became less obvious as the noise of the dining room increased. Even more annoying than the noise was the banging caused the deadbolt on the patio door every time a guest or server used the door - every few minutes. Why not unlock the door so the deadbolt wouldn't be engaged?
