La Bonne Table
We had a memorable meal during Restaurant Week. Four of us shared four wonderful choices of apps, mains and desserts. Service was perfect, cocktails were delicious and the servings were generous. Highly recommended.
My wife and I went to La Bonne Table on a Monday evening and the place was totally full, which isn’t hard to do because it’s also very small. But pretty much as soon as we sat down we realized why, the waiters were incredibly friendly and attentive, the food smelled incredible and it very much felt like a small Parisian bistro. We had the escargot, onion soup, pork chop and duck confit, followed by the crime brûlée and the chocolate mousse. Everything was absolutely delicious, the sauce on the pork chop was crazy good. 5/5 we will absolutely be going back here. A real gem in Hillcrest.
all was good. food especially perfect. nice find. good experience
Service was amazing! The food was classic French. And the atmosphere was relaxed.
Delicious food! Would recommend the wine pairing during restaurant week!
Everything about this restaurant was "tres bon!" We were seated immediately and were attended to perfectly. The food was just wonderful. I had the onion soup to start and it was hot and yummy. Next I had fish that was cooked perfectly. For dessert Ihad the chocolate mousse and my usband had the creme brulee! I will definitely come back here again
Wonderful food. Great service. Always a pleasure.
Good food and cozy restaurant.
Family in town.
This is our favorite restaurant in San Diego. We go for every holiday and birthday. It is a classic French restaurant with less than a dozen tables. The atmosphere is unpretentious yet elegant. You know the food will be authentic when there is a picture of Bernard Hinault above your table. They have perfected each item on the menu, the portions are perfect, and it is very well priced.
Really great food and service with lovely ambiance. An authentic French bistro! We will come back often!
What a charming restaurant in busy Hillcrest! Whole experience was very enjoyable. Looking forward to going back
La Bonne Table continues with dedication to achieve high quality and culinary consistency in its role as a charming and authentic French Bistro. Kudos!
One of our favorite dining spots in San Diego. They do everything right!
La Bonne Table is a "hidden gem" French restaurant in Hillcrest. It is small and intimate in a charming former house, and has excellent food and service, plus a full bar. One of the most important aspects for me is that it is quiet and one can actually have a conversation without having to shout over ambient noise which is the case with so many restaurants. I highly recommend La Bonne Table for a relaxed evening of French dining.
Love everything about this charming restaurant. Been 5 times and everything is always perfect!
The sauce and potatoes with the pork chop were outstanding. Frisee salad and crepes were also excellent
Best BRUNCH in town. Always great. Very consistent. AMAZING SERVICE!!!
La Bonne Table never fails to perform to perfection. Victor is an excellent server, always attuned to your every need.
The pate maison was very flavorful, and quite large for an appetizer, easily good for two.
Cote de Porc was huge, brought leftover home and had another meal. The accompanying mushroom sauce and potato gratin were perfect.
Cassoulet was sublime, duck leg and two kinds of sausage in a sauce with creamy flageolet beans. Best in town.
Victor is a very attentive & personable waiter. The pork chops are perfection!!
Wonderful food and staff
Atmosphere is intimate and charming
Even though La Bonne Table is NOT a steakhouse, you will eat the best steak in the world (steak frites). Top notch service by Joe and Victor. Not to be missed!!
My wife had the Bone Marrow as an appetizer and I had the French Onion Soup. My wife had the Trout Almondine and I had the Pork Chop with Mushroom Sauce for our entrees. I had the Chocolate Mousse and my wife had the Crepe Suzette for our desserts. All the food was good, but my dishes were not great. My soup lacked depth of flavor and the sweetness provided by well-caramelized onions. My pork chop needed seasoning. It was cooked perfectly, which is very difficult for a 2" thick piece of meat. It wasn't tough, it wasn't dry, it just needed salt.
Have I been too critical? I don't think so. I don't want to imply that I did not enjoy myself or that I won't return. I recommend it highly and will go back.
Best brunch value is San Diego!!! Its quiet and quant. You cannot go wrong here. With its intimate settings, fabulous food and outstanding service, you will come back wanting more.
Always a joy, especially when cassoulet is on the menu.
We have been here 2 times now and have enjoyed our visits. But tonight there were couple of off things. There was a strange smell in the restaurant when we entered, not foul but odd, don't know what it was, but it was not appetizing. Service was great, we started with Escargot and French onion soup, soup was good, Escargot was a bit too garlic. I understand it is garlic and butter but tonight it was too garlicy. My guest and I ordered the trout, unfortunately, the sauce on the trout was way too salty, and I like salt. Pork chop was excellent according to my husband.
There were a couple of people at the bar that were every loud, so ambience was not optimal last night.
We will return, maybe just an off night.
Always special and amazing
A local treasure that continues to execute very well. Cuisine has genuine traditional French roots, short but well thought out wine list. Interior is intimate with a nice bar.
Classic French bistro dishes plus more. I look forward to trying other things on the menu.
Fabulous as always! We will continue to come back & recommend! Thank you!
As always the food and hospitality were excellent.
Awesome restaurant, authentic French cuisine, good wines and cocktails available. My go to in San Diego.
I have been eating at La Bonne Table for many years. I’ve always felt the quality of the food was excellent as is the service. My only complaint is that the menu has not changed for many years making it hard to get motivated to eat there.
My daughter took me here for my birthday. We truly enjoyed our very French brunch. I'd love to return for dinner sometime soon!
Food was great for the price. Ambiance nice. Wish the wine offerings were better. Will definitely go back.
The service was good. Unfortunately, the food was lacking anything special. It was just okay. My friend had the pork chop and it was dry and over cooked. The fish was really small and again, it was just okay.
Exceptional in every respect. LBT never disappoints.
I made reservations for my husband’s birthday. He was not excited because he had never heard about this place, but I had read reviews, and I was also hungry for some quality French food!
The moment we walked in, we were delighted! It’s like walking into a Paris bistro! Intimate (only 12 tables!), but everything was great about it! A classic French menu, and hubby was excited to see Duck Confit on the menu. I had the trout almondine, served with asparagus. We shared a bottle of rose from Provence. We shared a frisée salad with warm chèvre.
The chef, Renaud Tristan, is from Paris. His wife, Sandra, is from Italy.
It was so enjoyable that we returned on Sunday for Brunch! This is our new go-to French restaurant when we can’t be in Paris!!!
Fantastic. Only thing I’d say is at the end when we were ready to pay our waiter disappeared for at least 10 minutes somewhere and we were the only 2 in the restaurant. Other than that it was wonderful.
