Still the best and still my favorite. Loved the herb-crusted salmon... just a great dish.
As always, La Boite en Bois is delicious and a neighborhood favorite!
Delicious brunch. Friendly and efficient service. Great coffee.
This was our return visit as on our last holiday my husband and I had really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The owner was particularly gracious on our first visit. Offering us a Prosecco and seats at his friends’ table as we had to wait for our table. I also recommended it to friends from UK who enjoyed it.
My only criticism is that as it is so small there is a blast of cold air when people leave/arrive so try to get a table at far end.
Hidden off a beautiful side street of the UWS, the restaurant provides a cozy and charming atmosphere. It includes a good wine selection, terrific food, and pleasant table service. The place is small, but great for a date or a small group dinner.
The restaurant has put in more tables. It will s thus cramped. One cannot helps but wonder about fire safety as a result.
Always a charming place to dine while on the upper West Side of New York City.
Feels like a taste of Paris in the heart of the city. Attentive service and the prix fixe
lunch made for a very lovely afternoon. A true gem for those who are looking for
great food in a unique atmosphere. Interior of restaurant has been remodeled since we
visited a couple of years ago. Nice and attractive ambience.
We hope to return soon.
5 of us get together for lunch about once/month. Each of us remarked how enjoyable this restaurant was and we are certain to be repeaters.
We just love this place.
All star team makes you feel welcome, pours great drinks, serves fantastic food.. What else can I say? Great.
The food, as always, was terrific and well presented. The restaurant has instituted a prix fixe menu that is the only choice until 7:30 p.m. It is $55 (plus a surcharge for some dishes) so if you only want a single entree, you cannot go before 7:30. Otherwise, no complaints.
An old time favorite that never disappoints. Have not dined there in a long time as I no longer live in NY.
The food & service was exceptional. Perfect place to eat before theater at Lincoln Center,
We have dined at La Boîte en Bois many times in the last few years and have enjoyed very meal. The food is consistently authentic French cuisine and always well prepared. The staff is friendly
and courteous. We are delighted to have it in our neighborhood!
Superb as always!
I've truly enjoyed lunch and dinner at this restaurant due to its lovely atmosphere, attentive service, and good food. However, on Easter Sunday, I ordered the special fish dish - almond crusted branzino with spinach- and it was soggy, drenched in sauce, and tasteless. Very disappointing. Stick to basics on the menu!
Very good food. Nice ambience. A bit crowded especially if you go early evening before a performance. The space is tight but the ambience is good for that small of a space.
Although the menu is authentically French, the enormous portion sizes and rushed service at this restaurant are 100% American. We allowed 2 hours for a continental prix-fixe pre-theatre dinner, hoping to enjoy an authentic French meal. Instead we were hurried through each course, with waiters swooping in the second a fork went down, plates whisked away and new ones brought at lightening speed, before we even had time to breathe. We were out the door in 1 hour and had 1 hour to kill.....and indigestion from eating too quickly.
Too bad. The food is good but who wants to wolf down a fairly expensive meal? Might as well grab a sandwich at a deli.
Great service and delicious traditional French Bistro food. Made sure we were done in time to make our show at Lincoln Center
Surprised we had not discovered this restaurant before this. Convenient to Lincoln Center. Excellent pre-Theater pre-Fixe.
Great food with wonderful service
Wonderful charming little place. Excellent food. Awful tiny, so seats are a very tight squeeze. Highly recommend for pre Lincoln Center. Romantic. :-)
Cozy space with lively atmosphere. Friendly helpful service. Great for French food. Reasonable prix fixe. Near Lincoln Center.
Overall a very exciting place, been there several times, love it more every time, very very attentive staff, food is truly great.
Best on the UWS. Always terrific.
Our dinner was lovely. Didn’t expect price fixe but well worth it!
Love this UWS institution. I can't wait to go back!
We had the luncheon prix fixe, traditional French, my leeks vinaigrette were mushy and tasteless, the omelet was good as was the chocolate mousse for dessert. Fortunately, the restaurant was not very crowded as the tables are crammed next to each other leaving only a narrow center aisle. The wine list is VERY expensive, and not many options for wine by the glass. But the restaurant is charming, not many many left in NYC occupying the first floor of a brownstone on a leafy Upper West Side street.
A nice neighborhood restaurant. Nothing fancy, but quality food served by friendly staff an an intimate setting.
I've always enjoyed this restaurant. The food is very good with nice presentation. The wait staff is accommodating; however, when I asked for fresh pepper (the only service I require), on 2 occasions, I was told that it's on the table. Being that it's not a cheap restaurant, I think that service should be provided (without asking). Is that not why we tip these people?
As usual, great food, service and wine .
An incredible French culinary experience! The service was superb, atmosphere delightful & dining devine! The Muscle soup was simply scrumptious, the escargot was perfectly seasoned & our entrees of salmon & shrimp & scallops was delectable! A repeat the next time we are in NYC!
Great food, service, ambience. Just wish I had more time. Plan to return soon.
Excellent! Great food and great service! Really enjoyed it!
I have been to La Boite en Bois more times than I can remember and it never fails to provide a wonderful dining experience. The food is always wonderful and the service is friendly and customer focused. This time we had the Trout Almandine and the Beef Bourguignon. Both were excellent.
I had informed them it was a birthday: nothing, not even a candle in dessert.
Food especially escargot extremely salty
Liver over cooked would have sent it back but we were pressed for time as were going to the theatre.
Well recommended as a staple locals place. Couldn’t have been more true. I’ll be back often to see what else is great after having the Beef Bourgogne and Salmon. Tart Tartin was worth it. Decaf coffee was actually dark and good.
Cozy little place, a little overly warm on a chilly evening. Food was nice--ravioli was a little rich but tasty. Filling enough to take some home to enjoy later.
Outstanding every time we visit. The gem of the UWS. Service, atmosphere, food, drinks and clientele all mesh beautifully.
This is a neighborhood restaurant. Did not realize only dining option was a fixed price pre theater.
Service was poor...rude waiters...one was pleasant...rushed...dry salmon..I enjoyed this place twice before...never again...
