Always enjoyable
The food was wonderful. The staff was friendly, courteous, professional. Love the ambience. Cocktails perfect!
Consistently very good. Just a wee noisy pre-theater.
Our friends recommended this little French bistro and we decided to try it. It is the real deal, delicious authentic French food. I actually felt like I was there! We really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely return.
Overpriced. Steak was tough
We went for lunch before a matinee we had the lunch prix fix, It is a great value. We both enjoyed the sunshine and soup and I really enjoyed my seafood crepes, I had a chocolate mousse for dessert it was amazing and so was the crème brûlée my friend had. Excellent service, cute little bistro but if you go at dinner I’m sure it will be noisy, it was perfect for lunch not too crowded. A real neighborhood gem I will come back again.
Excellent as usual. The food is excellent and choices very good. Everything about this place is really pleasant.
Delicious😋
Very sweet hidden away gem with excellent food, lovely menu and attentive staff
The restaurant called and texted many times to confirm our reservation. We had dined here before, and based upon our past experience we were a little disappointed. The food quality was not as fantastic as before. Everyone has an off night maybe Saturday was one of those nights.
Nice French restaurant close to Lincoln Center. Service was excellent and we ordered soup and salad, beef bourguignon and a steak au poivre off their price fixe menu which were all very good. The only disappointment was with their deserts which were not up to the same standard as the rest of the meal. The restaurant is not very large so reservations are strongly recommended. On Saturday night at 6:30 pm, the restaurant was packed.
This restaurant is always very consistent - however, I had to tell the wait staff THREE times that we weren't in a rush and to please slow things down - we arrived at 5:15 and expected to be there until about 7:15 - they started rushing us out by 6:15 - not cool at all!
We have been several times in the last 5 - 10 years And have always enjoyed our experience. Good authentic French food charming service and lovely ambience. This restaurant continues to maintain its high quality over many years. We will be back!
Busy Friday evening. Greeted warmly, . Served promptly. Drinks were great. Food was terrific. Atmosphere was stimulating. Love La Boite.
Our favorite little French restaurant, never disappoints. Food superb, staff competent and extremely friendly. Great value .
Classic French cuisine in a traditional setting. Very friendly and accommodating service
Consistently great food and charming atmosphere. Service is great too.
As always, excellent food and amazing service in this intimate neighborhood gem. Delicious brunch on Sundays, the best scallopini and seafood crepes in town. Don’t miss the wild salmon. Authentic classic French cooking. We keep coming back and so will you!
Tightly packed and noisy for pre-theater, but I like that for a French bistro. Prix-fix for $60 was the only menu available for Pre-theater before 7:30, but I did not mind. Food very good and good value for NYC. Probably quieter if you go later.
A very good NYC pre-theater restaurant. Highly recommend.
This place is small but amazing. The food and service was exceptional!
We are always happy at Boite!
Delicious food, French ambiance.
We went on Valentine's day. I felt like I was sitting in the other restaurant patron's laps. It was $90 a plate, and it was good food. The dessert was particularly tasty. The Beef Filet w/bourbon sauce was good, but not spectacular. The mushroom Ravioli was also not bad. Nothing was bad per se... But it certainly was nothing to write home about. I was disappointed because of the price, and the fact that given the good reviews, I was expecting to have my socks knocked off... That did not happen. Not even close.
This was the 2nd time we had dined at the lovely little French restaurant. This time we took friends with us and have already passed on the name to several others. The place is tiny so be forewarned that you sit close to others, but it in no way diminished the pleasure of the evening.
The service is excellent and the food is delicious. They are very accommodating about making substitutions - even on a busy night like Valentine's Day! It is French, not only in service and food and charming decor, but in the typically warm French atmosphere of a small village.
We highly recommend it!
Recommended by friends and so very glad we listened! This is a the perfect setting for a romantic "pretend you are in France" dinner! The service was excellent (Stephano) along with every person with whom we connected. The menu is traditional and at the top of the delicious scale! (escargots, pate, duckling, steak with amazing bordelaise, chocolate mousse, creme brulee - all about as French as it gets!) Even the music (Edith Piaf) set the stage! We loved it and look forward to returning. Highly recommend!
Always reliable, great service
This places is described as a cozy spot but it’s too brightly light with tables basically on top of each other. I fail to remember “cozy” in New York is code for tiny and cramped, so I guess it’s my fault? :)
That said, it was good food and a very cute group of French waiters who kept apologizing for being attentive.
Lovely little restaurant, good food but very tight quarters. Pleasant waiter had to help us get seated by moving tables around.
Eh. I mean I certainly wouldn’t call it bad but I wouldn’t call it good. Our dishes were somewhat bland and the menu not particularly inspiring. Some waiters were wonderful, others you had to ask twice for something and then ask someone else. Place is cute but obnoxiously small, if you drop something you basically have to leave it for dead. They pull the table out so you can get out then wait looking at you because you weren’t actually ready yet and have things to gather, impeding all traffic because it’s that small.
Delightful, cozy spot with a great prix fixe pre opera/concert menu. Easy walk to Lincoln Center. Very good food.
A real gem near Lincoln Center.
It’s perfection, even after all these years!
Great place loved it
The experience of dining at La Boite en Bois could not have gone any better. Lovely space, very cozy and inviting. Warm and attentive staff. The food was sublime. Great date restaurant. Highest recommendation!
Best French food I have had in a LONG time. Everything was perfect and the service was impeccable as well. Very excited to have found this place and look forward to going back!
Place is very cute but small. We had to wait for our table and since there is no place to wait they asked if we could come back in 15 minutes. We came back in 14 and someone else was also waiting. But they gave them our table. They then apologized and we waited a bit longer and were given a glass of wine.
Good wasn’t as good as we had hoped as we really wanted to find a fav french bistro which we did not.
It was ridiculously noisy. Will never go again except for pre theater. Not at 7.
Excellent food ,selection and presentation. Servers are friendly but not cloyingly overbearing, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very French but could be improved with greater spacing between tables, My wife and I look forward to our next visit.
You get the feel of a small chalet in the Alps with French cuisine and great service. The round-shaped table for 6 was perfectly located in the room so we didn't bother the other guests nor did we hear too much from our neighbors. I liked the fact that they have leek in several dishes - it reminded me of France. The Croque-Madame was good for brunch and I recommend the chocolate mousse for desert.
This is a great restaurant with exceptional atmosphere and amazing food.
