We love the 7-day a week happy hour, especially the $5 Cava. We would like happy hour even more if there there were a greater number of items that had the happy hour discount.
Wonderful ambiance and service. My fiance and I both have lived in Europe so it was nice to have choices that were not the usual KC fare. My paella was a bit overdone. But I would recommend and go back in a heartbeat.
Restaurant was 1/2 empty on a Saturday night. Service was very slow waited a while for our drink orders and each round of tapas. Seemed like they were very short staffed, maybe 2 wait staff and 1 bartender on a Saturday night at 9pm.
Food and drink was great as always and then wait staff was apologetic for the long wait between orders.
La Bodega is a favorite for family and friends, the Happy Hour menu can’t be beat to try a variety of Spanish favorites. Service is always excellent. Ladies night for six friends and we tried the potatoes, chicken and chorizo skewers, mushrooms, meatballs, wrapped shrimp and short ribs. The food was awesome and reasonably priced.
It was a girls night out and everything was fantastic! I was particularly happy there were gluten free options since I have a sever allergy.
V ery good evening overall, felt a bit rushed by the waiter.
Suggestion: add pisco sour to the bar spirit drinks.
We went for Sunday brunch. The unlimited mimosas were great. The waitress was on top of the refills. We look forward to go back for happy hour and dinner.
The service was a little slow when we sat down but it was corrected quickly. Nice dinner with friends. A little disappointed with one of the shrimp tapas (size was really small for $11-$13). Overall I would recommend
Our waiter, Alex, was really good. I have been to this location several times and it is consistent. I have only eaten at the KC, MO restaurant once as we didn't like the atmosphere there as well.
I would like to see more specials or tempting things appear on the menu. I do like the paella, but often we don't have the time to wait for that.
The tables are very tight not only for the customers, but I have noticed also for the servers - especially when they are preparing hot cocktails at the tables, etc. (which is after all part of the tapas experience for us.
When you first enter the restaurant, the noise level seems overwhelming, but as you are seated, it seems more tolerable....maybe because you have passed the bar seating by then.
It’s been a few years since we have been here and this was our first time at this location. We had a really good experience. Our server, Rachel, was very knowledgeable of the menu and made a few recommendations for us. Everything was really good and it all came out pretty fast. We will definitely be back!
It was extremely loud. We had to yell at each other to be heard. Food was not as good as I remembered it.
We weren't impressed... we went on Valentine's Day and the service was extremely slow, our first course soup was cold, the second course was good and the main just ok dessert was horrible! I'm sorry but we won't be back....
Prix Fixe menus for valentines' day included assorted salads, tapas, soup, main course and dessert for $60 per person (without tip). Such a disappointing meal. Cold, flavorless bisque, fatty, room-temperature steak and average service. Quickly made sense why place was half-empty at 7:00 PM. Let the server know our disappointment with the meal- but never garnered a visit from the chef or manager. Asked to wrap our desserts to go, and paid $200 bill (including $40 tip). Found when we got home desserts haphazardly smashed into containers. Not a great experience
This was our first experience here and my husband and I both really enjoyed it! The ambiance was awesome and the food was really delicious. We would definitely return, just not on a night that they had a fixed menu. Dinner for two with drinks and tip was about $200.00. For that price I would probably go somewhere like Plaza III.
Fantastic service was excellent
Maxwell the bartender great
Food was excellent
My wife and I met up with friends and had a great time. The food and drinks were amazing. I love all of the tapas.
We went out for my husbands Birthday and had a wonderful time. We always love it here!
Great food, gin drinks were amazing, loved the sangria. Service was attentive and personable. Lovely dinner.
Cutesy place with a lively bar but if you are looking for gormet Spanish food this is not your place. Ingredients in paella were not fresh, rice pasty and the dinner portion of chicken was about what you would expect for a light lunch.
We really liked it that the waitress described what was on the Tabla Rasa, as not all of them do. We like to know what we are eating.
Great service as always
Love La Bodega - one of our favorite, and go-to spots.
It was good except we couldn’t find our waiter a couple of times, but someone else took care of us each time.
La Bodega never disappoints. Try out their happy hour specials to enjoy their vast tapas menu.
Salad greens were unusual, bitter, chewy. I had some kind of a rice, vege mash, they identified as Paella. It was not anything close to that dish. No flavors of the sea. No Sofrito, I even paid extra for the shrimps! My lady had salads, mushrooms were pretty good, shrimps were flavorless. The toast with fig jam & goat cheese okay! Serve this in Barcelona, the people would burn you at the stake! Very disappointed, spent over $110. Food alone. Service was good.
Upon arrival we were seated fairly quickly and the staff were pleasant. The atmosphere was nice for a dinner with a group but for two we should have been sat more towards the back, the bar area was very loud. We also were facing the street and the city light was shining very brightly through the window directly in our eyes, we asked if there was a shade to pull down but we're told no there wasn't. All that aside the service was great and the variety of food choices is excellent and authentic Spanish cuisine. We never felt rushed and the staff were very accommodating, precise and speedy with our food and drinks. Overall was a good time and we will go back again.
This review is for restaurant week menu. I had a quite small first course salad that was tasty. The vegetable paella was very good but there was an up charge for meat or fish. Therefore I did not choose that. Other restaurants during restaurant week served great portions and a meat/fish was included. I love La Bodega’s Happy Hour and horsd’oeuvres but was not happy with this particular lunch.
Great Food, Gr8 Service and Total Fun... luv the service of the wait staff! Everyone was knowledgeable and kind...
We went for Restaurant Week and everything was good, but would have been happier ordering off the regular menu. FYI - paella takes awhile to cook so it was delivered well after my husband had finished his 3 tapas. They brought his tapas out immediately and wish they would have timed it closer to my paella. He got 3 chicken skewers, 6 shrimp, and a BUNCH of olives - probably better for a larger group. With salad, entree and dessert, more food than we needed, so next time we will just get tapas and maybe a dessert. Their sangria is best in town!
My husband and I were first-time patrons of La Bodega. I have driven by a million times, but wanted to partake for restaurant week for something different. We were so impressed! Super fun menu, excellent service, and delish sangria! The food was top notch and we had a fun time picking out tapas to try. Four thumbs up from us and highly recommended!!
Although we've dined at La Bodega in the past, this was our first time to try their happy hour. Wow! Half price sangria and tapas until 6 p.m.!! We're definitely adding La Bodega to our list of favorite spots for happy hour.
We frequently go here for dinner, and we have not been disappointed. Often see families together sharing plates, including young children. Good for special occasions and weeknights both.
We shared a dish of seafood paella, which was delicious . There was ample squid, shrimp, and mussels. Also, had the chorizo and bean soup which was good. The waiter was friendly and attentive; and, the restaurant manager came by our table to check on our satisfaction.
Good date, good food. :)
The food was fantastic. Our server Brian was not able to keep up with the service level I would have expected to receive. My water was empty on multiple occasions. We sat at our table with empty plates as we waited for additional tapas dishes. Or server told us they came out fast so to order when we saw fit, this was not a good recommendation. I ordered another drink from someone who delivered my food. My waiter had no idea I was waiting on my $14 drink so it was never brought until I asked for it. As you guessed it was watered down.
The business needs to increase the level of service to meet expectations.
Went out with family for my birthday dinner. Not impressed. My mother's wine not as ordered, sent it back. My husband's bacon wrapped dates were burnt, can't believe they even served them, they were replaced with apologies from the manager, not our server. Paella was dry, shrimp chewy. We ordered dessert and received new spoons that we're Dirty!!!! Asked for replacements, all without ever receiving an apology from our server, unbelievable in my opinion. The 3 dessert tarts filling was grainy & runny. Flan & Salmon entree we're the only positives for the whole meal. Won't be returning.
We our huge fans of La Bodega. Always felt the atmosphere AND food were better tbe original location, but not this time. The food and service was perfect!
Ok-came here for an event. Their first ever “Cuban night.”It was supposed to be a 4 course tasting menu. It.was.horrendous.
Reservation was at 7:30, got there at 7:05 to have a drink or 2 before dinner. Took us 20 min to finally flag down a bartender-even though there were 3 of them.
We didn’t get sat until 8:10-40 min AFTER our reservation. Was told bread would be brought over and dinner would start shortly. It took 22 min for bread to be delivered-and the first course wasnt brought out for another 15 min after that. So dinner didn’t start until about 9 pm...90 min after our reservation. I didn’t want to walk out because they had my credit card info already and I was afraid I would be charged.
I was told there were “free” rum tastings, only to walk over and be told they cost $10+ a pour.
The salad was drenched in dressing. The crab soup was the best part of the meal. The next 2 courses were BLAND and served COLD. The 3 appetiser plate, cold. The head on shrimp was decent, the “Russian caviar sauce” tasted like sour cream, plantain and beef was good-again cold-would’ve been better warm, and the chicken wing was different and tangy. The next course had 2 pork dishes and some fried chicken. The chicken breading was soggy and flavourless. And again everything was cold. The sides were black beans and rice, brought out a good 10 min before everything else. So again-cold cold cold and zero flavour, beans were unseasoned and the rice had maybe a liiiittle cilantro. The guava flan was delicious. That and the soup were the best part. We walked out of there almost at 10:30....no dinner should take 3 hours. Also-the sangria at the bar cost $3.50, at the table it was $7...even though it was the same drink. And no, it wasn’t happy hour. So disappointed with the service and quality of food for $35/plate. My date and I spent almost $150 after food and drinks and it was terrible.the wait was absolutely crazy and I regret not walking out for now much we spent
I very much enjoy both locations of La Bodega but they definitely were not prepared for the crowd they had on Sunday night for their Cuban night event. My party was not seated until 40+ minutes later than my reservation and, though the place was emptying by then, the first course took a while in coming. Luckily we were not in a hurry and we’ve had good experiences before so I wasn’t too upset. However, perhaps better planning of reservation capacity during these special events is needed since obviously tables won’t turn as quickly when patrons are enjoying the good food, music and energy of the evening.
Authentic Spanish tapas with great service,
Fun wine list 👍🏻
