La Bodega - Leawood
Need to book at 9:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Excellent food and service. I definitely going to come back
Went here for Valentine’s Day. It was a non-optional 4 course meal for $60/person. Salad and dessert were good, appetizer and main course were hardly edible (mushrooms and chicken). We’ve always loved La Bodega! Not sure what’s happened to this location, maybe new cooks? $200 all said and done...not even close to worth it.
Food and wine are great - staff is amazing! We will continue to be regular customers.
The Valentine food was wonderful and we enjoyed the glass of champagne that greeted us. Because of the noise level and the music , not overly romantic. Different soothing music would have improved the situation and given the age of the guests that were there when we were would probably have been appreciated.
Service was excellent and most of the food was wonderful. The shrimp dish was disappointing as the shrimp didn't seem fresh.
Food was absolutely excellent as always. Server was really hard to hear this time but not based on the noise level. She may have been newer but super soft spoken.
Food was excellent. Seating was a little crowded with tables being very close to other parties. Wish there was a little more space so we are not listening in on other's conversations.
Waiting time was long and food portions very small
We enjoyed a nice quiet lunch after church.
Manager asked us to move to bar because they overbooked themselves and kitchen was slow getting food out. We still had not finished our drink. The manger would have never asked two men to leave just us because we were females and he thought he could bully us into leaving. He then flared at us from afar when we didn’t get up right away. When I called back to ask why he did that he said the hostess told us we could only have a certain time limit. Which of course she didn’t. He was very much poor at management, rude and when you spend over a $100, you should be able to stay till when you want to leave. Unreal. Never will go back even though the food is good.
The tapas were wonderful. Service prompt and friendly. Really appreciated not having to look at a TV while dining. Will definitely go back!
Great service and always great food! Noise level is pretty high though.
Very unfortunate experience during Restaurant week. There was a hair in my food. The hostess was professional and responsive, but the dinner experience was ruined at that point.
As always, the food was incredible. Mussels are a favorite, so was the paella and the dates with pancetta. Yum. Yum. Yum
We were there for Restaurant Week Lunch. They had a nice selection of items for both courses. The food was great. We will definitely go back.
We’ve dined at La Bodega many times. We love both locations. This latest experience was probably the worst dining experience we’ve ever had during Restaurant Week. We’ve been participating in Restaurant Week for several years and always look forward to trying some new places as well as some of our favorite restaurants.
First, we waited nearly ten minutes after being seated before any one brought water. Then another five minutes before we were asked about drink choices. Our waitress, (5332 Sol) was indifferent to say the least. When we asked some questions about the special menu, her answer was “It’s all pretty straightforward, written right there.” Was not knowledgeable about wines, although she did ask if we would like to sample two. That process took another ten minutes. I might add, that we were seated on the bar side, and there were only four other tables occupied. When we left, there was only one occupied table on the restaurant side. People that were seated after us were served before we were, by a different waitress. Food portions were small, chicken was tough and the deserts were tasteless. Our bill was calculated incorrectly.
We may return, but will definitely ask not to be served by Sol.
I need to eat gluten free and La Bodega had good options, and they were willing to make some adjustments as well. The food was good and tasted freshly made. My husband and I plan to go again. Their tapas are half off during happy hour.
3 tapas per person plus starter and dessert during KC Restaurant Week is a great value - full sized tapas even!
Cannot beat the happy hour at La Bodega! It is our go-to favorite. Great value, amazing food/drinks and fun atmosphere!!!
New year’s eve
The food was not served hot and was either bland or too sweet. The price of our meal was way out of line withe what we received. We were very disappointed.
New Year’s Eve
Was unaware when I made reservation that they were only serving four course meal.It being New Year’s Eve. It was all the way at the bottom of there web page as I investigated more after I got home.To make it easier on the cheifs, cooks. It was not busy at all. Very expensive and was not to impressed by the food.We were sitting basically on top of the table next to us. Heard all of there conversation’s. And felt uncomfortable being that close.
We had the New Years fixed menu with a pitcher of the Red Sangia. A great Night!
Service was rushed - all done within 50 min. Too fast for a tapas restaurant. We'd asked for plates to be paced, but staff seemed hurried despite the restaurant being 2/3 empty. Less than great dining experience. Lacks the atmosphere that the downtown restaurant has.
We had a great time catching up with old friends over the holidays! The wine was great. The tappas were just the right amount of food. Our waitress gave several helpful suggestions that rounded out the afternoon. The noise level was perfect, although we were there in the middle of the afternoon. We've been to La Bodega, before, and it never disappoints! Great for parties large and small. We would recommend to anyone who has not tried the Spanish tappas experience.
Everything about the dining was great! Fun place, great food, very good waiter, made it a great experience!
Overall experience very good. Service was somewhat slow but may have been understaffed. Recommended wine was ok. Took my parents for their birthdays and they enjoyed the selection of food.
Exceptional food and service
Waitress did a great job
Spanish coffee was a great finish to the night
Very enjoyable. The papas fritas are a must! Always happy with my experience.
I was a server for 11 years and worked really hard to take care of my customers. Our server seemed to be having an off night. It was not that busy, and our glasses of wine took much too long, when arrived the server poured so fast it spilled over the glass and onto the table to which she didn’t wipe it up, we did. Bread came out well after our first 3 items were brought to the table. The wrong order was placed on an item, then the right one finally came out and it was all very confusing. I surely understand having an off night, but having 4-5 things go wrong seems a bit much for the high expense of an evening out and my girlfriend had never been to the restaurant before. Please know I’m not upset about it and I’ll definitely be back again, but I just think maybe the server should realize that slowing down and really being attentive can stop experiences like this. I still tipped her well, but what’s to stop another customer from leaving nothing or 5% from so many things not going well. I’d see this review as a learning experience and to help the servers know that attention to detail goes a long way.
Food was really good! The service was horrible. It took a long time to get order, get our drinks, get the check, and get the check paid. But again, I really liked the food.
Yummy food and great service as usual. Management could do a little bit more to quiet tables that are being ridiculously loud and obnoxious. Other than that, I would be back.
From Spain, fun experience w friends in town for holiday weekend.
Happy hour tapas specials are the best!!! Love to visit during this time!!
The street corn was our fav!!! LOVED It-great flavors!!!
Weird bill, added charges, then took some off. Very confusing.
Always a great meal at La Bodega. The hard part is choosing which tapas to eat!
Only one dish not to my liking (undercooked potato). The rest were amazing.
Service was seriously lacking. Had to clean up my own spill with my napkin, had to ask for water twice, extra tableware and napkins again twice, then had to wait fifteen minutes for the still under cooked potatoes after the rest of the food was delivered and eaten.
Great food and great service, our server steered us through the menu with great suggestions and service.
Three of us met for lunch as we do monthly. Our server brought our drinks right away. We ordered several tapas to share & enjoyed them very much. We also ordered churros to share for dessert. It was a very nice lunch even though our server seemed to disappear after we ordered.
Food—delicious. Restaurant & ladies room—clean. Server—average.
While dining, Some of the 2 person tables were extremely close.
