La Bodega - Kansas City
My fiancée and I had an amazing dinner here this evening. We shared a number of tapas; each and every one of them was perfectly cooked & seasoned. The papas fritas con ajo was a standout as well as the pan plano con salmon ahumado. That said, there's simply not a single "just average" item on the menu. They're all outstanding!
We went to dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It wasn’t too crowded due to the snow but I will say every item we ate was FANTASTIC! The drinks were also exceptional (we had both the red and white sangria and tried their Spanish coffee drink too). For food we loved everything and can’t say enough positive things! Only thing was we waited a little while to order and pay but I think they were just shorter staffed with the weather and it didn’t diminish our experience in the slightest. We highly recommend La Bodega and will definitely be returning!
Valentines menu was subpar. My spouse and I really prefer the normal menu. We got stuck in the addition room with barely any heating as well. Normally, la bodega is one of my favorite restaurants but Valentine’s Day let us down.
The food came out all backwards from what you would expect. The steak and scallops came out before the mushrooms and even before the potatoes. All of this still even came out before the salads. They weren’t all too busy. We’ve been there before when they’re busier.
Excellent Happy Hour and the service was fantastic. Can't wait to go back!
Truly, one of my wife and my favorite Kansas City restaurants. Excellent food and environment. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Excellent variety of food, including vegetarian options. Better experience than most high end restaurants and not nearly as expensive.
As always, we’re blown away by the friendliness of the staff. I cannot express how grateful how I am that the staff brought us champagne for our anniversary. We had such a horrible year last year, but Friday ended up making new friends with the couple next to us. As the night went on, we got a couple more glasses of champagne and it was so appreciated. Here’s to 2019 and many more visits with you all. God bless you.
First time guest. Will definitely be back. Great place to join friends for drinks and tapas.
i used to love this place, but my experience was just all around bad. i had a reservation but had to wait for a table to come open. the waiter was good but too busy to provide any service, and the food was sadly mediocre. i hope they can turn things around.
SO delicious!!! Would come back in a heartbeat. Loved the variety and ability to try a lot of things.
We love La Bodega. Happy Hour is fabulous. Great tapas and Spanish wine.
Wonderful food, interesting flovors.
I liked this place in the past but this experience was pretty terrible and it was a first impression for everyone else I was dining with. We would ask for things (crayons and mustard) and no one would come back. Then they served half our table and my father and I waited almost 15min longer for our food and when it came everyone else was done eating and out food wasn’t even warm! They even basically hard boiled my benedict egg- it was just a bad bad day for them and us since we paid almost 80 for brunch and had a terrible experience
Great tapas - combined with equally good sangria - in a fun environment. Lots of energy!!
We went for lunch during restaurant week. We had reservations and weren't seated because they were massively under-staffed. We had to wait 20 minutes -- which is time we could not afford for lunch. They had open tables but we were refused, as they did not have enough servers. We only got 2 courses and in order to get meat, we had to pay a surcharge of $4, which only got us 4 small boiled shrimps. There is no comparison to what other restaurants offer. Lydia's offers 3 courses including their unlimited pasta for the given restaurant week price of $15. La Bodega's servers -- although stretched too thin -- were courteous trying to make up for the train wreck. La Bodega cannot deliver to the demands of restaurant week and should not participate.
As part of the Restaurant Week we decided to try an old favorite to meet another couple who hadn't been there before. We were all impressed with our choices, with the garlic soup and Bisteca getting our best reviews. Not only was all the food excellent, but the wine flight with our server Nick's recommendations was so good we took pictures of two of the bottles to try to find later. Nick was very friendly and helpful during our visit and made us feel very welcome.
Beautiful and delicious food. Our waiter, Nicholas, made a knowledgeable recommendation on a wine to accompany our tapas. Great ambiance in this intimate restaurant. A treasure in Kansas City. Can’t wait to come back!
We are always so happy when we return to La Bodega. The food is soooooo amazing, as are the libations, and the service is both professional and friendly.
Waiter had been very helpful and a winter full day and the new food for us was a great experience, thank you.
My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful time. The food and drinks were great and the service was top notch. Will definitely be coming back.
The food was awful and way overpriced. Crappy ambience with lights flickering on and off and hostess too busy chatting up friends instead of doing her job. I would leave 0 stars if it were an option.
Such a fun night out on Saturday
Went there on a date and the wait was only five minutes. The noise level made it essy to carry on a conversation. The tacos were awesome. I had the BBQ Duck, but the portabello mushroom was my favorite.
Had their take on cioppino. Absolutely fantastic, a must try.
We have eaten at La Bodega many times. This time, it was with a number of friends for my wife's birthday. Since I had reservations, we were able to get right in, and they had a table ready for 6 upon our arrival. The noise level is always a little on the high side, but this time, we were over in the corner, so it wasn't as much as of problem. We were greeted immediately by our server, and ordered a couple of pitchers of their wonderful Sangria. It arrived fairly quickly. The food is always good. Several tried some of the small plates that we had not had before, so we are going to have to try them next time. We always come during happy hour for drinks and 1/2 price tapas. We had never had dessert before, but since we were celebrating, why not? The apple caramel cheesecake was incredible! I definitely recommend La Bodega for the great food, good service, and fun!
Wonderful evening! Great food. Love the Spanish coffee. Quite the show!
This was once my favorite KC staple. We received unforgettably poor service on Christmas Eve with my family.
One of our favorite restaurants
Jessica is awesome!!!
Dinner with friends
second time, great food. table sevice outstanding.
Excellent Tapas and great wines. Great for 4 people to spend the evening eating and drinking, sharing great food .
Food came out one plate at a time; which was great. It was all hot and very good. The drinks were strong and the crowd was quite loud. Other than the big party that came in and overcrowded us at our table for 2 in the corner, we had a great experience. We plan on going back on another day when it's not so busy so we can hear each other.
Delicious dishes and superlative service all around. Special notes in my reservation request were met (table location, surprise birthday). Christie is amazing and took great care of us.
I think this is a great place for a first date. Service was on point, food was great, and strongly recommend the red sangria.
Great food. Great service.
Love all the tapas at La Bodega. Highly recommend: champiñones, pinxos de higo, pan con tomate, gambas al ajillo.
Excellent night out. Our server have excellent for suggestions.
Food was delicious! Bacon wrapped dates!! I will be back just for that. The beef tenderloin tapa was also amazing! Kind of loud and tight seating but I think thats the point.
Our server was wonderful with his wine recommendations and the happy hour is unbeatable.
