La Bettola di Terroni Ratings and Reviews
The food wasn’t all that great. The pizza was a bit underdone. The Caprese salad could’ve used more than one leaf of basil (it was mostly tomatos with almost non existing dressing).
They don’t have balsamic vinegar for the food or the pizza. The tagliatelle ai funghi was very very bland.
The food took over 45 min, and the cutlery was dirty.
Disappointed, food was below average, service dismal, ambiance was nice. One out of three ain’t bad, but not when you are in the food and service business. The only bright spot was when we arrived, I had made a reservation for 4 but we end d up needing 6, at first the hostess said can’t be done, but after pushing the manager arrived and figured out that we could sit at a sharing table, but we had to push for it. I would go back ever.
Was rudely told we don’t serve aspartame when I️ asked for a Diet Coke. When my husband bought me one next door I️ was told I️ could not have It on the table.
They also don’t allow butter or white sugar. I️ find It impossible to believe that they don’t use white sugar in their baking they just won’t provide it to their paying customers.
We were four eating adults but when the child with us said she wasn’t having anything the waitress grabbed the plate and napkin from in front of her.
Whole experience was ridiculous
Terrible customer service. We made our reservation through open table at 8:00pm and by 8:15pm, our table was not ready. When we complained with the hostess, she was extremely rude to us and did not even welcome us. She ruined our evening and food was just ok. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Had a wonderful time at La Bettola di Terroni! Terrific food and ambience. Our server was fabulous, explaining the menu options and making recommendations! Loved it and would definitely recommend it to friends and family! Will definitely go back!
Also booking the reservation was very easy and convenient using Open Table.
Ridiculously slow service and a mediocre meal ($26 burrata on rock hard bread!) We were seated on the side that is brightly lit and has the ambiance of a mall food court. Wish I knew that was what I reserving on OpenTable. Not worth the high price point considering how many great places there are to eat in the city. Used to be a go-to spot but I doubt I'll return.
Lack of respect to your clients:
No complaints regarding the food and or service, however very disappointed in a couple of things... One the lack of "everyday essentials" that should be in any restaurant, especially one that promotes itself to the theatre district fine dining crowd. Example would be; martini glass. (so I had my martini in a regular glass) , finer spirits like Jack Daniels, no clamato juice for ceasar drinks, and oddly - Ginger ale ??? Do not understand how a restaurant that does serve mixed drinks could not carry ginger ale... just some very basic things that should be readily available.
Finally, we had several guests that had a seafood pasta and requested parmesan cheese with their meal and were denied. (Theory I guess is cheese and seafood don't mix... I understand the chef not purposely choosing to serve it with cheese, but I DO NOT understand the decision to simply tell your guests no.) I thought this was Rude, Pretentious and Obnoxious and embarrassed me to my guests, let alone embarrassed my guests. Essentially you insinuated they were not "educated" with food.
For this reason I will not be dining here again.
Food was terrific. Service? Not so much. Wasn't provided any information about specials - had to ask.
Requested fresh parm cheese; had to wait too long to get it. Really, it should have been offered when all the pasta dishes were delivered to the table.
1/5 orders was not what was ordered; waitress insisted she was correct. She wasn't.
Overall, the lack of service took away from the experience. Food was delicious. Desserts were also amazing!!
Unfortunately although the food is good there wasn't a decent menu option for the light lunch eg. Salad type with option to add.meat salmon or shrimp
That being said definitely WAY over priced for the work lunch. 2 waters, 2 pastas dishes 2 coffees came to 70.00 .... in my opinion there are numerous other places to lunch/dine and get a better bang for your buck.
My first visit and will be my last.
Food and prices are okay. What bothered us a lot was that 2in our group wanted Parmesan on their fish pasta. We know it's not supposed to be, but if a customer wants it, she should get it. Really dictatorial, we were denied it. Unheard of, eben in Italia. We will never return.
Always a pleasure to dine at La Bettola di Terroni. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fabulous wine selection and wonderful food. My husband and I have been dining here for years. We reserve a table whenever we have events to attend in the downtown Toronto area.
We loved our meals, my wife had Pasta Putinesca and I had the Sausage pasta, both were delicious.
The service was very good, the staff were friendly and very pleasant. The Wine list was good, although most were expensive.
We will definitely visit again soon.
Despite having reservations at 5:30 we were originally seated in a far, dark corner in the more casual little area to the north in the restaurant . We were moved once I complained and asked to see what else was free- turned out many window table were available after all !
Our waitress rarely smiled , did not offer information on daily specials , we had to ask 2 times for black pepper and she never once asked if we liked our food ( which was good).
The menu was limited at this location with very little in the way of selection . I would not return to this restaurant but would go to their other location on Adelaide.
Great spot for a pre-TIFF line-up meal. Limited, but good, by-the-glass wine selection and the pasta offerings were both excellent. Caprese salad, with buffalo mozzarella, was very good, though the vinegar in the dressing lacked `bite' (or perhaps there was just not enough to make an impression).
We had attended tiff and made an early dinner reservation for 5:15. We each had a salad for starters . I had the Insalata Barbabietole, highly recommend the interesting combination of ingredients.. We shared the Primaverile pizza which we both loved. My friend enjoyed a glass of wine from a great selection and I enjoyed a most perfect latte. A great place and will continue to dine there.
The food is quite good. It's on the pricey side for what you get, but the pasta with truffles is lovely. It's a hopping place and has a good vibe. The servers look a little flustered sometimes, but it seems like the after work crowd and the theatre crowd all descend at the same time.
The food was pretty good. I had an interesting pasta dish which was like an open tortellini and it was very tasty. One of us had the seafood pasta and he did not enjoy it. The pizzas very very thing and very good. The caprese salad was quite large and quite good.
We were visiting Toronto with friends to celebrate their anniversary. We were recommended the restaurant. The service we received was the most distracted, disjointed service I have ever received. Our server dropped a bottle of champagne while opening it at an adjacent table. The bottle bounced spraying a stream of champagne up, and directly into the back of one of our party. The server also was hit in the face with champagne. The table she was serving reportedly included the General Manager of the restaurant. She was embarrassed, started to cry and ran out of the restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes with no service and no apology or attention. Both the General Manager and the Restaurant Manager seemed only concerned about the mental health of the server. Later the server drifted back to our table. My friend mentioned that she was soaked, up her back and in her hair, to which the Server responded, "that is nothing, I was hit in the face". No apology, or attention was offered.
When we finally were offered dessert, three of four ordered. The server had recommended a dessert to me. Two desserts were delivered to the other two by a bus person. About 10 minutes later the server came back to the table. She noted me looking inquiringly at me and asked "why are you looking at me, did I forget something?.....oh yes the.....". To which she added, "don't mind me I am very distracted". It seemed she thought I would no longer want the dessert. She had to be asked to expedite the dessert.
Suffice it to say the service was atrocious. What was amazing was that the Manager or General Manager did not pay attention to ensuring the customers were appropriately treated.
The meal experience was varied. Two of four found their dinners delicious, one average, and one did not enjoy the taste and did not finish the meal.
The person who recommended the restaurant has previously had good experiences. Our experience would not warrant a recommendation.
