La Bettola di Terroni
Friday: 11:30am - 11pm
Saturday: 4pm - 11:00pm
Always reliably wonderful. They get you out to the theatre on time without ever feeling rushed.
A very disappointing return visit to La Bettola. I have always eaten at the bar and found service friendly and very good and the food is up to Terroni standards. This was not the case this time around when we were out to celebrate a friend's birthday before the theatre. Our reservation was for 2.5 hours before show time and we actually arrived 10 minutes early so imagine our upset when we found ourselves running to the theatre minutes before show time. We weren't alone. Most of the diners in our half of the restaurant were all late and all disgruntled by the horrendous service we received. As a frequent Terroni Price Street diner, I have come to expect fast, professional service and delicious food. We got neither at La Bettola on Saturday night. So disappointing. The topic of conversation on Victoria Street, from several people was how terribly disappointing their pre-theatre meal was. Not only was the service horrendously slow but the server was actually rude to a number of tables that she was serving. Something needs to change at La Bettola before I would return. I normally don't like to write negative reviews because every server and establishment can have an off day but this was so over the top that I would be lying to write anything other than this.
Genuine Italian food in the heart of Toronto. Nice atmosphere but a bit pricey.
Our go to restaurant when we are in the city for shopping or theatre.
Pasta is always a good choice particularly the daily special options.
We were asked if we were heading to the theatre, which we were, so our meal was served according to our schedule without being rushed through.
I have been to la betola many times before a concert and the food is reliable and efficient. This past experience was different. We arrived at 5:55 for a 6:00 reservation we had to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated. We finally ordered our wine and dinner. The wine arrived at 6:50 our appetizer at 7:10 and our dinner did not arrive until 7:40 when we had to leave. We had asked many time about our entre and our server kept saying she will check the kitchen. Meanwhile all the other tables were clearing out. The maître Di did come over and apologized. He took our meals off our bill. And offered us a 25$ gift certificate each. This didn’t satisfy my hunger unfortunately. We were both very hungry during the Massey hall concert after drinking almost a bottle of wine. Perhaps now that Massey hall will be closed shortly for 2 years the restaurant will get it together. We were so disappointed.
My date and I had an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend this location!
My husband and I went there for our anniversary. A date night without the kids. Food was fabulous - particularly the pasta (so fresh!) and the desserts. They service was great.
Food was mediocre, I've had better Italian food in the city. Restaurant dining room was very loud!
The meal was slow in coming. However, to “make it right” the restaurant waived the charges for a salad and cappuccinos. Overall, the experience was positive.
The person who served us knew nothing about the menu and could provide any recommendations. We were constantly trying to flag her down for service and to top it off she insulted one of my friends who asked for spoon to eat his linguine.
Waiter was cool. Little help with wine list. She was too busy.
Delicious food...my friend and I shared a pizza and salad as we only wanted a light bite. We only had 50 minutes and the server was very attentive to getting us out on time. Great cappuccino!
Was seated at a table which really shouldn't have been there. It was at the "choke" point between two sections and everyone walking to the other half of the restaurant had to squeeze though. Very uncomfortable and poor dining ambience when someone is constantly bumping in to you while you are trying to talk/eat.
Very nice restaurant. Had a good variety of vegetarian items. Food quality was not as good as I expected being part of the Terroni family. Location to the theatre was excellent
Beautiful restaurant with great decor. I ordered the octopus and it was amazing!! One of the best I've had in the city. Portions are a bit small but its quality over quantity. Overall had a lovely experience.
Appetizer was excellent, as were the two pasta dishes; however the main course fish dish was essentially Novell cuisine with a tiny piece of fish at a $38.00 price tag.
Excellent food I had the fish of the day dorade with artichokes and it was really tasty Also the first time I see olive ascolane on the menu outside a small family owned restaurant in Montreal I will definitely be back
Disappointing. An Italian restaurant that fails at pasta? My Carbonara was undercooked, not al dente. Sent it back but it returned a little too quickly. My take: same dish, warmed over. Tip: once undercooked, pasta doesn't improve. My table guests pasta dishes were cooked but unimpressive. For the price - and frankly for the reputation - they need to step it up. Location will only get you so far.
Love this restaurant .... this was our 5th visit!
Service was a little rushed this time though! Maybe because we were there with older kids .... mains came before we finished apps. Otherwise a great place.
Food was delivered quickly and was really good. Server was great at the start but a little slow at the end.
Great food and wine selection. I loved the Buffalo cheese plate and my pizza. My friends found the pasts a little too al dente.
Overall experience was really good, I was quite surprised that the chef would not substitute rigatoni for spaghetti when both were on the menu.
What was once a go-to place has been reduced to a mediocre restaurant. The pasta is no longer prepared perfectly (takes al dente to a new level and where exactly is the truffle oil?). And just when you think it couldn't get worse, the wine list has dropped any bottle under $50. After many years of dedication I won't be back.
Overall, this dining experience was only fair. Food and ambiance were fine but the experience didn't work for us. We will not return. We felt rushed. Our food arrived before we had finished our cocktail. Wines were pricey. I perceived our server to be somewhat condescending when responding to questions about the menu.
We love this restaurant when we are in the area...great food and great atmosphere!
I've eaten here a number of times and the food is consistently solid. It is always delicious and fun place to eat. The menu has a good variety of different types of pastas, pizzas, and meat/fish dishes to please a couple or a group. Space is at a premium in this little gem, making it a little more lively and noisy and fun. This is not the place for an intimate dinner, but it is a great place to eat and get to the theatre or Massey Hall.
The food did come very quickly, so pace yourself.
Was disappointed in the food. Didn't finish the salad. Pizza was bland and the pasta was dry ( not enough sauce). Very disappointing considering we had much better experience at other Terroni locations.
Food was very good, wine selection decent but service was very slow and inconsistent. Had to ask multiple people to take our order many times and the restaurant was not even that busy.
Food always on point. Can’t beat the quality, definitely one of the better Italian places in the city.
Concert at massey hall
Excellent service- thank you as always Melissa! The wine, pizza and antipasto was enjoyed as well.
Nice post conference wind down. Great atmosphere. Simple, tasty Italian fare.
Appetizers were fun, mains were fresh, authentic italian cooking, all perfectly cooked.
Had early dinner on Saturday before attending Opera L'Atelier. Very impressed with this restaurant. The food was inventive and well prepared, the ambience was warm and friendly the service was excellent, and the price was reasonable for Toronto. Will definitely be back.
Everything was solid at this spot and they had a gluten free menu which is a plus. The only problem was that the wine by the glass was horrific. We had a bottle that was fine but the white wine by the glass was really bad. An unforced error.
I went there for lunch with work friends. Great service, the wine suggestions was good and the pasta was amazing. Will definitely go again.
Love this place, the food, the people, the design of the restaurant. Grilled oyster mushrooms over arugula. Pizza with pear, walnuts, cheese, prosciutto, and honey. Tiramisu for desert.
The fish special " John Dory" was really fishy. The mussels were rubbery. Definitely not fresh. The pizza appetizer was good. Tiramisu was not great. Service was very good though. Food ... not so much 😝
Sat at the bar. Excellent bartender. Attentive and friendly.
Nothing at all wrong with this place. I do resent having to meet a minimum character for this review.
