La Bergamote - Hell's Kitchen
Excellent tasty food. Small restaurant. Reservations highly recommended.
Great service and great food
I had lunch here with an old friend who had just arrived on a cruise ship. Comfortable light bistro fare. Onion soup was tasty, but the crouton was so tough and chewy that I needed to use my knife to cut it up. I surmise that they did not toast the crouton enough.
Service was attentive and competent.
Great food and Atmosphere and would definitely recommend you here for breakfast, Brunch or Lunch
This is a great, little restaurant which deserves increased patronage. Everything is well executed and the food is superb. The deserts selection is to die for, and the staff is always one step ahead of you in catering to your needs.
We liked La Bergamote on previous visits, but this time their gaspacho was way too spicy and their salade nicoise wasn't as good as on previous occasions, with the tuna not really medium rate. The restaurant is an informal, cute space but charging $25 for corkage in a place like this, with a so-so wine list, grates on me. We probably won't go back, except perhaps for a dessert, since their desserts are the stars at this restaurant.
With MCC and A.R.T. theaters now back to back, a bunch of these little wine bar/bistros have sprung up on the far west side of Hells Kitchen. La Bergamote is a nice enough entry with wide windows and three little rooms. The kitchen is tiny and food is slow to come out, which is tough if you're trying to catch a show. We therefore decided to go with pate, cheese and salad, all of which were tasty and made a perfectly fine early dinner on a warm night with a glass of chilled wine.
Great food and service!
Our office just moved to Eleventh ave. And we were happy to discover this hidden gem.
Very slow and inattentive service. Not enough staff for Friday the food was very good, takeout snacks and bread were very good
Only 2 girls for the small space and outside. Took too long to refill water and coffee, but the quality would bring us back but only if in the neighborhood
It was not much of a French restaurant other than the cheese plate and the pate, everything else on the limited menu was mostly a mix of American and Italian cuisine. It was good but not what we expected from a French restaurant.
great location and service. didn't like the steak sandwich as it had a big piece of gristle. the other food was fantastic though.
Perfect, quiet mid morning breakfast. This European spot delivered well prepared food, very courteously and promptly. Coffee came with complimentary hot foamed milk. Brioche accompanied our eggs. Quiet and classy.
Inconsistent service. French onion soup was served cold. The other one was served hot. They replaced it however. And they flickered the lights on/off for us to leave. We had to sit and wait longer for the food. The restaurant was empty and I feel that they shouldn’t have to rush us out. However, the food was tasty and delicious !!!
Loved everything about this place, servers friendly and accommodating, food delicious.
Charming little neighborhood bistro, delicious entrees and desserts!
Our French onion soup and coq au vin were delicious, but we didn’t know we would be eating in a small bakery full of families with small children. We could have used a good cocktail, but, alas, they do not have a full bar so we settled for a bottle of wine that complemented the food well. We took a blind shot, and if we lived in the neighborhood it would probably be a good breakfast/lunch spot, but I don’t recommend it for dinner.
An embarrassing and disappointing evening. Nearly $500 for a party of five. Nothing on the menu stood out. How hard is it to cook green beans? Why would anybody boil an octopus, leaving it slimy and rubbery, rather than grill or broil it? The Coq au Vin was a sort of shepherd's pie casserole over mashed potatoes. When your menu only has six items, there's really no excuse for doing them all poorly.
An undiscovered gem. I don’t want it to get too discovered because I want to be able to go there all the time and not experience crowds. It was quiet. Service was wonderful and friendly. We had a baby with us and it was wonderfully child friendly. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared, not the least bit overcooked. We had a great dinner snd evening there.
The food was delicious and the desserts were fantastic. It is a very small restaurant, but was quiet and very comfortable The service was excellent. For the very reasonable price, the restaurant is a great choice.
delicious. onion soup was wonderful and the baby lettuce with figs amazing.
Great food. We were very happily surprised.
I met a friend for lunch before heading over to the Armory Show. Our server was very kind and accommodating, however, our soup and meals were quite bland and the chocolate pastry for dessert was stale.
Onion soup excellent. Desserts fabulous. Everything else eh. Menu had fewer items than on line.
The food is excellent especially desserts. The service is attentive and quick. Some of the furnishings need to be updated for the price. A great place to spend time with a good friend.
Overall I enjoyed it- the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I rated the noise level as high because of the sound track that was playing in the background and honestly was unnecessary and annoying.
Great food! Good wine.Great service highly recommend for checking out
Lovely spot for dinner chosen for its proximity to the Irish Arts Center.
Nice place. Great French onion soup. Outstanding dessert choices.
A French bistro/bakery with very good food and pastries. The dining room is simple and casual. The service was good. Everyone was very friendly.
I have always liked this place for breakfast and for their outstanding pastries but had never been there for dinner. The menus had sandwiches and salads as well as full entrees. It was quiet, delicious and I highly recommend if you actually want to hear your conversation. The night we went there were not many patrons. I think this was because it is far west and it was a theatre night. Better for us but I hope others try La Bergamote for dinner. I will return.
Really quality food and very quiet. The restaurant is also a patisserie
My friends and I thought our meals were delicious and the service was attentive. We enjoyed the background music and the small candles on the table. We would go back in the future if in this neighborhood.
It’s was ok! But simple and empty
Very cute and the food is wonderful..responsive service. A few delightful tables by the window with privacy.
Finally got in to Bergamote on my third try. Glad I did. Great service and food. Restaurant was quiet and our server professional.
We dined at 6 pm. Service was good, but restaurant was also practically empty. Noticed most people came in to pick up take out. Had the special soup, kale and barley, very bland. Charcuterie plate was good but nothing special. Overall, ok dining but over priced for “ok”. Server was friendly.
Meal was fine, but pricey for what it was. Disappointing to have Italian bread in a French restaurant
Our meal was absolutely delicious and the service was very gracious. The atmosphere was a little cold, but everything else was great. Our server even brought us a small piece of salmon for our daughter because we wanted her to have some extra protein. This special request was met with kindness, and we received the salmon quickly (which happened to be cooked perfectly). I love when restaurants go out of their way to be extra helpful. Thank you for a very nice dining experience.
Food is amazing!
