La Belle Epoque Wine Bistro
We ordered crepes, which were over done almost burnt. There was no french bread. The service people were more interested in talking to each other than paying attention to their guests. The escargot was served in almost a soup. The salads were good. A very disappointing evening.
Just having a "French" name appears to be sufficient to overcharge for COSTCO grade food. Anyone who has ever been to France and had the pleasure of eating in even the most humble of restaurants would be disappointed here. The "savory crepes" were NOT galettes (buckwheat flour has to be used as stated on the menu, but clearly not the case), and it goes on from there. The pork chop was a tough as shoe leather. The roasted duck, minuscule and not roasted, was without much taste, and the chocolate fondant could have come from TraderJoe's. Oh, well, French in name, but that is where it stops. There are much better choices in Media.
Nice place in Media...good food and service, nice atmosphere!
I've been waiting for years for my family to take me there. The only restaurant in Media I haven't tried. Reservations at 5:00. It was raining out and a few of us had to stand outside in the rain before they opened the door. Wes was a great server, very personable, but failed to tell me that the lamb was not part of the prix fixe. That's why there are only 4 stars.. Although my family didn't care about the price, I did. Anyway, the french onion soup and mussels were perfect, the cheese plate was delicious except for the one orange cheese that was so hard and old you couldn't eat it, 15.00 is a little steep. The lobster bisque had no lobster in it but it was delicious. The lamb chops were okay, not as tender as they should have been, the vegetables could have been cooked a little more. The orange zabaglione was incredible! Unusual for a french restaurant to have an italian dessert. I actually was looking forward to a napoleon but they didn't have them. Nor did they offer bouillabaisse. My husband and son are not fans of french food but liked the Angus burgers and fries. Anyway, yes I will go back for the soup and the mussels and dessert. (p.s. the 12.00 French Martini's were delicious but light in the vodka)
Outstanding meal!! Came here for lunch with a big group and everything was delicious! Service was perfect, we never felt rushed and were able to chat and enjoy our time together. Seating was tight but felt cozy not restrictive. The crepes were amazing, and basically so was everything else! we had: the Escargots De Bourgogne; Croque-Monsieur; Le French Dip; La Saumon Fumé; La Poulet; and La Brie. We had a delightful white wine and the cocktails were expertly crafted. I would love to come back here for a date with my husband! We really enjoyed this restaurant and cannot wait to come back! So glad we found this place on Open Table! Bon Appetite!
Brought my mom in for Mother’s Day after we had a fantastic dining experience, it was our second time there and everything was amazing for dinner. Best eggs Benedict my moms ever had and they were extremely accommodating, James was our waiter and he was the best I’ve had in Media yet! Can’t wait to come back!
Food was great! The atmosphere itself made you feel like you were actually in a French bistro. Loved it!
Our waiter, who knows us, was very attentive and made sure that our dinners were outstanding.
Great little bistro. Outstanding cocktails, and crepes. The lamb entree was great too. Wines are reasonably priced and the selection is good. Service impeccable
We go here every month or two, often for dinner, though this time was brunch. The food is always terrific and the service generally good - this visit the service was excellent. The portions are generous and we've taken food home on more than one occasion. I find their bar drinks quite good, but on the small side.
We'll certainly keep coming back.
Fun, small local French bistro. Food is great, service is ok as the service team definitely has a “ stop bothering me” attitude. We’ve been to Paris multiple times and even the French are more welcoming and hospitable. Despite that, we brought our own wine and paid the $15 fee well worth it, the food is very good and we had crepes as an appetizer for the six of us ( 3, slices to share, were yummy/ the seafood, chicken, and salmon) and then for dinner the filet, for two of us, very good... the lamb, very good.. the trout very good, the poultry, fine, and the steak frites good very, very salty.
I Love La Belle Epoque. The service is impeccable along with the outstanding food and wine choices. I think 2 of the best items on the menu are the escargot and the trout. You can actually dine here. I so look forward to going again and again.
food is always outstanding and service is the best. Wes is the man!
Always so good!
Food wasn’t good. Ambiance felt cheap but the food was expensive.
Charming restaurant with great food and terrific service. Would definitely recommend to friends.
This is the first time we visited La Belle Epoque and did not order the mussels...they are the best we ever tasted and look forward to them every time we go. However, it was restaurant week and the deal could not be passed up. Salad, appetizer, entrée and dessert...all for $35! My husband enjoyed the escargot...the sauce was amazing. His duck looked great. My puff pastry asparagus app was really good and the scallops were tasty as well. It's always nice there and enjoy it every time.
Absolutely amazing food, very different! Great martinis!
Excellent service and food. The noise level was an issue early in the dinner because of someone at the bar.
Visited during Media Restaurant Week which is naturally busy. Service was pretty slow. Food was very good but not great that we experienced during multiple visits.
Being there very much gives you the French feel. And the wines are terrific. Thank you.
The food and service are consistently excellent. I love the wine list and the house cocktails, too.
Excellent French cuisine. Great food, wine and service. Loved the background music.
Returned here after several years to celebrate a special birthday. La Belle did not disappoint. Still intimate with wonderful food (many traditional French classics) and attentive service. Watching the occasional trolley silently go by on State Street reminded us of a side street restaurant in Paris. A wonderful night.
I always enjoy dinners at La Belle Epoque. If it is just my spouse and me, we sit at the bar. If we have other people with us we enjoy sitting at a table. Love the ambience.
The food and the service are always outstanding at La Belle Époque. We joined friends for a lively evening of food, train and Laughter. Thank you for keeping the pace of our meals so perfectly timed
Cute place. Very nice service. Wines by the glass are fairly priced. The Caesar salad was excellent. I had the red snapper with crab risotto and spinach, which was very good and just the right portion. Our group also had the hanger steak and the chicken crepes. All good. Our only complaint is that the noise level is very high. But we will definitely return.
Always a geeat meal here and the service from wes is the best. Great spot!
Food was fantastic, service was exceptional and the wine pairing was soot on. Would highly recommend.
Great service and always wonderful food.
Quaint small French restaurant in Media. Food was outstanding. We had the scallops, mussels and escargot for appetizers. Those mussels! OMG! Make sure you have bread to dip into the broth. The scallops were melt in your mouth delicious. My 18 year old devoured the escargot and we all dipped our bread in the garlic sauce. So good. For our main course we had the filet, lamb shank, grilled salmon, grilled hangar steak and the lemon grilled chicken. The chicken was a bit dry and flavorless but the rest of our entrees were outstanding. Now for the bad - service was a tad slow, the noise level is very high and the seating is a bit tight. Despite those negatives I would definitely go back.
It was the second time my husband and I had dinner at La Belle Epoque. This time we brought my daughter and her friend. All our meals were delicious. The service was good. All told, it was a really nice time.
Recommended by a friend. Everything was wonderful from the drinks to desserts. All the food was delicious. I had the duck. The sweet potato gratin was a delicious side with duck. Myself and others were more than happy I wished that crepes were on appetizer
Food was delicious!
Wished we had a different table. Table was too tight for party size.
Took over an hour to get our food and then it cane out wrong. Sent it back twice
Great service, lovely table fab food!!!
Caesar salad, eggplant frite and the best mussels!!!
Had a choice of either sitting by the drafty entrance or in the back next to the curtain where one could hear the employees talking on the other side. The scallops appetizer was burnt and rubbery while the main course of grilled pork chop was undercooked & tasteless.
We enjoyed the meal and the wines we selected were very good. We have been here several times and would definitely would return and recommend this restaurant to others.
