La Belle Epoque Wine Bistro Ratings and Reviews
La Belle Epoque is one of our area favorites. Has classic bistro-style French dishes, including a selection of savory crêpes. They now have a liquor license and a reasonable wine selection. The noise level is low enough that you can actually have a conversation in this bistro. The waitstaff are attentive and very helpful.
If you're looking for a restaurant with good food, wine, and ambiance, this place will not disappoint. I usually order crepes (savory and sweet available). There is always a choice of several good wine by the glass options. Be sure to give yourself a little extra time to find parking. There is a public garage just a half block away. This is a consistently good place to go with knowledgeable servers.
The food was ok, nothing spectacular. There were 2 young children eating at a table and watching a video while we dined - I think they were the children of our server - they were well behaved but our server seemed to pay more attention to them than her tables....and there was a hair in my salad which is not enjoyable.
It was our first time having eating at this place. We had lunch it was very good, fresh and tasty. It has a nice French flair to the food . We will return to try some of the other menu items like the selection of crepes and salads they offer on the lunch menu.
We arrived to an almost empty restaurant a little earlier than we had planned. This was no problem and we were welcomed and seated at a perfect table away from the door where we could speak quietly. Wes the waiter was very attentive and helpful. He made recommendations on choices as we asked, and also helped us to make a good wine selection as well. As the restaurant filled the noise level increased, but it was certainly not loud. A delightful evening a delicious meal, highly recommend the trout or the Le Mer crepe. This place is definitely a keeper.
I took my wife to La Belle Epoque in Media, PA, for her birthday. We loved the decor. We went on a Tuesday night in November, when it was not crowded. The French onion soup was very good. My wife had rabbit, and I had the filet mignon. I enjoyed the filet and asparagus. My wife said that the rabbit was good. It was a bit on the pricier side, about $30 per plate. My son, who is a finicky eater, enjoyed his pineapple juice, burger, and fries. All in all, it was a nice evening. I think La Belle Epoque deserves 4.5 stars because, while the experience was very good, I would not rave on about it. Still, I would gladly return one evening in the summer during Dining Under the Stars to try their duck.
I have been here for lunch but not dinner and thought that it would be great to try during restaurant week this week. It was wonderful!!! The roasted beet salad was the best I've ever tasted and my daughter had the duck which was superb. For dessert we had the crème brulee and a strawberry crepe and they were the crowning touches to an excellent meal!!!
The host and our server were so welcoming and courteous, which is a rarity nowadays in most places, that it made our dining experience all the more pleasurable.
C'est magnifique! We look forward to returning soon!
Love this restaurant. This time I went for brunch and it was lovely.
I’ve been a fan of their classic French food since I moved to the area over 15 years ago.
The service is always great and I have so many favorites on the menu it’s hard to single anything out. That said... the steak and Fries are amazing and the creme brûlée is the perfect chaser, lol. Seriously, anything you try will be great and there are great vegetarian choices too. You can really bring anyone to this fabulous cosy gourmet cafe in Media and they will find something to order they’re going to love.
P.S. try the French Martini. You’re welcome. 😘
Love the brunch, excellent service, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, reasonably priced for the area, delicious food and full bar. I can only enjoy this place seasonally as I'm only in this side of town twice a year. When I'm in this city this is the first place I come for brunch and usually the last one before returning home. Nothing in the menu will disappoint you and hostess will accommodate you as per your request in the OpenTable notes when you make the reservation. Open Tuesday-Sunday.
My husband and father had the mussels appetizer and raved about how great it was. Good flavor and very tender mussels. I had the bacon and Brie crepe. It was amazing. Everything we had was really tasty and our server was wonderful. Very nice and attentive. We love this place and have been here several times and always enjoy our meals.
Back in town for a month & I had to come my very 1st day, as always, the best. Delicious food, yummy drinks - full bar - brunch mimosas specials for $6 Sat & Sun. Pretty awesome service too, can't go wrong. We were seated by the window (as I requested), ordered the French Toast, Eggs Benedict, side of potatoes, mimosa, coffee & nonetheless, French 75.... Oooooooh, mmm-mmmmmm, ah.
You'll understand when you take a bite. Place is cozy and there's outside seating on beautiful days. Street meter parking available.
Started with cocktails. The flutes of champagne with ginger were refreshing. The mussels were a good starter and we all ordered crepes. I had the chicken/mushroom/spinach/cheese crepe. Husband ordered the same but he thought it had too much spinach in it. Daughter ordered the La Mere which had a nice mix of shrimp, crab and lobster. Wait staff at the bar and tables are pleasant and knowledgeable about the liquor/food. Very pleasant atmosphere for a busy Friday night.
Location and atmosphere was great. Service was great. Food not so great. Let's start with the rolls, that was pretty good however the butter did have a slight funky taste to it. Next was the soup. Cream of mushroom. Pretty delicious. Salad...was ok. Nothing to brag about. Escargot, now I can not say for myself how this tasted. It's snail. So that's pretty gross to me in general however the 2 people who had the nerve to try said it was really good. We ordered 2 dinners of the salmon with potatoes and green beans. The salmon was in my opinion and in my daughters opinion not good at all. I thought it had a strong fishy smell. I know it's fish but it was a pretty strong smell. The potatos I was excited to see that they were actually made with real potatoes and not the fake boxed kind. They had a very strange flavor and a horrid after taste. Green beans are green beans. The other dinner was a pork chop, it was over cooked and dry. Mashed was tasty. Asparagus was not edible. I could not bite though the stringy layer. Last was the hanger steak. It was ok. The best part of that plate was the French fries. They were a hit for all four of us. We then had a dessert each. A mixed berry crepe and a Nutella crepe. They were both great. Other 2 dessert was the vanilla bean crème brûlée. Well this was the last straw and the nail on the coffin. I was so looking forward to mine. One of my favorite desserts. Well the damn thing was burnt. Completely burnt. I would have liked to ask for a new one but I was just ready to leave by that point. This was my oldest daughters 14th birthday dinner. It was supposed to be a nice surprise. New foods to try, I actually picked that place based on the escargot and the ratings. Unfortunately it was not enjoyable for us.
The food was very good. Service - well...
Our James was very nice. He got caught settling bills for a group of 7 that wanted separate checks. He was totally involved so we were left unserved for a good 15 minutes. Meanwhile, there were 2 other people walking around who didn't help him or come over and acknowledge us. I thought that was poor teamwork and customer service. James was very sweet and tried to make up for it.
The crepes are especially good, but we also enjoyed the trout and the cheese plate appetizer. Our waiter had good recommendations, when asked, was friendly and had a European style about him. We were there for early Sunday dinner and it was quiet. I've been there for Sunday brunch, when it is busier.
Met a friend at LaBelle Epoque for dinner, which also happened to be a Dining Under the Stars night. Dining Under the Stars is a unique dining experience that the awesome town of Media offers May - September. To Be Experienced.
Service was attentive without us feeling pressured. Menu selection was imaginative and
varied, can't imagine not finding something to your liking. Excellent beverages and food.
This is not my first visit and will not be my last.
Relaxing and fulfilling evening.
