Great food. No problem accommodating a guest with dietary restrictions. A bit pricey.
L2 grill was excellent. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. They did run out of the main meat dish but it was replaced with butter chicken.
Wallace gave us superb service. Very attentive. We found the dinner courses varied . The salmon was quite good. The other members of dinner party enjoyed the beef tenderloin . The Chaga Broth was way to bitter. The green tea cured duck was delicious
Your main dish is always fish, it would be better if you can provide more cold cuts as alternatives.
We arrived early and had to wait, then people arriving after us were seated first. Because we had a vegan eater in our group, the time to receive our meals was delayed versus other tables. The food was delicious, but timing was terrible. Our entire sit-down stay lasted 3 hours...I would recommend to this restaurant that they hire more Chefs to help with special occasions such as Christmas Day...very un-organized!
We have been here once before for Christmas Day supper. It was excellent that time. This time the food, while it tasted good, was cold. The service was a bit slow but we did find out that they were short a few waiters/waitresses so you can overlook that once it's explained. We were just having a leisurely supper so it was ok, but I did hear people complaining.
The staff are not very attentive to the needs of the customers... poor customer service!!!
A sumptuous meal, with top-knotch service, making a special day all that much better. Not cheap, but well worth the expense.
A delightful choice for a romantic Christmas Eve dinner. This was our second year, but will not be our last. A new tradition.
We were vegetarian and they accommodated us with a warm entree. That was appreciated by us. I would have liked another option as well. Vegan burger does not quite cut for Xmas time. The stir fry was really good.
We came here to celebrate a 40th birthday. It was extremely loud because there was a christmas party booked there the same night. Wish I knew this when I was making the reservation. Food was tasty but came out cold. I am a stickler for my food being hot to enjoy it totally. Especially when paying a little more for a nice meal.
Great prices, food was ok. They don’t know how to cook Chinese food, they shouldn’t try. I was very satisfied for the price though.
Its a very small selection of saturday luncheon buffet. But the service we got from servers are great.
We hadn’t been to the restaurant in the Fantasy Land Hotel for a number of years so I was eager to return as it was a spot we went every November for dinner after shopping at the mall.
The restaurant has undergone a renovation since our last visit and the menu now favours a more casual style with fewer selections. The wine list is sparse but reasonably priced.
Our meals were served missing our starch request that was brought out after I could get our servers attention, about 5 minutes. In that time our meals had cooled down considerably. Steaks were mediocre but cooked to the desired done ness.
There was a group seated in the rear of the restaurant that was quite loud and their conversation was the most prominent throughout the restaurant.
With all the choices in the mall I would try somewhere else before we returned. Not the experience I expected.
We had an amazing anniversary meal! Fresh buns with butter, martinis, cheese plate, the Fantasy Platter (steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster tails, potatoes and veggies) , chocolates, and cake! The food was delicious, cooked perfectly and the atmosphere was fancy and romantic. Our server made sure we were taken care of and kept us laughing! Would recommend to anyone!
Mediocre bar quality food wanting to be high end restaurant. Never had so much fat in my lamb
Table was not set properly. Server came with coffee, disappeared, and we had to search for spoons as she did not return. Why not just put a knife fork and teaspoon on the tables when setting up?
The food was amazing but our server wasn't knowledgeable or personable. The server at the table behind us was so good to her customers. Ours didn't speak much at all. Very "business like" and not casual enough at all.
There was no gluten free options for the meat on the buffet which was a shock because L2 is normally very good for that. It’s disappointing so we’ll see if we’ll be back next time.
I expected a more upscale Dining experience but it was disappointingly underwhelming for the price. The food taste and quality were lacking. I read about the chef on the website and was excited. The chefs specialty chicken was dry and bland. There was decent prime rib but it was on the fatty side and there were no potatoes to go with it. If you serve crab legs, serve with butter! The fruit was fresh and was nice to have chocolate fountain.
Food is high quality but the chefs aren’t educated in food allergies so make reservations at your own discretion.
Had a great day celebrating anniversary and daughters’ birthdays! Food was great. Staff was awesome! Not much else I can say. Thanks!!!
Sadly, L2 has gone down a step or two. This event (10yr anniversary) we found management + menu changed. We were hoping for our usual great experience. No so this time. There are some bugs to work out.
What stood out the most was the lack of training that our server displayed. He seemed unfamiliar with the menu & lacked wine training. He did not present the bottle to us to inspect and verify it was the correct one we ordered- but I could see the label as he clutched it close to his chest. After opening the bottle he seemed at a loss as what to do. He poured me a taste and seemed confused as to protocol as he asked me if he should leave the bottle for us to pour. I said that was fine, so we poured our own glasses for the entire meal. He left the table with the cork -- and then returned a few minutes later with the cork and put it back in the bottle (it was a red Malbec) -- I told him not to do that with red, as the wine has to breathe. He thought it would be the wine "fresh". (oh dear)
Why is it that this new management or senior staff isn't helping out the junior/new staff? That act alone of bringing back the cork and pushing it back into the neck raises some sanitary questions. Where was that cork in those lost minutes?
We are not squeamish or germ-a-phobes - but that wine faux pas and some inedible greens (under-cooked collard) means a fail for the new L2. The steak was good but the lamb contained 2 small rib portions (ie: overpriced). The menu said lamb was to be served with Pomegranate BBQ sauce, cheddar biscuit, and broccoli bacon grape slaw. The sauce was a Mexican hot sauce, tasted like the jarred Frank's Red Hot. The substituted greens were not up to par. Who's to blame? Waiter, cook or management?
The staff did redeem themselves a little with a complimentary dessert for us to share. The $150 price for two, with tax + tip (2 entrees + one of the lower priced wines) = might be a very long while before we're back. I'll keep an eye on the reviews.
excellent food especially the desserts, we plan on coming back for the Sunday brunch twice a month, we are hoping to try out the daily buffet this week. 5 out of 5 stars. reminds us of the Carvery at the Westin hotel during the 80's
always enjoy L2 grill . you can have great meal , then shop in the mall
Went for brunch. Food was typical brunch menu. Food was good but nothing special though. Service was friendly but a little slow considering was not very busy.
I was taking my son for his 5th birthday. We with my parent and very pregnant sister waited so long for everything. 20min for drinks, 35mins for appetizers, another 30+ for meals. By the time we got out of there it was almost 9 o'clock. We had to ask for a bill three times and we expressed our complete discomfort was sitting so long WAITING. We were the only table there when we got there at six and two other tables were cleared out before we left. We did not order anything out of the norm. So there really was no excuse for how long it took.
I go for lunch every two to three weeks. It is always good, especially the soups and the salad bar. Our server was good with picking up the dirty dishes and refilling coffee cups.
The only negative was that on my reservation through ‘open table’ I requested a table and definitely didn’t want a booth. Obviously someone did not read it properly as they had us in a booth. A booth does not work with six people when it is a buffet! The server and hostess quickly remedied the seating and we were seated at a table.
Our dinner came as part of a package I purchased through the hotel. The deal offered a combination of steak and seafood that we enjoyed.
Great food! Great ambience! Great service!
What Great service! We had Sunday Brunch for Father’s Day. Excellent food and fantastic staff!
Have been before and generally good experiences in the past but disappointed in service on Father's Day 2018. I was called early morning (7:15 am on Father's Day Sunday) to be advised that breakfast buffet time at L2 was changed to be only until 10am instead of the usual 11am and advised we could be moved to L1 for the same meal service which would be until 11am. We had tried to call the restaurant several times the day prior to confirm timing of the breakfast buffet with no answer only to be called early morning and awoken to be advised of the change last minute. Once we arrived we decided we would move down to L1 and were promptly seated and food was good. However, our server did not come back often and did not refill coffee when asked later in the meal. Certainly that was unfortunate but somewhat understandable given how busy it was that morning. The worst was that we were asked not once, but twice, to vacate our table when we were not fully done our meal, had not gotten our coffee refill and saw that another party (who had arrived and been seated for longer than ours) was not asked to vacate their spot. We had not been at our table for any longer than perhaps 1 hour when we were asked to vacate due to a "long line outside" the establishment and were asked by the hostess if we were just "hanging out". Having made a reservation for the table in advance and still not done our meal, nor spending excess time taking up the table, I must say I am disappointed in the hostess and manager for their unprofessional behavior to us as customers.
I will add that I also witnessed the manager asking another table to have their children vacate their seats to allow another group into the restaurant which I feel is unprofessional and in poor taste as the adult members of that party were still eating their meal as well.
Unfortunate the establishment acted in such a way and serious reconsideration as to whether we will return in the future.
I was surprised that this place has high chairs and boosters and is actually very accommodating to families with children. We spontaneously decided to celebrate an occasion while at WEM with the kids and this was a perfect place to go - fancy yet kid-friendly. The staff were great, food is very good... Well done!
Breakfast buffet is very good and a great value t $15.99 per person.
Host was half the reason to consider going again. Great guy very personable. Food was great and presentation was also great.
Great date night, thank you ! I would recommend L2 to a friend.
My boyfriend and I brought my mother in law to L2 Grill for a Mother's Day dinner and we were let down. Our server did her best to rectify the situation, so I will give her credit for that.
Firstly, our appetizers came out after 45 minutes, and we had seen people plated and already eating that came in after us.
Secondly, after asking why our main courses were taking so long (over an hour), the waitress quipped "well, I'm not the one cooking the food". That remark left a bitter taste in our mouths.
We finally received our main dishes, with my mother in law's food (the seafood linguine) being dry and over cooked, and my boyfriend's dish, which was the strip loin steak, was under cooked- he asked for his steak well done, and it was rare.
Out of everyone, I was the only one who had a decent meal. Our waitress knew something was off, so she offered desert on the house and once I had asked to speak to a manager about our poor meals, she said one wasn't in, and so so offered to comp. My boyfriend's meal.
This was enough, I thought. I still left the waitress and staff a fair tip, but none of us will return to this establishment.
We went to there for celebration of mother's day. The location of the seat is near to the entrance which is not very comfortable. For the food, not much choice and do not refill quickly. For this price of buffet. I suggest to choose other.
Have been to the L2 a few times. The food is always amazing and the service is great!!! Will definitely go back!!
We made reservations there to celebrate an 18th Birthday. The food and service were top notch. We were treated very special and this meal and how we were treated will be remembered forever. We'll be back again!
