L. Woods Tap and Pine Lodge Ratings and Reviews
The food at L Wood is always reliably good. The service on our particular evening was good, but somewhat distracted and a number of things (like bread and side dishes) had to get tracked down. By 7:30pm there was no more fried chicken and no more onion bread (we got marble rye instead which was OK, but not the same).
Friendly staff, 5:15pm reservations called and changed to 6pm. Honored and seated promptly. Restaurant was Extremely Busy, walk-ins 45-60 min wait for table. Large variety/selection menu items. Great food and service. Save room for dessert. Repeat customers, Fantastic value.
Was seated in back room and the noise level was deafening. There were a number of families with small unruly, screaming kids. The waitress must have had too many tables because, though she tried and was pleasant, it was difficult to get her attention. When we asked the busboy for a spoon, we got a dirty look and never received the spoon. We asked another for ketchup. That took a long time. Disappointing experience at this dinner. And the fried chicken dinner was not as good as usual!
We were excited about going back to L. Woods for the Pork Tenderloin with mash potatoes and corn. We both got this wonderful Wednesday Special. So good. I have to say our meals were very good, but Amber was outstanding. She’s a total professional. She makes the dining experience great. Too bad we were stuffed because we really want the Banana Cream Pie.
Been going to L. Woods for years. Good food, great atmosphere, quality service. Night we went food was “OK” not consistent with past visits. Service was bad. Waitress was very sweet and personable but definitely not up to speed. More than once we had to ask the guy with the water to find our waitress. That doesn’t happen at L Woods. She was probably new.
My husband and I have eaten at L. Woods numerous times and have always enjoyed great food and great service. We treated our guests to dinner here (and made a special note of their anniversary celebration on that day when we made the reservation). We were a half hour early for our reservation due to lack of traffic coming from the Loop. They said no problem and seated us right away (it was not crowded, but was filling up). We ordered drinks and took some time to place our order. Drinks came quickly and we were happy with the quick service. We placed our orders but were not served for about an hour. This was highly unusual in our experience. Usually food comes a little after our drinks are done. We were not asked if we wanted more drinks and were told a couple of times that our meal was coming. We finally asked if there was a problem, but were assured the food was on its way. Ok, we were hungry but not in any great hurry. My husband and I had burgers.....not piping hot....fries were overcooked. Our guests were pleased with the daily special. This dinner reservation for 6pm midweek and as I said, not crowded but busy. The other disappointment was that the anniversary that I put into the special attention box on the reservation, was not even acknowledged. I thought that was bad. We weren't looking for anything big, but a comment on the day would have been thoughtful. Otherwise why even ask that on the Opentable reservation form?
The only thing I can think of is that they were short-staffed?
Despite this experience, I would return to L. Woods, although we may wait a while.
Amber is an excellent server. Our meal was taken care of with professionalism and with down to earth charm. I had the Pork Tenderloin with mash potatoes and corn special. It was not only delicious...it was huge. My husband was happy to help me finish it. He also had a barbecue pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. We really enjoyed our entrees a lot. The atmosphere at L Woods is very charming and just fun to look around. Only one problem. We wished we had room for the Banana Cream Pie. Next time.
Been here many times before and am never disappointed. My boyfriend order their filet mignon medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I had the pounded chicken a la sima and it was excellent. Staff is always friendly and around when you need them. Can't wait to go again!
The $20.18 deal for NY Eve was ADORABLE and delicious! A GREAT idea to bring in 2018 at a great price!!
Caesar salad and Prime Rib and Key Lime Pie-ALL FANTASTIC-of course!!
The only issue was the waiter clearly was NOT pleased at his potential tip, although we DID have drinks on top of it, but he literally served the main course while 3 out of 4 of us were still eating salad! Did feel a bit rushed except when a refill of iced tea needed 3 reminders.
Will keep an eye out to NOT have him in the future-will ALWAYS go back, though!
