L. Woods Tap and Pine Lodge Ratings and Reviews
I had the chicken a la sima which was good as always. My girlfriend had a special boneless braised short rib which she did not like at all and couldn’t eat due to an overwhelming vinegar taste. We told the waiter, he apologized and took it off our bill with no issues. I guess it was just not the thing to order that night. We will be back again and probably opt for a steak.
This is the second time there with my spouse , and somehow we ended up ordering the exact same thing. Rib & Chicken Combo and Chopped Salad to share. I tasted the Walleye Fish and Chips too. All was excellent. We were mistakenly given Mac & Cheese instead of Au Gratin Potatoes. The waiter made it right by getting the correct dish and leaving the other side. All the food was very good.
Moved to Florida in 2005, and returned 12/17 to see my family. There were so many restaurants in Chicago that I missed and wanted to go to, but I moved L Woods to the top of my list, because it's just that good. Pleased to report the restaurant hasn't changed a bit. Same great food, service and atmosphere!
Always consistent. We go often great neighborhood spot. My only complaint is that in all the years they’ve never changed their bread they offer with your dinner. Same old same old. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but if you eat their often it’s same old same old.
Great, personable service.
But, the food was mediocre at best. Wait person said the place was known for its barbeque and burgers. I ordered a burger, and it was terrible. Does not warrant the price. Decor was gaudy.
I would not recommend L. Woods restaurant to anyone.
Grandma’s day out and catch up time with her. A place for a party which is why the table next to us was loud, hence the moderate rating of noise level. Past experiences here have been known to be quiet and even romantic. However this night was not the case. Either way, food is always good and never fails me or my family. We will always come back.
L. Woods is a cute concept, very nice looking restaurant. But our food was only average, which is far below what I expect from a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant. Our group had three different fish dishes, each of which was really quite unremarkable. Another of our group had a pulled pork sandwich, which he considered very good-to-excellent in flavor. Side choices are generous in size, but it would be more interesting to have smaller portions and more options. Bread for the table also was unremarkable. There isn't enough here for a return trip.
Date night for the Wife and I, and what better place than L Woods? I typically would never order chicken at a supper club style restaurant but theirs was awesome. Cooked to perfection in a savory soy sauce, it made me reconsider chicken entrees. Wife got the Friday special Fish Fry (also delicious) and we shared everything. One of my favorite local spots, but also worth the drive if you're elsewhere in the city.
Fantastic ambience, service and food. The manager came to our table to make sure our first time was a pleasant one. Our server was very patient and never made us feel rushed to order. We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the lodge-like atmosphere. My parents loved it so much they are excited to come back down and visit me just to go to the restaurant!
The food was just fair. I had Sima's chicken and mashed potatoes. Both were very salty. My friend had the flatbread and Caesar salad. She said the salad was good but the flatbread was greasy and tasted terrible. My other friend had the Caesar salad with chicken. She liked it. The last few times we have eaten there we have been disappointed with the food.
We had a lovely lunch with great service. I love the cheese curds and the roast turkey entree. The chopped salad is our favorite in the city. The desserts are excellent, especially the ice cream sundaes and butterscotch pie. Yum! My only criticism is that it the yummy creamed spinach always seems to come out cold. I wish they would fix that issue.
I love L. Woods and always bring out-of-town friends here. We sat near the bar this time. I think that improved the noise level, but it was also not as crowded as usual.
It is always worth looking at the specials menu. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is an excellent offering.
