Kyoto Palace Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
First, despite a reservation we had a long wait time. Then our chef appeared distracted and made some mistakes with many at our table. When confronted with the mistakes politely there was not much effort to resolve the issue. For example, my boyfriend asked for medium rare steak and was given medium steak. When a comment was made the chef did not offer any type of apology or fix. Usually, the services here are much more positive.
This restaurant is great for larger groups with 8 or more people because they sit you on teppan (iron plate) cooking tables with seats for 8 people on one side and the chef stands on the other side. If you have more people there is another table with the diners facing your table and the two chefs stand in the middle. The chefs are the entertainment and chefs as they demonstrate their slicing and skills with the utensils while cooking in front of you. A great restaurant to meet people, but I do not recommend the restaurant for a quiet, romantic couple-only dinner.
Reserved a seat at 630pm on a Tue night. We had to wait 25min to get seated. Once seated, order and drinks are taken and served. Appetizer is served shortly. The 'show' started 7:40pm.
Food is decent for how it is prepared. There is no do over if its salty or not. I thought it was just right. I had a lobster-shrimp-filet mignon. It was cooked right as ordered.
No need to dress up for this setting, all the smoke gets in your clothes, and hair.
We arrive 10 minutes early for our 830pm reservation and was told the wait would be 20 Min, we were finally seated at 9pm. The waitnfor everything was loooooong. Our appetizers took forever and were MEH at best. Our chef was fun, but messed up and made the wrong rice for the whole table, which left my husband and I riceless for our meal. It was strange that we never got it and he didn’t even ask! In addition to MEH food, the greasy smoke in the air was disgustingly strong which made wanting to eat the food even less appealing.
I think it’s fun to try once, but other places are much better.
Our server was such a polite and helpful person. A member of our party changed his order as they were wheeling the food to the cook top and she was happy to adjust his order without hesitation. Additionally, we played musical chairs because a few people decided to share sake and the chef was very accommodating to the changes. We love this place for the food, fun, and great customer service!
We were celebrating our anniversary and made our reservation for 6pm but we weren’t seated until 6:25pm. Groups without reservations were seated before us. The group that ended up seated with us at our table had requested a specific chef when they made their reservation but he did not end up cooking for us because he was at a different table. They were very disappointed and made it very apparent. We ended up with a different chef which was okay with us because we were hungry. Our service/chef was slow and we didn’t finish dinner and leave the restaurant until after 8:30pm. 2 1/2+ hours for dinner for two was a LOT longer than we had planned on being there with a reservation. In the future if we eat here again, I will make sure we don’t have plans afterwards that we will have to miss.
The food however was delicious!
Food was as good as ever. The chef cooking our food was very good. Waitress wasnt the best as we never got my daughter's soup and my wife's diet coke without having to ask her about it after it didnt show up. Also... I had forgotten how noisy it gets in there. Especially when they seat a group of 10 noisy 20 somethings in the next table.
Any time a special occasion comes up or just a need for really great food and an amazing time I always suggest Kyoto palace. Never had bad service bad food or a bad chef. I can always count on Kioto to be a place that I am going to get what I pay for and have an amazing time thank you
Was very disappointed , this was a very special date with my girl ... was sat a table with 3 other people ... that's it !!! Are you kidding me ? Boring doesn't even cover it !!! Food was cooked with way too much oil on everything except meat , will not not come back , will not recommend !!!!
