Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse - Rowlett
To watch the Hibachi chefs cook before your eyes on the Hibachi table that is the dining experience you will always remember.
Kyoto has excellent dining service despite its huge size. We usually come here for dinner on weekends and the servers are up to speed even when its busy. We love th bento boxes and sushi as well, as they have something for each member of the family!
Kyoto has a great atmosphere that our family enjoy through out the years. The outdoor sitting with a lake view is perfect for a weekend lunch dining. We love the hibachi chef’s tricks for occasions, especially the fire volcano!
The happy hour is perfect for me and my buddies if we’re in a mood to drink some saki and delicious Japanese cuisine. The bar has alot of variety of drinks and has a great service!
Hibachi restaurant that has it all, from a dedicated bar, great hibachi chefs, outdoor sitting by the lake, and fresh sushi. Kyoto in Rowlett has so much to offer under 1 roof, when my family visits out of town, we always come here!
The hibachi chef gave us an amazing show and shoed us some sweet tricks up his sleeve. On top of that the lobster and filet were oh so tender and juicy. I definitely recommend!
Food and the chef were excellent, service was horribly slow an inattemtive.
The food was decent, but the service was horrible. Both of our drinks came out totally wrong and they didn’t offer to correct them. Nobody checked on us and we had to wait around for the bill. After about 20 minutes after we finished our meal, we physically searched out a member of staff to get the check. Probably won’t go back.
For a Japanese steakhouse experience this restaurant is at the top of the list. The hibachi experience is awesome. The service, food and ambience is great.
Our party had steak filet, shrimp and chicken. Our chef was gracious and amusing and we enjoyed his skill with the grill immensely - fried rice alone was worth the trip. An all around outstanding dinner.
Very disappointed. We have come here for years & always enjoyed the food so much. It was not what it once was. We had to ask for a lunch menu, at lunchtime. I had the Bento Box, which you choose one item from a list of various entrees. I had the teriyaki beef. It was a few strips of beef with teriyaki sauce over it. Before, it was a teriyaki beef meal. Besides the food, we always took home the tuxedo cake - that was not the same at all. It was a dry piece of chocolate cake. This was always a special place that my mother, my sister & I would go. We will not be back.
A truly horrible experience! Been to numerous Japanese Steakhouses over the years, with this being our third since moving to the Dallas area. First, the services was not good: slow to be seated at a table (even with a reservation, water cup ran dry, no follow-up after grill order. Also, the chef was talentless, not enthusiast, and kind of grumpy: no show, no moves, no jokes and, after screwing-up the onion choo-choo train stack, he said the hell with it and cut-up on the onion and prepared the meal. Sadly, the kids sitting across the table were not treated to an enjoyable show. Moreover, he cooked the vegetables in the burnt leftover grease from cooking the fish and meats. It tasted nasty and not good if you're a vegan. Oh, the fried rice was not flavorful (little sauce and few ingredients) and I grew depressed just watching the chef prepare our meal of very sad food. Finally, he did not even throw shrimp to anyone at the table. Could it get worse? Yes, the meal was terrible! Steak was overcooked (well-done and not medium rare), fried rice was flavorless, the salad was the lowest quality lettuce with a not very Japanese dressing (tasted like Walmart instead of fresh ginger), and the Miso Soup as on par with canned Chicken broth out of a can. Restaurant is in a great location...but was in need or repair, updating, and the back area near the lake was overgrown with vegetation and the grounds were not properly maintained nor eye appealing. Finally, the rice was served first...well ahead of the main course with the vegetables (cooked in burnt meat sauce - chef was too lazy to clean the grill) being served last after all the foods were eaten. What''s wrong with this picture? Cook the vegetables so they can be served with the rice! Plus, the vegetables were raw on the inside. Really! Raw on the inside and burn meal sauce on the outside. Nasty! We're never coming back.
Everything was good except the beef and chicken which was very tough. Poor quality meat. Based on price the meat should have been top quality. The appetizers were great. Service was great.
We were seated as a party of 16 in the enclosed area towards the back. We were split into 2 hibachis and had 2 cooks who cooked at the same time. Friendly service. One of our waitresses spilled hot soup on one group member but overall the experience was nice. Tons of food. Consider sharing.
Food was good, pricing was reasonable, chef was very entertaining. Great value for the price.
We got to take advantage of happy hour by arriving before 6–that is always nice. We had hibachi and were joined my two other friendly couples. The chef was friendly and very interactive. Fun night out with good food and service.
I have been here several times. It has always been great. The food and the entertainment was always such fun for a celebration. We took a group for a retirement celebration and was looking forward to some entertainment. We did not get the normal cook show that we had normally experienced. He was doing everything very fast. He only did one special cook trick for us. Our noodles were cold. One of our group had already had a bite of them. He took the plate and put the noodles back in the pile on the griddle... After part of the serving had been eaten. That is a horrible contamination of food! The cook did not know we we're together as a group. We did complain and got a discount and ice cream. But never got the entertainment we came for. We had a reservation so the cook should have known we were together as a group.
This used to be very consistent in food and services. Last night was extremely disappointing. Had reservations for 8pm. We arrived early about 15 minutes. All our guests were present. We were seated 15min after 8pm. Then we sat at the table for 1 hour before we even had food
For Mother’s Day- it took WAY to long to get a chef. We were there two hours. We had a reservation at 1:30 it took us 25 minutes to get sat. They were busy but not packed. Don’t understaff on a holiday.
The chef was super friendly, if it wasn’t for him the whole experience would’ve been terrible.
Keeping a 15 month entertained for THAT long was extremely difficult and made my Mother’s Day lunch exhausting instead of enjoyable.
We've been to this restaurant around 6 times. Getting seated has been a challenge most times, as there seems to always be some lack of communication in whom was in order to be seated first, but once that's sorted the table service is usually great.
This time table service was exceptionally bad. we sat for close to a half hour before drink orders were taken. it was an hour before a cook made it to our table. The food was good from that point, and the cook did a good job, but the rest of the service remained horrible for the rest of the evening.
Great food and service!!
Came here to celebrate my mom's birthday. It was fantastic! Delicious and really fresh food, quick and friendly service. And everything is reasonably priced. Would come again!
My buddies and I went to Kyoto for reunion as we’re all in town. We watched the teppan chef do his magic tricks and serve us food and boy was he on his a-game. The fire tricks are pretty crafty and I can tell he practiced his craft. We were fortunate to dine on a fine meal and be entertained simultaneously with his fire tricks that was right infront of our eyes! The onion volcano was great and twirling of the tools he had was pretty intense.
We got to enjoy some great deals on the drinks so you can say we had a great time. The ambience was very nice as all the staffs were very courteous. We loved our experience!
I like to take my family on special occasion to the Hibachi Grill and have a fun dining experience for birthdays or anniversaries. So Kyoto Hibachi Grill in Rowlett is perfect for our family. The hibachi chefs are pretty funny and skillful at the same time.
We enjoy their more high quality but pricier meat dish such as filet mignon or lobster tail, but also enjoy their filling dishes like fried rice. You got to ask for the flaming volcanoes with the onion, my kids love it. They still have a wide selection of fresh sushi we supplement with our meal. The sushi chef, hibachi chef, servers and hostess’s are very friendly!
Kyoto Restaurant is one of our favorite Japanese spots we frequently visit. The fact that you can get sushi or hibachi and go a complete different route of dining experience under one roof keeps things interesting for us. You also get a solid view of the lake and the staff is very accommodating. I recommend visiting this for yourself if you crave some Japanese food! Try the sushi or hibachi depending on your mood.
walked in into a labor dispute between the manager and his staff. It took 3 hours for our party to be served. 1/2 the group was served then an hour later the other half was served. The manager did nothing to rectify the situation I will never go back here again.
Always fun- the cook at your table chefs are great- entertaining and the food is delicious.
As a local Japanese restaurant, Kyoto has pretty much all you need. Bento box, sushi, sashimi, hibachi grill, HAPPY HOUR drinks including sake and Sapporo, and crazy chef with tricks up their sleeves. I come here on weekdays to diversify my work lunch outings, and sometimes check in on weekends even on Sundays if I want to have a couple drinks that are cheap due to happy hour.
I would definitely checkout their different daily specials as it differs on weekdays and weekends. Also they have a sweet view of the lake and an area you can sit outside to enjoy it.
My family go to Kyoto every once in awhile for dinner and we love it! Their happy hours are fun to come as well, with all types of different specials, its never a same experience!
The hibachi chef’s volcano fire trick is our favorite and my kids love it. It almost feels like our eye bros get sizzled haha. My husband and I enjoy their sake or wine with our hibachi dinner and love their sushi rolls. Our kid loves the fried rice the chef puts together.
It’s a pretty big restaurant, and sometimes its not full, which we like. But at times it gets packed, so we learn to pick the perfect time to go. The employees remember us and joke with our kids haha.
We decided to go to Kyoto for a hibachi dinner with friends out of town. The hibachi’s quality of meat was much more than I expected, the chef also gave our group a comical yet skillful show. We also got to enjoy some fresh sashimi with some sake and Sapporo, and do not regret it haha.
I would definitely go back on our own and try the outside seating with a view for a nice weekend dinner with the fam.
My coworker and I sometimes go here during the weekdays for their lunch special. They got variety of lunch special combos, I switch on and off between sushi combo and bento combo.
They had a pretty solid lake view and an attentive group of employees who are polite. I plan on coming here for their dinner hibachi and watch the chefs go at it. I def recommend this place to soothe ur Japanese cuisine needs.
Server did a great job and was quick. However the hibachi show was almost non existence as the cook did no tricks, showman ship or anything outside of just cook on the table. The food was overall bland and not worth the cost we paid. We wouldn’t go again
Amazing sushi and hibachi here. Mr Lian on the hibachi is one of the most fun and excellent cooks around. The sushi here is quality and the table service is top notch. If you love sushi or hibachi you can't go wrong with Kyoto.
My buddies and I went to Kyoto on Sunday and turns out it was happy hour all day long. We stayed for a while taking advantage of the discounted drinks and meals and it was glorious.
The host and waitresses took good care of my crew as we kept ordering more drink and delectable appetizers to enjoy our day off. Overall I had an amazing experience in this huge Japanese restaurant. I would definitely come back
It was great - our chef was personable, fulfilled special requests and entertaining....
Large portions and friendly staff all around make this hibachi grill a great place to dine, especially for special occasions. Be warned that you will smell like hibachi after! While this restaurant does have a widely varied menu, I've yet to have a bad appetizer, roll, or entree here. There is separate sushi seating for those who want Japanese without the price or waiting times of hibachi but the hibachi grill is definitely the main feature here. The ambience is warm and immersive with Japanese decoration surrounding the dining area. Great to eat at if you're looking to splurge a bit.
I got dinner at Kyoto Restaurant with my buddies this past Monday. My server was Jametrious, and he let us know that Monday had an all day happy hour for drinks and appetizer. We were delighted! He also recommended us freshest catch for sushi and sashimi.
I ended up getting the Chrashi paired with wine and couple appetizers. It was pretty fresh and overall a good dining experience. Our server Jametrious was also exceptional!
I was very excited to eat at Kyoto for my birthday. The service at first was good when they took our order. Then the cook at the grill got the orders messed up & put the wrong food on the plate & then tried to move it to another plate. Portions were small for a dinner service. No one checked on us to see if we needed more refills.
It’s been awhile since I ate at Kyoto because of my bad experience two years ago. I revisited after hearing theres a new management.
I made a reservation in advance so I didn’t have to wait despite the long line.
Sushi was solid and the head chef was so nice to us! We definitely had a lovely dining experience due to the kind staff and management. The drink’s were cheap because the happy hour special so we got pretty loose with our meal.
Overall all a great time and I’m glad I decided to give them a try again!
First off, Kyoto’s hibachi chef were very entertaining and masterful at what they do. My family loved the quirky spinning tricks and the fire show!
Kyoto’s sushi and sashimi is fresh and pretty authentic to my surprise! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with smiles, service and food was great. I’ll be bringing my family here again.
My friend recommended me to get dinner at Kyoto Hibachi & Sushi Restaurant because of its great lake view & fresh sushi.
When we arrived for dinner, the hostess greeted us kindly to start off the evening. The servers were courteous and friendly.
We sat at a table with a lake view, which went well with our meal. The lobster roll & yellow tail belly was fresh and it melted in our mouths.
Our meal was memorable, wine and sushi go very well together believe it or not!
The patio with an outside seating is only open for summer, so we’ll have to come back next time.
