Kyoto Japanese Restaurant
Kyoto Japanese Restaurant was opened by Sam & Yoshiko Tada in 1984. Sam (a native of Kyoto Japan) brought his culinary skills & Yoshiko managed the accounting and service. Both Sam & Yoshiko still participate in the day to day operations of Kyoto.
Kyoto is our go-to restaurant for special occasions, and for whenever we feel like their bento box lunch.
Beat restaurant I discovered since moving to SLC in late 2017. Been a go-to place nearly every few months when I’m craving Japanese. I’ve never been disappointed with any of my times here. Food is always amazing. Staff is always amazing. Everything is always amazing. I will always return and will always recommend this place to others.
Best sushi in Utah, and the ambience is what you would want from a Japanese restaurant. The service is wonderful and I will certainly return again and again.
Had a fantastic time with my boyfriend on date night! Food was fantastic! Service was great too!
The food was great. Loved everything we had. The drinks were a bit pricier than other places.
Very authentic Japanese food in a cozy location.
Great service...wonderful food.....Love the kimonos!
The food was great! Highly recommend the Firecracker Sushi Roll
I asked for a booth but got a tabke instead. I jyst wush the front would mention b4 seating. We did get our booth eventually whole waited.
It was very good. Brought back great memories of the food. So nice to have a great Japanese restaurant in town.
The Teriyaki and Tempura are the best around. I live in TN and when I am in SLC, I always make time to visit Kyoto no matter what.
I always enjoy a trip to Kyoto. They have excellent food-- I'm allergic to fish so I've never had the sushi but I'm told it is very good. The other menu items I can attest are amazing. The desserts and non-alcoholic drinks are also quite good. It has a very authentic Japanese atmosphere with either tables or ground seating available. The service has also always been very good.
Great food for a great price! Great service, open table was perfect because the place was really busy even for a Monday night.
First time coming hear. Great customer service all around. Food was exceptional. All the sushi we ordered was amazing!!!!!!!
It was Friday night and very crowded. That may have caused the food to be a little cold by the time it came to the table.
The food was delicious and the sushi tasted fresh.
Always amazing! Our very favorite neighborhood restaurant. Jade is absolutely amazing. She always makes us feel at home.
Always a wonderful experience with amazing food!
Great service and delicious food. We were seated right when we arrived due to our reservations. Great waitress and bus girl. Thank you for a fantastic evening
First, you must recognize the excellent service. All staff are very attentive, friendly, efficient and hard working. The food was excellent. It was well prepared and obviously brought to us very quickly after it was plated. I recommend this restaurant to anyone searching for a good Japanese restaurant in Salt Lake.
They have the best Japanese food in town- I don't think anyone can argue with that. Their sushi menu is so fresh and so good. However, all the other items (udon, sukiyaki, etc) tends to be super salty so make sure to ask for hot water so you can mix it down.
Great food, atmosphere, at a reasonable price! The service was a bit slow, but very polite and cheerful.
My favorite neighborhood Japanese restaurant in Salt Lake City. Try the agadashi tofu as an appetizer.
Will not go again. I have been to Kyoto for over 10 years but I got very disappointed for the last three visits. The food quality is getting worse and is not in line with the price. It’s very sad to say but those half price sushi places have better sushi.
Great atmosphere, delicious food at reasonable prices. Our waitress Ping was wonderful. She took good care of us and of our birthday girl.
Very generous portions - my husband ordered Combination dinner - Tonkatsu + Ebi Tempura. And a Spider roll. It was a lot!
Food was very fresh.
They did not give the proper accompaniments. Tempura should have come with Oroshi Daikon (grated radish) and Tonkatsu with Karashi (yellow mustard). They gave us the former upon request, did not have the latter.
Would we go back? Yes!
My Saba Shioyaki (Mackerel) was damn good.
Very good but pricey
I lived in Japan for 2 years and this is the most authentic and delicious Japanese food I’ve found in Salt Lake City. Great ambiance and good location. Will definitely visit again! Convenient wheelchair accessible restroom too.
Our table was not ready when we arrived 5 mins early. Not a problem but the host decided to sit us at a table that was reserved 1 hour later and told us we had to wrap up by them. He was visibly stressed. Not what I would usually expect from Kyoto but normally we sit at the sushi bar
Best Japanese food in town!!! They never disappoint and we will continue to celebrate year and year there.
Fantastic food, extremely fresh sushi, yellowtail collar on the appetizer menu is very big and outstanding in it’s grilling. Unfortunately, dining alone, I was seated at the only 2 top table, right by the kitchen and the large party table (extremely noisy). I should have elected to sit at the sushi bar.
Best sushi in slc, awesome homemade soy sauce. Great flavors and cool ambiance
Great food and great service. Somewhat loud, but not too bad. I would definitely go back.
I loved their tempura vegetables.
Great food, pretty close to what you’d get in Japan
It was really great
Great food, good service on Valentines Day, as usual.
Salad was the best ever and the food is always fantastic. One of our very favorite dining experiences.
Matt was an excellent waiter and made the experience memorable.
We have Been going here for years love it. The food is done perfect it's as close as your gonna get to real traditional Japanese food.
