Kyoto Japanese Restaurant
Kyoto Japanese Restaurant was opened by Sam & Yoshiko Tada in 1984. Sam (a native of Kyoto Japan) brought his culinary skills & Yoshiko managed the accounting and service. Both Sam & Yoshiko still participate in the day to day operations of Kyoto.
Chicken and vegetables cooked in sukiyaki sauce
Awesome experience like always. Great service. My waiter was excellent in every way. Recommend to everyone
Our server Ping, was awesome. It being our first time there, she gave us lots of great suggestions on food and drink. The food was amazing. The miso soup was delicious, and The nigri melts in your mouth. The sake was divine. It was my wife's birthday, Ping made her feel so special. Bringing us some sherbert and singing her happy birthday. It's definitely not a cheap night out but between the exceptional service, the high quality food, atmosphere and portion sizes Kyoto is well worth the money!
Portion size huge and at a great price! Great place and friendly service
Service was friendly but just OK. Food was decent too but nothing to write home about. We tried to go once before and was put on an hour wait so this time we made a reservation and got in right away.
Wonderful service and outstanding portions. Thank you!
Great sushi! I come here often and enjoy the food, but have consistently dealt with rude, unhelpful, and poor treatment from the young girls who work the front counter. This poor service and rudeness also extends to the several phone calls I have made for reservations. It seems that this rudeness comes from immaturity and the possibility that these young girls are experiencing having a job for the first time. If your easy hostess job is too stressful for you to remain kind to other humans, you have a long and difficult life ahead of you…
Zola was a wonderful server. Food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Sashimi was fresh and yummy.
Always very good!
Love this place. Amazing food, service and the best sushi rollers in the area
Excellent service, great food.
Very enjoyable. Limited parking but I still got a parking space.
Consistently great food with a lovely Japanese ambiance. Wonderful selection of saki to compliment their sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. The tempura veggie selections are melt-in-your mouth lovely. Oh yeah, they are open Sundays.
Gyoza was not like it normally is, granddaughter didn't like it at all. That is all that she usually orders. Noticed prices went up since they were closed for a week or so.
The food is always delicious and is best when shared with the whole group.
I find it hard to believe there is a Japanese cook in the kit.
Delicious Japanese food, and our server is amazing! We celebrate our son’s birthday there every year, and we are never disappointed! Thank you, Kyoto!!!
Kyoto always has fresh sushi, the flavors of their rolls are amazing, and the decor and ambience are unique.
Sushi was just okay, I have had sushi from Harmon that was better. The place was dirty, not filthy but just not clean... Our glass were grimy, the table was sticky and the menus were just gross. I will not be going back.
Very good sushi and customer service -- we will be back!
Overrated. Parking is a nightmare. Service was poor. The gyoza was brought to us late so it was cold. Did not receive the correct sashimi order. Had a reservation and the table wasn’t ready on time while we watched 3 other parties walk in after us and get seated before us.
The food is wonderful, the staff were helpful. Good to have a reservation, since it's very popular.
Wonderful restaurant, the food was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Good food, comfortable seating, pleasant atmosphere, fantastic service!
reservation was easy to make, we were seated right away at our reservation time. server was very attentive and helpful. Vegetable tempura was amazing, and all of the sushi was delicious.
DELICIOUS!! Highly recommend
It does not get any better than Kyoto.
Put this in your “must try” list.
First time guest- try the Beef Udon”, it won’t disappoint
Nothing stays excellent forever. This is probably our last visit here. The food was mediocre. The Ebi Tempura was soggy and the service was almost non-existent. We will be seeking another place for special occasions.
Salt Lake City’s finest Japanese cuisine. This place never disappoints.
It is a “must try” and a “must return”.
What's not to like. This restaurant has been one of my favorites since I can remember. Great service and great Japanese food.
All of the Sushi rice was ice cold, restaurant was really cold also. Was uncomfortable for dining
Great service! Perfect sushi!’
Great food and ambience. We enjoyed our entrees—both the sushi and the sukiyaki were authentic and delicious. And the tatami-floored booths set the mood (and were great COVID barriers).
This is probably the best and most authentic Japanese cuisine in SLC. I've been going to Kyoto for decades and love this place. Highly recommend!
Great food and service. Dining room could use some updating.
Visiting from out of town, picked Kyoto based on online reviews and menu. Very pleased!
Very nice ambiance, friendly and attentive service, and delicious food with a wide menu.
Kyoto is a favorite restaurants. My problem when you are busy is the noise level. Don’t know what you can do about that!
The best Japanese cuisine in SLC.
This is a “must try” and a “must return”.
Kyoto never disappoints.
The foods taste fair, not impressive. It is an average-level Japanese restaurant.
great food and very attentive service. loved the sushi and the tempura we oreered. excellent!
So good that I cracked a tooth
