Kyoto Japanese Restaurant
Kyoto Japanese Restaurant was opened by Sam & Yoshiko Tada in 1984. Sam (a native of Kyoto Japan) brought his culinary skills & Yoshiko managed the accounting and service. Both Sam & Yoshiko still participate in the day to day operations of Kyoto.
My favorite sushi in SLC.
Very authentic, good quality, and so very reasonably priced.... we would return as would the local couple we were with. Arigato!
We come here often. The food and service can’t be beat!
Kyoto is always good. The food was good, fresh and tasty.
If I am to critique anything, it would be the rushing to get the order in. My date was a few minutes late and she hardly had her coat off when the server was asking what she wanted. Same thing two minutes later.
Great food and service.
Exceptional as usual. I would eat there everyday if my wife would let me
We've been dining at Kyoto for many, many years. It's a favorite place & they never disappoint.
Great food and atmosphere
Some of the best sushi I have ever had and I have had a lot of sushi
Always great. I’ve never been disappointed. I’m an original customer from when I think the chef who opened Kyoto had just left The Makado. Tada was his name if that’s not the correct spelling. It’s a great fine quality restaurant. My last visit was particularly good. Really great service and fresh hot food. Perfect tempura. My sister was here from Virginia and just loved our early dinner.
Thanks for being consistent in all areas of a good dining experience.
Always good. Service and recommendations fo food was excellent. I had the seafood tempura and it was more than enough food for two people. Tried warm sake for first time.
Had the ebi (shrimp) tempura and a teriyaki steak. The tempura is very light and it at all greasy. The steak was extremely, cut- with-a-fork-tender, and very flavorful. The teriyaki glaze, complimentary and not overpowering. Very attentive service. Got there right at 5 with a reservation. Gets busy quickly. I've been going there for about 40 years. Always outstanding.
Service and all is A+!!! Food and ambiance is so authentic. Tempura batter is so light and not greasy! Great place to take family, friends and loved ones..
Great time! Service was great!
Kyoto is a go to higher end sushi place for us in SLC. The service is always great, the fish is fresh and the ambiance we love. We enjoyed the flight and sashimi this time and added on some additional nigiri for the fatty tuna and suzuki. Highly recommended for years!
Very nice restaurant and excellent food! It was a little loud, but that’s only because the people in the booth next to us were extra loud talkers. The service was good, but we were overcharged an extra entree. The person paying the bill didn’t catch it...I called the next day and they fixed it and were so nice about it. We’ll definitely be back!
Great, traditional Japanese food. Highly recommend.
Food is good quality, but it's the basic, what do Americans want offering. Surprised to see it rated as high as Takashi. Nothing disappointing, just average. If I was local, I would go for convenience.
Nice ambiance and food was delicious. Large portions, could have shared the entree.
I took my wife there for our anniversary. The service, food, and atmosphere was simply perfect.
always great food and service
Felt a tad rushed by the waitress . Not crowded and I was w friends I hadn’t seen for awhile
The food was amazing the service was great the best sushi we ever had !
Kiyoto never disappoints. The quality of the food is consistently wonderful and the service is top notch. I have been visiting this restaurant since I was a young girl and have never been disappointed.
Excellent atmosphere and delicious food. The Teriyaki steak was the best I have had.
Excellent as usual. The only complaint heard at my table of 7 women were that the portions were too large (and only because a couple of them would have shared had they known).
Went to Kyoto July 23rd for a birthday celebration for my daughter. Food, service and value are always excellent. The problem we had was with how absolutely filthy the floor of the room was in the private room. The floor was greasy, dirty, old food just sitting there. Really disgusting. Had a napkin that looked "previously used". Not sure who's in charge of cleaning the room/vacuum up from the earlier guests to our reservation but it was as bad as I've seen, anywhere. It appeared that nothing was cleaned between reservations. We will eat there again but hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.
Food was pretty good. Make sure you specify if you want fried or steamed vegetables. Sushi just ok, but only tried 1 roll. Nothing that blew me away. Honestly, the wife and I were calling it a quiet tepenyaki. Will go again for sure, haven’t really scratched the surface on menu yet.
A+ in all!!! We love going to this restaurant every time we are in SLC, Utah.
Kyoto is always are easy go to. Food and Service is always great!
Wish things were not quite so fast! We were in and out in 45 minutes! Less a dining experience than fast food—albeit very good sushi.
Very good food, excellent service, have been going there for years and love it.
My favorite Japanese restaurant in SLC
Kyoto is a family favorite. It is consistently wonderful food and an excellent food value. The service is friendly and welcoming. Kyoto has been a neighborhood favorite for many years
Surprisingly good sushi. Menu items seem a bit expensive at first glance, but there serving sizes are large.
Had enjoyable birthday dinner
We would recommend Kyoto to anyone. They are very accommodating, and welcoming to all!! Peggi & Addy at the sushi bar are the BEST!! MAKE A RESERVATION!! This restaurant is sooo busy, you'll want to make sure you do!!
Dinner with my daughter. Son in law does not come due to an issue we have had in the past with cross contamination. He is allergic to shell fish. We told the waitress at the time. He still had a reaction. Now, my daughter and I have dinner here only when he is busy and cannot make dinner. Food is always great, service always good as well.
This restaurant never disappoints. Great variety of Japanese dishes to choose from, and they are all delicious.
By far my favorite Sushi place in Salt Lake! Service is great, too.
