Excellent food and great and pleasant waitress and staff.
Pleasant dining experience with quaint atmosphere. We would go back.
We thoroughly enjoyed this charming Lebanese restaurant and will be back often. The service was great. The portions could be more meaty but the flavors are outstanding.
Very impressed with Kurah, wide variety of Lebanese-nouveau cuisine, lots of GF options, cute place, easy to park, and good service. Would recommend.
1355 S Michigan Ave
Chicago, IL 60605
We sit on top over having a partial view of Michigan Avenue at 14th Street. This was a crow's net seating.
The appetizer was a mix of olives accompanied with and over dried slice of french bread.
The olives bruschetta with feta cheese on top......
If your are a lover of salty tastes, this appetizer is well suited.
Blacken Salomon Salad has a dressing that left your wanting to eat your salad dry. The honey type dressing has a taste of a strange oily flavor .
The falafel appetizer was a security item on the menu, and that was eaten.
Please make sure Josh the waiter is off when you come.
We heard the greetings, and welcome provided to other tables by other waiters in restaurant.
Yes. If you like the dry greetings please request JOSH, oh there was no greeting ......
We highly recommend you pass this place and head to Firehouse restaurant just across the street.
Ro provided - minus 💎💎💎💎💎
Took my mother for mother's day. She loved it. Our server was super nice. Food was excellent.
Great food, excellent service, ambiance/lighting doesn’t match the quality of the food/service
The overall food was decent. Nothing to shout about. I went there for my wife’s birthday. I told several people (including our servers) that it was my wife’s surprise birthday dinner and to bring out a skillet with a candle, but they just brought it out without a candle or anything. Did not surprise my wife and ruined that moment.
Delicious and a table for two by the window was the perfect location for my daughter and me to celebrate Mother's Day in a smaller, less noisy restaurant.
The appetizers were amazing
I did not care for the beef shawarma it was like steak cut into thin pieces to me shawarma in the Middle East is like the Greek gyro
The desert was very good Baklava with ice cream was very good
We were very happy to find a restaurant which had so many options for meat eaters and a vegan in our group. Tasty food, friendly service, good value. Will be back.
Always incredibly delicious! We try new items every time and have not been disappointed.
As always this place is amazing. We went for a book club outing and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly.
Bon rapport qualité-prix. La serveuse était super sympathique et les plats que j’avais choisis étaient parfaits!
Dismal food, slow service. I ordered a chicken shwarma, and what I received were tiny cubes of chicken on a bed of rice accompanied by roasted vegetables that looked like they'd been served to several customers before me. Shwarma is one of my favorite dishes: I've had dozens of versions, and I have NEVER seen or tasted anything like their "shwarma," which resembled little blocks of badly cooked meat product. It was a pretty small plate of food for the price (and for what usually shows up in Lebanese places), which turned out to be a blessing once I tasted it.
The server was earnest, but so inconsistent throughout our meal. She showed up on time, took our drink order, then disappeared. When the drinks did arrive, we were told they were "out of lemons." At a Middle Eastern restaurant with a bar! Say what? The waitress had recommended a glass of their most expensive wine and when it arrived, it looked like it had been measured out using an eye-dropper. We complained about the pour and were told it was their standard.
Eventually the food arrived... unfortunately. And our bill came to $40 per person (one drink and one entree per person), which was really expensive given the quality and quantity of food, the miserly glass of wine, the poor service, and NO LEMONS.
Bye, Felicia. Too many good Middle Eastern restaurants in Chicago for this nonsense.
Everyone should try their lentil soup--it's better than anyone else's! Everything is so fresh and flavorful. This a restaurant whose food makes you feel good. We got the Kurah appetizer plate, lentil soup, chicken sharwarma, and stuffed eggplant--all amazing and highly recommended! Our waiter Terry was one of the nicest waiters we've met anywhere. We are not locals but are traveling in Chicago, but we would go back any time to eat there.
The appetizers were decent especially calamari. The main course was terrible - chicken kabab were inedible. Basmati rice had horrible after taste. The service was non existent. We were sitting on the upper floor and had to constantly get up to call them.
Kurah is one of my favorite go to restaurants! The food is great; it is well managed; and it's a relaxing place to eat and get caught up with your dining partners. I have never had a bad meal there. Keep up the good work!
I love the red lentil soup, spicy hummus, and the spaghetti squash!!
If you are from Kurah, you will know that this is not Lebanese. You should never need to be given a steak knife for lamb shanks.
Resturant was practically empty; a total of four tables were occupied. Oddly enough our server disappeared for a good 15min, granted she recognized this and was apologetic.
The food simply was not good. My steak kabobs were overcooked and the aioli(s) & sauces were flat out gross. No flavor. No taste.
All in all the price points and portion sizes are fair. The dishes we had were unappetizing.
Excellent food with a wide variety of choices. The best baba ganoush I've ever had! The pita bread was fresh and warm. The restaurant was cozy with good service.
In Chicago for a long weekend and looking for something different in the South Loop area. Very much enjoyed the evening, staff was very friendly and resourceful in their recommendations. Would return during another Chicago trip.
Get the bacon-wrapped dates. They’ll change your life.
All four in our party received food that was over cooked. Falafel hard as a brick on outside dry on inside. Beef was tough. Even bacon wrapped dates were over cooked.
This is my 3rd time here and ill definitely be back. The food is good and a good price. We went for brunch and they offer great deals.
Great food, great service. Decor is fitting for the Mediterranean style of restaurant.
Loved it, great food and service. Very accommodating in allowing me to wait for my friend at my table.
Fantastic food, went for Chicago RW
Very nice place, I would recommend this place, but I would say that they need to have more staff available to handle the customer. We had reservation at 5pm but there was a crowd that came in. Nice food, great location, but under staff.
We really enjoyed our visit to Kurah. While it is a fairly small place but the tables weren't positioned tightly together. The food was extremely flavorful and fresh. My wife and I shared a sampler platter as well as a couple of small plates. All of the dishes were very tasty and well presented. They also offered some interesting cocktails to choose from. We will definitely return.
We loved Kurah! The food was absolutely phenomenal and authentic. The atmosphere was great without being overly trendy. Our server was fantastic - knowledgeable and friendly! Definitely check this out!
We were looking for something different and Kurah's offered that to us. The Red Lentil soup was really good, though I was surprised it wasn't red. The service was good, could have been more attentive but there was only one waitress and it did get busy. Overall, Kurah was a good place for something different, a tasty alternative to the standard fare.
The evening started out with a mistaken understanding about my reservation. It had all of the makings of a bad experience. I went expecting a table but ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender recognized my discontent ,relayed it quickly to the owner who apologized and explained to me where the misunderstanding occurred. Then I proceeded to meet and talk with people at the bar and had one of the nicest evenings I’ve had in a long time. Not only was the fellowship good but I think it was the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food I’ve ever had. The mushroom spinach soup appetizer was delicious and the vegan platter with Kibbe hummus and falafel couldn’t have been better. There is a reason that this restaurant is busy. I will no doubt be back
My wife and I had a pleasant dinner here. The service was good, friendly, and fast. The atmosphere and décor were different and fun. The food was mediocre. I had the paella which had lots of mussels but lacked flavor and certainly wasn't prepared in a traditional way. The shawarma that my wife had also lacked flavor. I've made both dishes at home with better results. The desserts were fine.
We ordered the Paella which seemed to have mostly frozen fish and vegetables and was not seasoned well at all. The Lamb chops had a very sweet sauce and came to the table almost raw. We took them home rinsed off the sauce seasoned them and re cooked them. Very disappointed, needless to say we will not be returning.
This was a great experience and a great location for NYE brunch! It was nice to have their private area for our group. The food is delicious and I look forward to going back
All of our food was great. The bruschetta was amazing. Next time we go, we'll order a bunch of appetizers as our meal. The restaurant was a little too warm for my liking but others were comfortable.
The food is always great here. We ate upstairs and it was uncomfortably hot. Would have ordered dessert but couldn't stand the temperature any longer. My advice - if they ask if you'd like to sit upstairs, decline and wait for a table on the main floor.
