Kunkel's Seafood & Steakhouse
The feel of family is evident throughout Kunkel's, from the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by Carol, all the way to the kitchen where son Justin is preparing some of our great meals. You feel at home in our cozy dining room featuring two fireplaces and mahogany and painted woodwork throughout, which was designed and built by John. We are also BYOB :)

Always a great time at Kunkel’s!!! Servers are always friendly and on point even if they are short staffed( like EVERY business right now) We go to enjoy our food and not be rushed for dinner. It says it on the menu that they assume you are there to enjoy and not be rushed. I like to try different entrees each time we go, this time I had Lobster Ravioli and an orange and vanilla cheesecake freeze for dessert… it tasted like a orange creamsicle!
It was my first visit to Kunkel’s and I was very impressed. We were pleasantly greeted when we walked in the door and shown to our table immediately. The menu had a wide range of offerings and there were 4 specials being offered as well. The food was excellent. Definitely will go back.
Nice staff, very nice dining room, food was bad 👎. Will not return.
Terrible. First and last time here. When we first arrived we were told that a server called out sick and they were running short. Understandable, especially with the past two years with COVID. But after seeing several servers and hostesses running around the dining room, it didn't really seem like the case, and especially after reading some other reviews, over the past several months, this just sounds like an excuse used over and over.
Our orders were taken right away, and then we sat and waited for our appetizer. And waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour passed without any food and without even seeing our waitress. I thought we would've been offered some bread while waiting but our waitress gave that to us after we already got our appetizer and salads (which we waited well over an hour to get). After we finished the appetizer, salads and bread, we still had to wait an additional half hour just for our steaks.
You should take steakhouse out of your name because I've had better steaks from diners and Applebee's. For $48, my ribeye shouldn't be less than half an inch thick, unseasoned, and over cooked, meanwhile my fiancées steak was over cooked on one side (the steak was curled up) and under cooked on the other.
Once we were finished with our meals, we had some leftovers to take home. We were asked twice if we wanted a box and then finally they came back over and realized they still forgot to give us a box. We got that wrapped up and then waited for our check. That came after waiting another 20 minutes.
I've never walked out of a restaurant and feel as cheated out of my time and money as I have tonight. Disgraceful.
Great ambiance and service. Bread extraordinary. Cheesecake amazing!
Service was exceptional, steaks were well prepared and tasted great. Definitely give this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed
Our first time trying out the brunch menu at Kunkel’s… it was outstanding!!! Had the stuffed French Toast - love love loved the cereal crunch coating… perfectly cooked! Thank you for a nice meal
A very cozy atmosphere. Always great food and service
Kunkels is a cozy and comfortable restaurant. The food was delicious and the wait staff was attentive and very friendly
We enjoyed our appetizers and entrees, we loved the live jazz band. The service was excellent (although there was one error with our entree which they quickly resolved) we will definitely go back and recommend.
This restaurant is a hidden treasure! My husband and I both had the Filet Mignon; my husband added the lobster tail to make surf and turf. The Filets were so tender that they could be cut with a fork. Each was cooked to perfection, exactly the temperature that we ordered. The portions were perfect; not too big and not too small. The service was perfect, as well. Our server seemed to know each time we needed something without hovering over us. It was a busy night so we were obviously not her only table, yet she never seemed rushed or agitated. She was very pleasant, cheerful, and patient. It was New Year's Eve and our Anniversary, as well. We couldn't have spent it anyplace better!
New Years Eve
A place we can call our own! Always accommodating. Great BYOB site, that has an amazing selection of quality recipes. The desserts are awesome as well.
This place is AMAZING!!!! We went there on Christmas Eve 2021. We ordered steam clams for appetizer…. The sauce was incredible. Family member got French Onion Soup and remarked how good it was with homemade croutons. Everyone had salads (freshly made) with different homemade French Catalina and Balsamic Vinegar dressings that was awesome. The dinners were DELICIOUS!!!!! Each steak was tender and juicy. The lobster ravioli had real lobster with freshly made pasta. Topped off with fresh cup of coffee at the end! Our waitress Alyssa could not do enough for us. The owner personally walked around checking on your experience. We will definitely go back. Here’s the big one…. This place has top notch food, warm atmosphere, and priced right!!!! Please go, you will happy you did.
Always a good meal and the service is the best. i suggest the steak and don't forget burger day.
For was very good and the service was excellent! Looking forward to going back again soon.
Went to Kunkel’s last night for the first time. We’re always happy to support a local family business. They were short staffed, but that’s every restaurant right now. Despite that, our waitress Alyssa was great and it was nice to see other customers get that and act appropriately. The food was good and not crazy $$$… we’ll definitely come back!
Really good food. Maybe because we came a little early 630pm and maybe bc the carpet in the dining area absorbed all the sound but it was eerily quiet in the restaurant with a lot of open tables.
That combination of factors is a little off-putting but we are glad we stuck around bc the food really was top notch. I had the red snapper and wife had the seafood and pasta. Zero complaints on food or service.
Nobody wants a dining area that’s too noisy but a library type atmosphere is too far in the other direction and makes it hard to recommend this place to friends/family.
Hope they can do something to add a slightly more lively ambiance to the restaurant so that these great dishes can shine
I’m sorry that I have to give this restaurant such a low review. But my experience was not great. The steak was $59 and it taste and it look like it was from an old Ponderosa store. I am highly offended whenever I need to use steak sauce for steak and unfortunately I had to dowels my steak with steak sauce because the steak was so tough dry and definitely not worth $58
Kunkel's never disappoints. We had the steak caprese, creamy potato soup and spinach salad with chicken. For dessert, the frozen chocolate cheesecake, cinnamon bun bread pudding and cappuccino. All wonderful. The staff is friendly and the food is great.
Great service, great food, worthy for a special occasion or just a meal out.
This is a pleasant venue and tables were appropriately spaced. My pork loin and my wife's salmon were both very good and so large we needed a container to take 1/2 home. Side salads were very good as well. Servers were cordial, however, they seemed a little understaffed, so the service was a little hit or miss. Not a deal breaker, but a little short of the mark. Will definitely return.
Waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of them menu. Food was fantastic. Mussels and filet were cooked perfectly and the house mashed potatoes were amazing.
The food was good and we definitely will be going back
My husband and I decided to celebrate a work promotion, and we had no kids for the evening. I want to support local businesses and I rely on Open Table’s reviews and all I have to say is what the heck did everyone else eat?
I even went back after we dined to try to figure out if I made a mistake at the restaurant. No, pictures matched up. I actually find it hard to believe that with so many positive reviews there aren’t more pictures of the food. I think there’s a reason for that. Someone is scamming the system.
The pros -
Restaurant is beautiful.
Waitstaff is very attentive.
The cons -
We started with New Orleans style oysters. We were really looking forward to them. They tasted off! We orders the special of the scallops for the night and they were fishy. Scallops are not supposed to be fishy.
Moving on to a Caesar salad for my husband and the wedge for me. My wedge was doused in what looked like thousand island dressing. It has blue cheese crumbles, no tomatoes, but bacon bits on it. The dressing has a weird tangy taste to it. My husband’s Caesar the same. About this time, we are starting to get visions of Kitchen Nightmares picturing the old dressing growing mold in the back of the wall-in. So no more salad.
Ordered the filet and the rib-eye with the potato leek casserole, supposed to be a house specialty with the bourbon bearnaise sauce. Temperature looks good but my filet has a weird texture. It’s mushy in the middle, maybe freezer burn? Not sure but it’s edible so I ate it. The potato leek casserole was a mess. I had a huge wad of melted cheese on it that was like glue and so much oil/butter it was inedible.
My husband took his steak home because at that point we completely lost our appetites.
The bread was good. We had two baskets of bread.
Was this an off night? Maybe but horrible.
Good thing is we didn’t get sick but won’t dine here again.
Lovely staff. I can’t say that enough. Terrible food!
We are a family owned restaurant. I am sorry you didn’t bring your concerns to the server, or the owner Carol who always has a conversation with all of our customers. Our menu clearly describes how all of our food is made. You ordered: Hot Maple & BBQ Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Johnny wedge, Caesar salad, Rib-Eye and Filet Au Poivre/green pepper corn encrusted pan seared topped in a brandy cream sauce Not your description The weird mushy texture is called Med/Rare Thank you for your feedback
If you like burgers dine at Kunkels on Thursday for their burger night. The burgers are phenomenal.
We had a nice dinner and the service was great.
Food was fresh and great quality. Could use a little bit more seasoning but overall very good. The bread was amazing.
The food is so good, the lunch $$ so reasonable, the service is great too
Always good consistently. Completely satisfied with every aspect.
Great service delicious food
Always a great meal, every single time. Surf and turf menu, but the burgers and cheesecakes are the best!
The food was great. The service was spectacular. The owner is very caring and ensures that her customers are happy!
Delicious food! We celebrated with steak, seafood and appetizers. The BYOB allowed us to toast our Son on his birthday.
Good neighborhood local restaurant. Food and service always excellent
My father has a limited menu, but he did like the steak. My wife thought the soup needed something. The salmon was excellent. The bread pudding was also excellent, but too large.
Server was very attentive and the food was delicious. The desserts were also amazing!!!
We tried the restaurant for our anniversary dinner and it met all of our expectations and beyond. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very nice. Plus it’s a BYOB!
Our meal was prepared perfectly and was delicious! Waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The service was great!!
Met at Kunkels with friends. My dinner was good. Great menu choices! We have picky eaters and the staff was very helpful in meeting dietary restrictions.
