Kunkel's Seafood & Steakhouse
We try things. You don't know what you'll find. Kunkel's was a find! Walking in the place is warm, people plus two fireplaces! Seated quickly, staff was attentive but we did not feel rushed. Our server answered questions and gave great suggestions. I'll try and take you course by course. Shrimp Cocktail...they were chilled but still warm inside because they were just cooked. Extra Large and very tasty, my Potato Leek and Chorizo Soup - BAM! You could taste everything in the bowl, flavor from the sausage compliments not distracts. Garden Salad with HOMEMADE balsamic (very tasty, not just vinegar and Oil), I opted for the Wedge with the special, again homemade, dressing. Lettuces and plates were both cold, but not the same temp, the salad was prep fresh and not pulled out of the walk in from earlier in the day. We're getting the vibe, this isn't fast fancy food it's made to order amazing food with great flavors. We're looking at each other in the "Did we just find a good place" manner. Main's to come...crossing fingers!!!
Mains arrive, Red Snapper with a wonderfully light white sauce. FISH COOKED PERFECTLY! The menus states all-butter, but it's not JUST butter. The chef understands the way to add an ingredient without crowding all the others off the plate. Delicate balance...wow. I had a Pancko and Dijon Pork Tenderloin special with a Apple and crazin white sauce, I know what your thinking - what the heck were you thinking ordering all that on one plate from somewhere you've never been before. The dish was amazing, first bite the pork was tenderized well cooked perfectly and had a wonderful crispy crust that covered and not smothered the meat. Sauce again was flavorful but not overpowering.
Not much left but dessert. NY Style Cheesecake, made in house along with all the other desserts except for the ice cream. But my favorite of all ends the review with three words, for those who love the dish well made.
This was our first time dining here and it will definitely not be our last. The food was outstanding and the service was as well. Our waitress "Denise the niece" is actually a family member of this establishment and was very friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience feel like we were dining with family.
The service was warm and friendly and the food was presented well and very flavorful.
Reasonably priced but seem to be lacking something , maybe kitchen or serving staff ? A larger party was present . Slow to get courses out . NY strip steak was tough. Excellent bread . Sun dried tomato soup was very good . Side salads need better presentation - they look very flat/skimpy on a plate .
It’s my 3rd time there and still amazing ....thanks for a great meal
The food was exceptional and the service outstanding. From Carol greeting us at the door to the wonderful and attentive service from Denese the entire evening was very enjoyable.
I will return. Love the family owned and family run restaurant. The food very well prepared and served!
My only complaint is the seating, I'm not a fan of the 2 seaters being all in a row and close to each other. I felt like the couples next to us could hear our conversation and vice versa. My suggestion change the seating arrangements. But that's just me : ) For a great steak and great service make your reservation!
Fantastic food and wonderful service!
Good food good ambiance local favorite
My husband and I dined here last night for our anniversary. The place is so warm and inviting with nice music playing, not the elevator stuff. We had thai calamari and mussels apps, I had the salmon and my husband got a rib eye and lobster tail(surf and turf). We also got dessert ( which is all home made) cheesecake and Carol's poundcake. Everything was amazing and cooked perfectly. The owner came to our table and was very friendly along with our server. We highly recommend Kunkel's and we will be back with friends.
Six of us tried here. Our food was not cooked properly nor seasoned.
I had the Ahi tuna app. It was not seared on the outside and cooked medium, not rare. My NY strip was supposed to be medium rare, it was cooked medium well. My partner's Rib eye was supposed to be well done, it was cooked medium. We had to wait for one dinner. It came out 5 minutes after everyone else was served. It was salmon and it was cooked a inedible rare. By this time, my companion did not feel like waiting for a properly cooked entrée. She just decided to have the salmon removed from the bill.
Just about everything that was served needed some kind of seasoning.
It was not an enjoyable evening.
They were very accommodating and were able to provide an excellent birthday dinner for my girlfriend. The food was delicious and everyone was very pleasant.
Great Brunch. There Sunday brunch is new. The selection is outstanding. Normal breakfast foods prepared in new and unusual ways. The only thing missing was the mimosa.
We had a really nice meal. The service was great and so was the ambience. We will go back again.
Excellent Restaurant Week choices. Never a bad meal here!
We had dinner during Fall Harvest week therefore the menu was limited. Great value for our meal. Server was attentive and quick.
I went with a friend who owned an Italian restaurant for 27 years, she’s a very tough critic. She (& I) loved the food! I will def be telling people about our delicious meal on Sat night!
Been here a couple of times and everyone food was fabulous. Would highly recommend going here
We had to wait 24 minutes just to get a glass of water; however the food was outstanding.
Kunkels seafood and Steakhouse is one of our goto restaurants. The service is consistently good, the menu covers all of the bases and there are always specials.
Red snapper was a new addition, the fish was cooked and presently well. The grilled salmon was equally good but perhaps could have used a little more sauce on the side.
Desserts are always good.
Carol is a wonderful host. Dining is always a very nice experience, no rush, relaxing atmosphere
This was my first visit and I pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was relatively empty when I arrived. My waitress was absolutely fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and her service was spot-on. The menu was short but my meal was wonderful. Kunkel’s is a restaurant well worth a visit.
The service was excellent but the price for my child's meal was way too expensive. the food was good but the prices was a little expensive. Also open table said the meals was under 30 but that wasn't really the case.
Food and service is always good !
Love that they are introducing Brunch on Sundays
Great food service and atmosphere!!!
The service was great and so was the food. I would go back and try something different. The pound cake was wonderful.
The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. We always have a great experience here.
Went for Thursday Burger night. Great selection of burgers, didn’t get it cooked the way I like it but it was tasty nonetheless. It is a BYOB and we’ve eaten there before but never for Burger Thursday. Very nice and friendly owner and staff!
I have reviewed Kunkel's before but I would like to comment on burger night ( Thursday). I usually select a burger, of which there are sooooo many choices it is difficult to decide. They are home ground beef and are extraordinary but our wonderful waitress, Maureen, suggested the cheesesteak. Well, let me tell you being a Philadelphia native I have had cheesesteaks since I was a kid and I Just have to say that don't bother going to Gino's or Pats because this was the best one I have ever had. The meat is real thinly carved steak as tender as can be. The roll was toasted to perfection. The fries are always good but I didn't have room for them because the steak sandwich is huge. You really should try this wonderful place but make sure they leave a table for me!
Whenever we have something to celebrate - birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and we want to have a wonderful meal, we choose Kunkel's. The food is incredible, fresh, delicious and the quality is exceptional. We always have the best servers who make our experience a delight. The restaurant is cozy and warm, and noise level is low. You can bring a bottle of wine, enjoy an amazing meal from appetizers to dessert. It has become one of our favorite places to dine.
That was our first time at Kunkel’s and it was great! Our server was very attentive and professional. We are looking forward to going back again. Oh and the cheesecake was amazing!!! Thank you
Excellent as always. Maureen an excellent waitress. Food outstanding.
The staff here is Amazing! BIG compliments to the chef because my steak was cooked perfectly and the lumpy mashed potatoes were to die for.❤️ I also want to THANK the chef for my piece of homemade cheesecake that was smooth and delicious, but also, because I had a bad day at work, he gifted me the 🍰 ❤️! I will most definitely be back and can't wait to tell others about my outstanding experience 😊
We eat here more often than I cook! Every time I get their emails I just put the groceries in the fridge and go there for dinner. The Wednesday night Italian night is my favorite because they have grilled oysters. I have actually thought of ordering 4 orders and making that dinner but the seafood and pasta is so good I order both. Carol's pound cake is the icing on the cake--a must have for dessert. WONDERFUL! 👌
My Husband and I had dinner here for the first time last night. The food was amazing!!! Thai calamari app was so good, sun dried tomato soup was delicious. I had the chicken marsala and he had the Filet and lobster tail. Everything was cooked perfect. For dessert I had cheesecake and he had Carol's pound cake which was all made in house. Our server was attentive and friendly and the owner Carol came around and checked on us also. It's also a byob which is great. We will definitely be back with friends soon!!
The service was amazing. I brought my fiance here for his birthday and didn't realize it was a BYOB. The owner, Carol, was kind enough to bring us a couple of beers. The food was good and our server Maureen was very nice!
The service was good. The steamers are very good. The sun dried tomato soup was bad. Most likely from a can. The main dish was chicken Marsala it was terrible absolutely awful. And the prices are ridiculous. 2 dinners with the tip 93.00 I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Always very good food and great service! We have been there many times and have never been disappointed.
We were happy to find Kunkle's! Everyone in our party enjoyed their entree. The staff was friendly and attentive. Nice interior. Would probably be great for a party or shower. We'll be back!
It was “restaurant week” and Kunkel’s featured a rather limited fixed-price menu. The food was good, but we were hoping for more variety. The bread pudding was dry (I got the end piece - not the middle), the Parmesan crusted flounder selection was barely crusted but good, the lettuce wraps were small but good, and the Jersey Tomato and mozzarella was good. No bread or rolls were served. I’d like to try it again, but with a full menu selection.
Excellent in all areas. Took advantage of "Farm to Fork" week offerings. My new favorite "eatery".
