Not worth for money you pay. Over priced for the number of varieties that are served at buffet. It kind of Ok, but not worth waiting and all the hassle to reach on time.
The service need to improved - sequence of the food item delivery -
Food is good for its price. But we couldn't try many dishes for the price and we cannot finish them too. Half plate in side entrees would be a better choice to try many dishes with same price of few dishes. It's just one or two dish that makes someone to come back. So it's important to taste the right dish.
Food good, service needs improvement.None bothered to ask if everything was ok or if anything needed, had to look around and wait for someone to help.Longer wait for to go boxes, that day it wasn't crowded either.Rest always nice.
The starters were amazing... The dosas .. Loved it.. And overall what stole the show for me was the chutney n sambar.. Loved it.. :)
The food tastes really good and tge service is fine. The only negative thing is it the buffet service is not worth for begetarians. They must include some more attractive food options for vegetarians.
First time ever having Indian food and I'm so glad I chose Kumar's! Staff was super helpful in choosing food with their recommendations based on your wants and tastes. Tasted excellent to me, will definitely be returning.
Food are fresh and sufficient. Confirm before you order for add on items. Book the table at 2 days ahead.
Loved the food! Very flavorful!
The food served in Kumar's restaurant brings the authentic taste from Tamilnadu. I strongly recommend this place for those want to have a very good south indian food.
Lunch is amazing. Every dish was tasty. Serving was quick.
Kumar's mess is a place for people with love for food. Its not just the dishes they offer, but focus towards delivering to its customers. A simple thought of offering dishes to the table rather than buffet style, highlights the real gratitude offered to its consumers.
Good food. fits if your a foodie and non veg. We loved the South Indian varieties which recalls the college time foods that we used to have outside with friends . mutta Veechu, Kothu porotta ,kumars salna is all a must try items.
This was my first time I experienced such a poor service at Kumar's. Not sure if it was because the waiters were new and under training.
We were served rice and had to wait atleast 5-6 mins before curry was served. And this happened thrice on the same lunch!!! On the third occasion, we were served rice and the waiter went back to get curries. But after 3-4 mins, he came back with the plate of appalams; and then he had to go back again to get the curries. This time, my patience was tested and I had to shout at him. I do understand that Sunday afternoons are terribly busy at Kumar's, but this kind of service was totally unacceptable!
I would suggest that Kumar's have the adequate no. of staff and the experienced ones, atleast on the days which are extremely busy so as to cater for the demand and pressure.
To food is good, authenticate. For now, best tasting south Indian food in town, hope they maintain it.
Was a great experience. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a friends birthday, so we had a cake to cut and they set it up and brought it to the table with candles, plates and napkins. The food was excellent too, enjoyed the various curies. I wish there was more vegetable sides.
The food at Kumar's was excellent. It was like I was eating at a non-veg restaurant in Chennai. It was quite crowded as we had expected. Yet the service was quite good. Enjoyed it quite a bit.
The Manager was standing and talking loudly to his friend who was a guest in the next table to us. He was preferential to his friend by getting his food first even though we ordered long before him. I am totally disappointed. The only saving grace is the food quality which was good.
excellent food. felt like eating in Inida. wonderful service.
i went for full means, which was seved in a traditional banana leaf and it was authentic tamil naidu food...loved it
Best South Indian food in USA ..value for money .. Must visit place for a foodie ..
food is good, but I wait long time to take my order.
Awesome South Indian (Chettinad style) food. Very flavorful. I would highly recomm
This place has good south Indian style cooked food. Some dishes are spicy, but very good. The quality is good, the cooking is consistent. It is BYOB at this time. The staff is very helpful and will try and accommodate your specific needs.
When busy, like on the weekends, the staff gets a little overwhelmed. But, this will get better as time goes.
We will definitely visit this place again. Will also want to try their weekend brunch. Understand it is special.
Unless they want to pay more for what they get.
Do take me in a wrong way, food tastes good but I felt that it's overpriced. You guys should add atleast 2 Non- Vegetarian and 2 Vegetarian staters in your buffet and you don't have any deserts apart from one sweet.
If you make these changes that will help you in long run and will have repeat customers.
Went for a lunch with a non-Indian friend and hence didn't get to try some of the authentic dishes. The service was very slow and he messed up the order . Personally it didn't live up to my expectations but would like to go there one more time to try the some of the favs from South India
Best food in dallas. All items are authentic and u get everything from soup to pan!
Overall good compare with other restaruant. But it is not tradional. fish kuzhabhu is not good.
This is an interesting concept for the non indian presenting a traditional south Indian restaurant with traditional vegetarian cuisine. I wouldn't say the flavors are outstanding or that the service is remarkable, but in defense of the college students they hire, its reasonable. The concept I speak of is the weekends only unlimited food on a banana leaf menu or a weekdays reduced menu served on a banana leaf lunch. Dinner gets you a standard menu where you will find north indian 'creamy' dishes as well. I suggested this place to my tourist cousins from out of state but feel it unnecessary to go otherwise. The location is much to be desired and the food can be found in the umpteen south Indian restaurants popping up everywhere in North Dallas. There needs to be a control on the messy kids running everywhere and almost being run over by adults due to the dark and narrow aisles. I guess the plan is to stuff as many people in hot, dark and cramped quarters. I must also mention that the juice bar takes up valuable real estate and is wasted space in my opinion. The concept of making reservations is actually a good idea for this type of restaurant space.
Heard a lot but didn't find what I heard. Sorry it was a bad experience.
Madras Pavilion is much better for the value of money. Don't see paying any reason for paying $12 for a langar type food.
The servers were lost and did not offer acceptable service
We went there a few weeks after the restaurant opened and the food was very good. However, the quality seems to have dropped drastically.. I would not go there again.
Food was really good!! Will come here again. But the place is very crowded and service was very slow.
We were really disappointed with the taste of food served on nov 27th. We have been there thrice before and each time the taste and flavour going down.
The food was very tasty and flavorful. Not had such good South Indian food in a long time. Service was also good. Hope the food quality/taste is maintained over time.
food was amazing and even the service. very kid friendly and clean
Great South indian food! Served on a banana leaf, reminds me of being home and eating mom's food back in india. Weekend lunch is the best i have eaten in the US. would recommend it anyone who like indian food. Service is excellent.
Not a place for great south indian food. Not a place for great south indian food.
Food and ambience reminds deep southern Tamil Nadu. Unique menu tingles the taste buds and offers a great treatise. Bold attempt to stand out and wish them the best!
Great Food... But too Pricey..
Food taste is very much closer to what we eat back home in South India... But it is a little too pricier for both adults and kids. Especially for kids.
