This restaurant has an absolutely fabulous view of the bay. The tables and setting are very Polynesian as is some of the food items. One can take cocktails outside near the fire pits, or dine under cover which is good in the rain. Excellent food.
We were lucky enough to catch the Mongolian Buffet Grill - O.M.G! Onolicious! All you can eat, fresh, healthy, amazing!! The only downside was the exorbitant price ($40 pp PLUS a mandatory 18% gratuity - and no matter how small your party is, the 18% is mandatory b/c of the Mongolian buffet).
I expected more from the salad bar ; we had been to Kukui’s at other times in the past when the salad bar offered a lot more choices, such as two soups to choose from. I also expected a dessert bar.
Great food and excellent service! Expect pool & beach traffic by tables with ocean view.
We had our last dinner in Kauai here. Great ambiance, poolside with bar and fire pit seating. We had 7 in our party including children. They offer a children’s menu. Our waitress is excellent, explained the menu to a “T”. Portions are generous here. I had their Sunday Hawaiian BBQ buffet and my wife had the catch of the day, panko crusted ono. She couldn’t even finish her plate, I had to help her and I had the buffet. My daughter also enjoyed her kalbi steak dinner as well. (Pics below) Perfect timing too, came in for 7 pm dinner, saw the sun set. Would definitely recommend especially if you are staying at the Kauai Marriot in Lihu’e like we did, very convenient.
Exceptional Sunday buffet in addition to regular menu, which we tried several times during our visit. Staff is very personable and knowledgeable.
Kukui’s at the Marriott Kaua’i Lagoons is a winner. Our server Sharon was excellent. The outdoor ambiance next to the pool with outdoor fire pits and tiki torches is nice and relaxing. Multiple menu choices including nightly specials, a sushi bar, and everything from a casual flatbread or burger to a grilled rib eye steak. My husband had the chicken flatbread which was terrific. I had theevening special, Mongolian BBQ. It was delicious....picked out my protein (scallops and BBQ pork), vegetables (bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, celery, onion), and noodles (wheat). The chefs were barbecuing your selection on outdoor grills while you watched. It also came with a salad and soup bar (was hot & sour soup on our visit). They have a full bar with wines, beers, and tropical drinks along with the standard offerings. The wine list, though not extensive, works and we accompanied our dinner with an ice cold bottle of Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay. Beautiful way to spend a low key evening in the Islands.
Convenient hotel restaurant with a poolside location. Good size portions.
Enjoyed our brunch. Lovely setting by the pool and very friendly staff, good food too
Was disappointed in the food and pricing. Waitress made things ok but would not return to eat there.
The food was tasty (most of it) but the dining area was very large, very noisy and there were many children running around the pool area, near our table! I felt like the ambience should have been a little better for the price. Also, you couldn’t get a Bloody Mary from the bar until 11:00 - and when we did order one at 11:00, it really wasn’t that good! Not sure the excellent omelette was really worth the $45 per person price tag. Wouldn’t go back! Not sorry that we went once.
Needed a early morning business meeting location and asked for a quieter seating area, under a cooling fan and got just what we wanted.
Great service. All waiters, waitresses, bus people were really friendly.
Nancy was our server, what a great personality & helpful; had such a wonderful time there, food was awesome too.....
Mother’s Day Brunch
We were all very disappointed when I booked the reservation at no time did it say that the mother’s day brunch started at 11am. Our reservation was for 9:15 am which was for the Sunday breakfast buffet which had no dessert except for a danish and little jello cups. No prime rib or anything special. I also know that other parties that were there felt the same very misleading
Great restaurant and bar, but the Sunday Grill Dinner Buffet is bad. The food was cold and there is barely a selection of items. 4 types of meat and a weak salad bar. Come to Kukui’s for the breakfast buffet & the bar, but not the Sunday night grill dinner buffet.
Sunday brunch was delicious and the staff AMAZING!
Very pretty location at the Marriott resort... pleasant ambiance, good service. Food was good. Not amazing, but good. Drinks were great! Soup & salad bar was a bit picked over so left that, otherwise good.
Great place for an adult beverage and delicious appetizers with a close in ocean front seating. Great fire pits nearby and tiki torches provide a nice relaxing atmosphere. Great service and reasonable resort prices. Food is surprisingly delicious.
Always enjoy Kukui's. Breakfast is always good and dinner and lunch are also just right. Service is exceptional at both breakfast and dinner.
The staff is very attentive to your needs. The stuffed salmon was cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.
This is our second visit here, we went back because we were so impressed with the prime rib on our first visit. This time are meals were warm at best, we mentioned it to our server who mentioned it to the kitchen and they offered us a free dessert. Our meal still tasted good but it just wasn't the same quality as the previous time.
Great lunch. Didn’t have time to fit in for dinner. My husband and I shred the vegetable spread, it was fantastic. We also shared the sliders, also very good.
Awesome breakfast bar. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. The omelet chef was amazing.
The food and service were excellent. A little pricy but good
Great ambiance and good food.
Friday night special, the prime rib special was amazing. It came with a soup and salad bar. The salad bar was simple but very fresh and the buns were the best! Soup was a shrimp bisque and it was ok, we added croutons to make it better :) the prime rib was tender and cooked to perfection! Wine was also on special and it was great! We came hungry and left happy! We'll be back
Fish was fishy tasting and the tempora shrimp was right out of the box.
The entire experience was delightful and delicious!!! We loved it from beginning to end!
The service was great from everyone. The Sunday brunch was delicious in a wide variety of hot and cold foods. Great for groups.
Liked outdoor atmosphere close to the beach and pool. Our waitress was really nice and had a good sense of humor.
Excellent service and accommodating staff who understood my husband's special needs re: Parkinson's.
We were sat at a dark large table in a relatively empty restaurant. We were outside and did not even have a light on the table. We were far from the salad bar.
The Pacific salmon and its presentation are excellent.
We had a great time at this restaurant on Valentines night. My husband can’t eat gluten or dairy and the waitress was knowledgeable about that and made sure that the chef knew when cooking his meal. The food was great and service was friendly. Great view and live music.
The Mongolian Buffet (you select the ingredients from bountiful and high quality choices of seafood, meats, and vegetables) was fantastic! And for some the fact you can have seconds and thirds may be a plus.
Special Valentine's dinner was a little pricey, but helpful waitress was great in making it so we could split it. Rain made outside tables a little risky despite umbrellas. Kukui's could be really good, but needs snappier service, "special" touches like flowers or candles on tables, update of tired decor, and more dependably great food. Not our number one Kauai choice, but a good second-tier restaurant.
It was my son's 21st birthday. The sushi was amazing. Bryce did an excellent job and was very accommodating. The ambiance was breath taking with a very calm, clear and perfect 77degree full moon night. Drinks were good and the cauliflower and kale rice was a surprising favorite. Ice cream pie for dessert a must to finish the meal.
