Krua by Nathong Ratings and Reviews
Went to the restaurant because we read great reviews about this place. The pad Thai was really good but three people who ordered lamb felt it couldn't get any worse. Chewy and rubbery, doesn't taste like lamb at all.
Also it was quite dodgy that on the door it says '10% off for all bookings' but after the meal we were told the discount was cash only.
Overall the experience wasn't as good as we expected.
Popped in for working lunch here and the food was delicious! The grilled prawns were juicy and had a great char-grilled taste, with a kick in the sauce! The thai green curry was also very hot and tasty. The seafood special was also really good... we were surprised by the good quality. There are set lunch menus too, but we just picked a few things to share from a la carte and were happy. The staff were super helpful and friendly.
Lunch at Krua was very tasty and the service was efficient. We had spicy calamari (excellent) and vegetarian spring rolls(not great, too much crust and not enough veg), crying tiger (perfectly cooked) and pad thai (as good as we have had anywhere). Would recommend it for a casual business lunch or catch up with a friend.
I'm not sure quite why but at some point during the meal we became invisible. The service started well and the main course was excellent. After that it got weird. There were two other tables in action which theoretically left at least one member of the visible staff free to offer a dessert or coffee. Instead they were happy to chat to the other two tables whilst we waited....and waited...and waited...then 45 minutes later gave up, rugby tackled (well not quite but it could have been necessary) a passing staff member and paid the bill.
The staff do the waiting not the punters people.
I was looking for somewhere new to take my fiance for his birthday and found Krua online. Menu looked great, and the reviews were good so I booked it.
Krua is nicely hidden away and from the moment we walked in the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.
There really is too much to choose from on the menu but what we did choose (a lot!) was all delicious. I'd even go as far as saying that the steak in their Crying Tiger was cooked much better than a lot of the city steak restaurants - tender, juicy and full of flavour.
After our main meal, the waiter remembered that I'd mentioned it was my fiance's birthday in the booking and came to our table singing and carrying a complimentary dessert with a candle in it! Nice touch was very much appreciated.
Krua - we will be back to work our way around your menu!
We had booked for 5pm and when we arrived it was all closed up! But thankfully somebody came out to us straight away and reassured us we were ready to go......we were alone in the restaurant for a while but that was due to the early time we chose.....about an hour later a few more tables arrived.
We were given Thai crackers and chilli sauce and ordered dumplings to start and a mixed platter which were delicious. Main course was duck in tamarind and Duck with fruits with coconut rice and sticky rice as side orders. Both dishes were cooked beautifully, the duck was melt in the mouth tender and the rice was lovely and coconutty!!! As we were full we were going to skip dessert but we were told that if we liked their FB page and checked in that we would get a free special dessert.....of course we obliged! We were given a lovely warm cake type dessert with ice cream.....a nice finish to a great meal
We would totally recommend this restaurant to others, if I could give any constructive feedback it would be to bring something warm as the restaurant was a little chilly, other than it was a great choice!
