KRES CHOPHOUSE Ratings and Reviews
I heard a lot great reviews about Kres and finally got the opportunity to try them out. Billy Ray, the General Manager , greeted us at the front and was incredibly hospitable the entire evening. Food was amazing. Service was spot on. Steaks came out perfect with the right char on the outside and juicy and tender inside. The white chocolate bread pudding is to die for.
Two things they need to work on...the decor is from 15 years ago. It really needs to be updated. And while the wine list is very good, they do not keep it at proper temperature. If you are paying that much for a very nice bottle of wine, it needs to be served at the right temperature.
Although food was good, would not recommend. We were seated at 8:25pm for a 7:30 reservation. Hostess told us 25 min wait on arrival then revised to 15 mins. A 55 minute wait on Wednesday with a reservation was unreasonable. We would have preferred to make the decision to leave if they had been honest.
At Kres Chophouse for a business dinner. Ambiance was upscale and quiet, providing ease of conversation - an important feature for a business dinner. Two of us ordered the Beef Wellington, and the third ordered a different beef dish. All of us were well satisfied with our choices. Finished the meal with a chocolate dessert that was perfect for a chocoholic.
Our waitperson, Jay, was quite personable and took the time to explain the origin of the name. The restaurant was in a former Kresge's 5&10 store, and two of us at the table were old enough to remember the original Kresges chain.
It was absolutely wonderful. From beginning to end. Food was grade A. The service was outstanding. The location could’ve been better as its next to a club/bar area. Parking on a day of an event is no fun. Table was ready as soon as we got there. Would go again.
We always enjoy Kres, and it had been a while since we'd been. We started at the bar, since we were a little bit early for our reservation. MAKE A RESERVATION - it was completely packed on a Friday night! Everything was great, as usual, including the wine recommendation and cadence of food delivery. We will make a point of going more often!
I was in Orlando alone on business and wanted a nice dinner. Everything about Kres was perfect. I was served a delicious steak and drink at a table that did not make me feel conspicuously alone. The wait staff was just lovely and very attentive. I would highly recommend!
Arrived on time for a Noon reservation and seated promptly. Ten minutes later we are greeted by the waiter and asked for drink orders. Drinks arrive and we order our meal.... 30 minutes later our food arrives. All in, over 45 minutes to get food and drink. Waiter apologizes as there is a large group in the restaurant taking precedent. Food was good and service when it was happening was good. Perhaps management should have more staff on hand when large groups are known to be coming to the restaurant.
Very enjoyable meal and setting. We sat at the window table and the lighting was good. The rest of the restaurant was a little dark for me, especially going down the steps that were not well lit and did not have a handrail. But, the overall experience was quite memorable, great attentive staff (Al and Maggie? )and we were done in time to make it to the Andre Rieu Show at the Amway Center. Definitely a 5 Star! If you have the opportunity, make sure you go. You won't be dissapointed. We are from Maryland but I would surely include Kres Chophouse for dinner if we visit Orlando again.
My foie gras on top of of my steak was cold but my friend loved her salmon. The service was great; that’s why I decided to dine here as I’ve dined here several times before. This was my first underwhelming experience but it will not stop me from dining here in the future.
The food was excellent. The lobster bisque came highly recommended and did not dissapont. Our waiter (from Jamaica) was outstanding. Very pleasant and efficient. He made us feel welcome while providing excellent service. It was a truly memorable evening.
The restaurant is located at the heart of the downtown night scene in Orlando. That however does not take away from how classy the restaurant is. The servers care and are always making sure everything is fine, refilling your glass of wine when close to empty (is a bottle is bought).
Celebrated my wife’s birthday and the server never even acknowledged it, even though I listed it on the reservation. He wasn’t attentive at all and failed to even ask how we wanted our steaks cooked. When asked about it he simply stated, “Oh, I just told them medium”.
The food however was amazing despite the lousy service. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides of au gratin potatoes and crispy brussel sprouts were possibly the best I’ve ever had.
This is always our go to restaurant when we go to Dr Phillips for a show. The staff is especially attentive and the food expertly prepared. Try the elk loin, you won't be disappointed and if you like Brussel Sprouts you are in for a treat.....the crispy Brussel Sprouts are amazing.
Asked for my "well" steak to be butterfly-cut. They butterflied the entire steak. Not cool. Waitress told us she would start our drink order "they will take a while", not what I wanted to hear. We had a curtain, but were not in a hurry. Had to flag her down EVERY time we needed a drink. I remarked on decor that was hanging on the south wall of restaurant I liked from the previous restaurant that had been at this location (waitress was aware of previous restaurant) , she said they probably won't keep the artwork much longer. I asked if the restaurant was redecorating, she said no the art was just "vulgar" with nudity. Mundane steak, potato, vegs and service. Nice wine list.
My husband and I selected this restaurant for our 23rd wedding celebration in Orlando, FL. We are from the DC/Maryland area. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he was absolutely wonderful!! Also, the food was fantastic! We both chose the ribeye and were very pleased. Our waiter ensured that we had the delicious bread pudding as a comped dessert for our anniversary celebration. We enjoyed this so much because I'm a southerner and our family loves bread pudding - the whiskey liquer helped a lot too:). We could not have enjoyed a nicer experience for our anniversary - I am so glad that we chose a locally-owned establishment. The evening was flawless - we will DEFINITELY return again.
