KRES CHOPHOUSE Ratings and Reviews
The experience at Kres Chophouse was exceptional. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We highly recommend going there. You will not be disappointed. The only problem we had was when we walked out of the restaurant, which happened to be after 8 p.m. There apparently is a hip hop bar or club right next door the was blasting music with lyrics that were just horrible. There were also thug type people hanging around the front entrance that really made us feel unsafe. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes but this type of restaurant should not be next to a gangsta bar that is playing obscene music so loud you could not speak to the person next to you. We will probably not dine there again for this reason. It just feels unsafe there at night. It is a shame because the restaurant is outstanding.
Although the ambiance and the food were superb, I was disappointed that my Open Table reservation either never got to them or they ignored it. It was obvious the Maitre d' could not find it. (He asked if we were celebrating a special occasion which was another indication that he had not read our reservation because that was stated in the comment section when the reservation was made.) We had also requested a corner, intimate table and were seated right in the middle of the dining room. The waiter told us they had White Zinfandel when we ordered it, and brought us 2 other wines in an attempt to sell us something different because he wouldn't admit to us they didn't have any White Zin, even after asking him twice if they didn't! We finally asked for the wine menu again and ordered or own without his suggestions. We ordered Hollandaisze sauce with the asparagus, and the waiter again did not admit to not having it by bringing us Bearnaise sauce instead. The restaurant and food were wonderful; the waiter needs a little more educating in regards to what they do have and what they don't; and be honest and admit if there are items when requested that they don't have.
The waitress was great! She was pleasent, came around often to refill our waters, and was able to tell me about dishes effectively. The food was AMAZING. So many flavors blended so nicely, I loved it. Had no idea beef could have so much taste. Was 100% worth the price.
Went for second anniversary, included it in reservation, nothing was done. Both entrees were not cooked to requested temperature. Server was somewhat familiar with menu but service was not that attentive, water glasses were empty most of the meal empty glasses had to be put on edge of table and the food runner filled them. Best thing about the experience was the cocktails
Kres has a lovely atmosphere. I had the filet minion Wellington, and it was exceptional. While waiting for my friend to arrive, I had a glass of wine at the bar. Ginger, the bartender was knowledgeable & friedly! She helped me select a wine to suit my taste after a few simple questions, and she passed the info along to our server. I was also treated to a lovely bread pudding dessert (it was a belated birthday celebration). I think this is THE best option for fine dining on church street, and they are open early enough to enjoy a meal before taking in a show at the Mad Cow Theatre, located across the street.
We've been going to Kres for years and it is consistently great. On this occasion the kitchen was extremely slow. Thank god once the food finally arrived it was up to standards. However, it made us very late to our show. I hope they can get their kitchen back on up to speed.
This was our first time going to eat at a nice restaurant in Orlando since we just moved to Florida. We all agree we made a great choice. Our server was fantastic, knowledgeable and made our meal more enjoyable. The food was as good as any steakhouse we have dined in, and we have been to many.
Food was prepared very well. The cocktail sauce tasted too much like tomato, but if you added enough horseradish, it kind of masked that flavor. Steaks were all prepared correctly, and the side dishes were fantastic.
Service was fine. Our server wasn't particularly engaging, but she did everything efficiently.
That being said, I would go back, but would probably sit at the bar instead of a table in the dining room.
Kres Chophouse was a great trendy place downtown. This was my second attempt to eat here. The first time had over an hour wait, so we made reservations in advance this time. Excellent service and outstanding food! Our filets were so perfect, my mouth is still watering while writing this.
Great waiter (his name was JFK- really!), octopus appetizer wonderful and tender, we split the warm spinach and bacon salad-again, very tasty. I had the rib eye and my wife had the elk, both done perfectly. You have to try their version of an Old Fashioned cocktail. We'll be back.
Been there before. In the past, the food was much far better last few visits and even worth the high price. However, this time, the waitress suggested the ribeye. I usually get the filet which is great. I tried it. Sadly, the Kress ribeye was worse than an Outback sirloin. It was cooked correctly but was very tough and has too much stringy chewy fat. For $44, it was just not up to the Kress standards I had come to expect. I didn't even finish it. Pretty bad. Dissatisfied. Might need to do Flemings next, as they are more consistent and same price point.
This was my first visit to Kres Chophouse. The service was amazing. Our waiter bent over backward to accommodate the seven women in my party. Including separate checks all around. I shared the ribeye, au gratin potatoes and Brussel sprouts. They were all very tasty. I topped the dinner off with a decaf cappuccino. We all went away full and happy. I will make it a point to come back to Kres the next time I am in town.
We could not have been more pleased with our dining experience. The food was delicious and serice was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and provided a very romantic ambiance for celebrating our anniversary. They even surprised us a complimentary dessert to wish us a happy anniversary. I think we have found our new favorite romantic restaurant!
All of the food was delicious, but the Filet Mignon was out of this world! It melted in our mouths. It was like dessert. Scallops and lamp ribs were tasty too! The server didn't come around as often as he should after the food was ordered. Our drinks were empty longer than they should be and never cleared any entree dishes until dessert came. Dessert took longer than the entries. The bread pudding dessert was extraordinary though.
