KRES CHOPHOUSE Ratings and Reviews
We had a bit of an issue with Uber and arrived late for our reservation...and still had to make it to the Dr P. Center for Harry Connick Jr....our waiter Jared helped make that possible. We had the oysters rock again (delish), shared the elk (as great as we'd hoped - rare is the way to go with a side of the pork belly)...and the amazing best-ever creamed spinach. We finished off a bottle of Faust in the bargain and still made our seats as the first notes of piano started.
A bit disappointed. Steak was okay, nothing great. My wife had a fish entree, which was good, but nothing to come back for. The service was below our standards. Seemed like our waiter had too many tables. For the price, we were expecting a bit better. Between the "okay" meal and the so-so service, not sure if we'd go back.
Overall a great experience. The only negative i see is the parking which $8 with a stamp otherwise is $15. I understand is in the heart of downtown Orlando but a restaurant this classy I would expect to include parking. On that note... Cant wait to go back.
My wife and I were quite excited to have secured reservations before the Alton Brown Live! event at the Dr. Philips Center. We arrived just shy of our 6:30 PM reservation; and, were greeted by two gentlemen at the door. Arriving at the hostess stand, we were seated immediately.
For cocktails, I settled for a Vieux Carre (a rye bourbon concoction, with one of those enormous ice balls in the glass). It was quite good, once I was able to stir the contents a bit; and, harkened memories of molasses... very warming, on a chilly night. My wife ordered the Basil Fresca, which featured vodka, strawberry and basil. She said it was very good.
Our server Paul was quite perfunctory, spending the least amount of time possible with us. I know he had other guests attending other events, because he asked which one we were attending, and sighed, "oh good, so you have some time!"
We were both in the mood for seafood, so my wife ordered Line-caught Yellow Fin Tuna; and, I opted for the Seafood Misto. Everything was cooked to order... although both our fish went a little past the requested doneness. My wife should have ordered rare, on the tuna; but, had forgotten and ordered medium rare. I wasn't provided an option on my salmon, which was cooked through.
The most surprising thing, however, was the utter lack of any seasoning, sauce, or creative flare or twist. Everything tasted fine; my salmon, scallops, and shrimp had an excellent char; but, that was it. And, between "what do you want' and "here it is" service was lacking; and, the food was really just okay... at more than $55 per-person for cocktail, main and tip, it might be a while until we return.
Kres is our "go to" special evening out place. You're going to spend some money, but if you can swing it the food, service, and ambiance are well worth it. What we love about Kres is that the service is great - attentive, friendly, and helpful - and the food is just spectacular.
We love the roasted brussel sprouts as a side item, any of their steaks are great (I like the ribeye), and their white chocolate bread pudding is good that you won't want to share it. (And, it's HUGE.)
This is a super cool place with a nice relaxing vibe. Good place to eat before a show!
I love the energetic feel of this place. Went on saturday night, had a good time
Ordered Ribeye, was a bit tough, but the other entree made up
Duck was very good, shrimp mac n cheese was awesome as well
Top it off with what has to be the best dessert on the menu, bread pudding!!!
A great restaurant in downtown orlando.
My Husband had been to Kres`s before but it was my 1st time. It was everything he described and more. From the amazing Oysters Rockefeller to the filet ala Oscar and through to the delectable dessert. It was all delicious!. The ambiance was perfect too! A converted department store they kept the wonderful architecture but the décor was completely modern. Our server Kevin was fantastic, attentive ,friendly and most of all he encouraged us to savor every course. The owners Rob and Billy were extremely warm and welcoming. We wanted to go back again the next night but we had another event to attend before leaving town.
Went there to eat Saturday night before the Seinfeld show. We were in a little bit of a rush. We sat for over 10 min before anyone came to our table. Finally, the maitre d came up and apologized and offered to buy our first round of drinks. Other than that experience, we loved Kres and will be back.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Orlando for the night and chose this restaurant mostly because of its proximity to a show that we were going to see that night. We were pleasantly surprised by the fabulous experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful with his recommendations of wine and food and we could not have been more pleased with the food, wine and service. We were enjoying the experience so much that we lost track of time but our waiter knew that we had tickets to a show and made sure that we left just in time. I would highly recommend this restaurant. A+
We enjoyed Kres for our 9th wedding anniversary and it could not have been better. The staff was very nice, the food was exceptional and the latte at the end was to die for! We would go back for sure. And the price was not that bad. Spend $112.00 for 1 glass of wine, 1 shared app, 2 meals, 2 lattes and a dessert.
Kress is the place to go prior to a play at the new playhouse or as we did a concert at the Am way Center. They have valet parking.
The bar is very comfortable with about 6 or 7 high top tables that are first come basis.
We had the Calamari and a Wedge salad and split a fresh fish dinner. It was more then enough for two.
Everyone working there were professional. All the food and drinks were very good, we didn't have room for coffee.
We will go back here next time we need a great restaurant downtown.
the restaurant was romantic, like stepping back into time when service and elegance were a priority. the service was excellent. when making the reservation I put down that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, the staff was aware of this, from the moment we walked in they treated us accordingly. we were treated with a bread pudding desert n/c.
My food was great. However my boyfriend had their "specialties" including calamari and new York steak and barely touched his food. I think it depends on what you order.
The veggies are great and so is the mixed grill but the steaks are dry and overdone. The fried items are chewy and stale. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday night and it could be due to lack of theme/ uniqueness. There was a lot of random menu items. The servers were very nice and service was prompt.
The food and service were both exceptional. The calamari and the new seafood misto were absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our dinner so much we came back for dessert after the ballet performance. We shared different ones and could not decide which was the best!
Valet parking was so convenient. We just walked to the Dr Philips Center for the show, came back to Kres for dessert. Made for a perfect evening!
Kres, with it's uncomfortable seating, left my wife and I feeling full but unimpressed. The Filet Wellington and sampler platter consisting of lamb, filet, shrimp and scallops had good flavor but weren't extraordinary as you would expect as you're eating at $100 meal. By the time we finished eating and left we concluded the food wasn't bad, it just wasn't worth a return visit to spend that kind of money again.
I went here with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary. Note that we went relatively early (6:30 pm) for dinner, so the place was not very busy at the time. The first thing we noticed was the unique decor. Lots of red and a darker lighting gives a classy, romantic mood to the restaurant. We were seated quickly and the server was very polite and helpful. We ordered an 8 oz sirloin and an 8 oz elk steak (the elk was our server's recommendation). Both were cooked perfectly (both were medium rare). We also got a free order of bread pudding since it was our anniversary (we weren't expecting it for free which was a very nice surprise). The bread pudding is to die for, and a must try if you are opting for dessert. Overall, a perfect dinner.
I wanted a nice evening out with my date and a friend suggested Kres. I made reservations through OpenTable and upon arrival was led directly to a table in a nice spot. The waiter was attentive if a bit aloof. The wine was very good though I don't recall the name. My date had steak Diane and it was fantastic. Excellent cuts of beef, perfectly prepared, nicely presented and it tasted great. I had salmon which was a bit dry but tasty. In all, it was a top notch experience.
I was in Orlando for a trade show. Booking a reservation at Kres using Open Table was easy and flawless. Sometimes booking a restaurant when entertaining customers you need luck. From the time the hostess greeted us until we left the restaurant, we were all impressed. The food was great and the service we received from Jennifer was unmatched in my 24 years of travel and entertaining. Jennifer had wine recommendations and food suggestions that were spot on. All of us enjoyed the complete experience.
The food here is very good. We went on a Saturday night. But was surprised at the low number of people there to eat. Love that valet parking is right outside the door, so no need to find parking. I would recommend this place for good food and great service.
Kres Chophouse was a great experience. There were 3 of us. We were greeted immediately and sat at the table right after, no waiting. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly all through dinner. The decor was excellent, definitely 5 star and modern. I originally saw the Bison Ribeye on their website menu, but it was no longer on their actual menu unfortunately. We ordered the Colorado Lamb Ribs and Escargot for appetizers, both were amazing. For entrees, we had the NY Prime Sixteen, Filet 8oz, and Duo of Duck. All three were top tier. The sides were Baked Potato and Shrimp and Bacon Mac n Cheese. Baked Potato was good, but the Mac n Cheese was disappointing. Dessert was creme brulee and the molten cake, both were delicious. Fantastic dinner!
