Krazy Kat's at The Inn at Montchanin Village Ratings and Reviews
Hidden away, this restaurant is worth the effort. They have a ten dollar lunch special that is not to be missed. The crab melt is delicious as are the soups. Dinner and brunch are fabulous. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are very reasonable.
Celebrated a special birthday. The Phyllo short rib and beet salad were perfect starters. Both were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The entrees came in full and half portions which made it easy not to overeat. The venison was delicious, not gamey, and appropriately seasoned. The stroganoff was moist and flavorful. The service was impeccable. Wish we lived closer!! We would dine there often!!
We dined at Krazy Kats prior to seeing a show in Wilmington. I hadn’t been here in years but I’m so glad we came back. The ambiance is so fun, our server was lovely and attentive and the food was excellent. Be sure to inquire about the pre fixe menu. It was just the right amount of food for us and we loved the Chardonnay selection that it offered as well.
We discovered Krazy Kats a number of years ago, it remains one of, in our opinion, one of the top five restaurants in the North Eastern states. Our travels take us to DC regularly and this is a short trip off of I 95 for a most enjoyable repast. We have never been disappointed with Krazy Kate's in anything that they offer.
Elegant yet comfortable setting. Went for dinner after visit to nearby Brandywine Museum Chadds Ford. Wonderful menu hard to choose. It’s a nice blend of classic items mixed with creative twists. Hard to decide what to order. Nice wines and good cocktails also. Had surf and turf. Spouse had duck breast. Both perfect. Fois gras superb and great dessert and cheese options. Fluffy pumpkin cheesecake delightful. About forty mins from center city Philly. I’d love to go again! It’s located in charming Village of Montchanin. B and B. Excellent server. She was also bartender on Sunday. Very well versed in the menu and made helpful suggestions. They went out of their way to please and satisfy us! Just delightful.
One of our favorites. Great food and quiet atmosphere promote conversation. Service is outstanding and not stuffy. Lovely location makes this a special place. The half portion option allows one to sample several entrees in one sitting. Menu offers enough options to allow for multiple choices. Wine list very good. Some dishes could be altered to allow for dietary restrictions. We have been here several times and it always delivers.
Loved the atmosphere at Krazy Kats. When we arrived for our reservation, clearly the dining area was understaffed. Evidently they prefer to only take guests with reservations and much of the diners present had shown up unscheduled. There was only one waitress on staff and the hostess and helper had to assist her. She was a bit frazzled and service overall was slow. This is a great place for a leisure lunch.
We had ordered the Mac & Cheese as we really wanted to try the duck proscuitto. It arrived without the duck. We thought we had missed something so asked. The chef acknowledged the mistake and replaced it with a serving to go. We ordered the apple tart for dessert which was served cold and the interior was liquid and not custard like. Wouldn't recommend.
Overall the food was excellent, the wait team while a bit disorganized were friendly and wanted to make things right.
Great service and great food. KK was very responsive when I asked for a round table. One was set and ready for us at the time of our reservation. On a cold and rainy day, we were warmly received and cared for beautifully!
Fantastic food and service! This is a beautiful restaurant. The complementary birthday desserts for my husband and father were a nice touch! They had small plates and regular plates so if you want to try different things you can. All the food we got was top-notch. We will definitely be returning.
Have been for dinner (date night) and lunch with visiting family. For dinner, was seated in the main dining room with wonderful cat and dog portraits and fires going. Very nice ambience and very comfortable. For lunch, was seated in the side room.. it’s ok, but not as charming (or warm - it was a chilly day). We got there about noon and people who came in about 1 or so were overflowed into the main dining room. But aim too late and you’d be the second seating in the side room... food was ok for lunch and dinner. Basically the same menu. Nothing I’d order again except the cheese plate (wish they had good brie) and maybe fish and chips (tho the potatos were slightly undercooked). Desserts are pretty horrible. Rum raisin cake was incredibly dense... bombe was tasty but impossible to eat (frozen solid) and grand mariner layer was tiny and had no hint of grand mariner (but orange peel garnish was great).... Chocolate cake was dry... definitely need to work on that. Service during dinner was on the slower side but that was ok by me (lingering over date night)... lunch service was just super slow!!! Def priced higher than better restaurants... that being said, we’ll be back for the ambience.
We had a good meal here for our anniversary. The food was generally good but I felt that both main course entrees were entirely too salty.. and I like salt. Also, I like my beef on the rare edge of medium rare, but the filet was more on the medium end. I probably should have sent these items back, but I just didn't want to deal with the hassle.
There was also a lot of noise overhead as if someone was doing work up there, but this was Saturday night. We will go again but will probably keep our entrees to the half size in order to keep the price more in line with the experience. And ask them to go light on the salt and the beef!
Girls lunch out. We could talk, eat, and enjoy the ambiance. Not rushed. Server knew the menu - ingredients, how prepared, changing things, etc. My friends and myself were arguing about who had the best meal!! I still think I did. We drove down from Bucks County. Once in the Brandywine area is soooo pretty. Not far from Longwood Gardens, various Dupont Estates, and shopping.
We had a very enjoyable brunch celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. The food was excellent, and we didn't feel rushed at all, even though we made a later reservation. Our server was average, but without much personality. I was disappointed that I included the fact that it was our anniversary in the "comments" section on Open Table when I booked, and it was not even mentioned during our time there. (My husband would have been mortified if I announced it, so that was why I included it in the "special instructions" section of the reservation on the Open Table website). It just would have been extra special to have our server wish us a happy anniversary, and I think if she'd known, she would have been more enthusiastic. We will definitely be back though!
The husband and I came here for our anniversary--enjoying spa services then brunch at the restaurant. We have been here before. The food is *always* good. I cannot tell if the kitchen was perhaps short-staffed but we did have to wait. The server was very apologetic though, which I find way more helpful than the server/host pretending that one hasn't been waiting. We came from the DC area so found it a great value.
We celebrated a family birthday the other night. Everyone was welcoming and our server, Kimberly, did a great job. Whoever instructed the Wait Staff on how to make a good drink did an excellent job - I am never disappointed. We mostly chose different menu options and all of us were satisfied with what we received. We were glad that our "birthday girl" just raved about her dinner - it was her first visit to KK. I don't remember the name of our dessert but it had to be just about the best thing ever - an old-fashioned type of applesauce cake with green tea ice cream and fruit and was real comfort food. Another special evening at what has become our "go-to" favorite restaurant.
Once again Krazy Kats did not disappoint!
Our bridge club met there for lunch on Wednesday and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and professional , the food was fresh and delicious with a nice array of choices for all palates and the atmosphere was truly the best!
We also loved the "house wine" which was William Hill.
We will definitely be back!!
Thanks again for a really enjoyable afternoon.
An anticipated second visit started badly when we were shunted into a side room with bare white walls at 5:30 with an empty main dining room. This dining "room" had some of the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in. The chairs leaned back with no back support. Our appetizers were very good. We each ordered two entrees of the half size. Both meat dishes were supposed to be med. rare but were virtually raw. Then, after a long wait between courses, the chicken dish we ordered was so dry and overcooked as to be tasteless. The accompanying asparagus with my venison was laughable in its two meager stalks.
