We had two wonderful dinners and brunch/breakfasts while staying at the Inn at Montchanin. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere lovely. Would highly recommend... Especially appreciated that one could order small plates for most entrées.
Great ambiance, really delicious food but a tad overpriced. The restaurant wasn’t busy but our service was a little slow... but our waitress AND her asst were really nice. I’d def try their brunch and will recommend this restaurant to others
Krazy Kats is an all around first rate experience, excellent service, and outstanding food!
I wrote a very positive review on Yelp. Please go there to see why I LOVE this place!
Food was excellent. Initially, we waited a VERY long time to receive a first glass of wine prior placing our order. We had to ask another server for it. Additionally, the "back server" was a little too zealous in trying to clear our plates. Overall, it was a lovely evening. The crab bisque was so tasty that I asked for another order to-go. The restaurant has a good selection of dessert wines, port and after dinner drinks... much appreciated.
A very good Sunday night dinner. Only issue of any note was that food was too slow getting out of the kitchen. Two of our three tried the $35 prix-fixe menu with one of the $20 wines (an excellent red, pleasantly surprised). Sweet-potato gnocchi were heavier than my preference; there were quite a few of them and they could have filled me up if I let them, lol. Crab bisque was good and crabby, above average. Filet good. I find Krazy Kat's an unusually well-managed restaurant; the dining room is carefully tended-to; don't think I've ever felt crowded, rushed, or beset with voices and noise. We can always converse and don't feel we bother anyone else, either. That plus the unusual décor makes a wonderful atmosphere for a dinner out, IMO.
Our second visit. Went with friends.
Good service - interesting menu - good food. Enjoyed the evening.
Would recommend it to others.
Not my first visit to Krazy Kat's, however, my first in a little over two years. The menu has always been creative, and the wine list has been expanded since my last visit. All in all, if you're in the vicinity of the restaurant, I recommend making a reservation. They also serve brunch, although I have not personally attended, I'm sure it's a worthwhile destination.
Visited for my 50th birthday lunch with my Mom. Service was slow and unprofessional. Food was overcooked and mediocre. Extremely overpriced for quality level. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. The manager (the Exec Chef) was concerned when we explained our dissatisfaction and somewhat dismissive. The only bright spot was that the hostess - Suki - made every attempt to make things right. Howeve, it was append that she was not empowered to do so. What a shame. I had high hopes that I would find another regular place to dine.
We like Krazy Kat's and have been there about seven or eight times. We were there for their Sunday Brunch celebrating a family member's birthday. We choose Krazy Kat's based on past experiences with service, food and ambience. Unfortunately, the service this time was not their best or close to it. In particular, our waitress. She didn't introduce herself upon coming to our table. She seemed uncertain about some menu items and overall not well verse with attention to detail.
Quaint and unexpected- I had the scallops- they were cooked perfectly - the service was outstanding - kudos to Max - the atmosphere also gets high marks.
Service was excellent...present, but not overbearing. Appetizers and drinks were excellent and delivered in a timely fashion. My wife and son loved their food. I had the Buffalo short rib, and initially the flavors were very good with the hint of fruit and coffee crusting coming through on the first bite...but about midway through it got very salty. I thought maybe it was because I'd read some of the other reviews and had a salt bias, so I gave it a few more bites but it was still too salty. I would still highly recommend going to KK but would say that you may want to request "easy on the salt". The quality of the meats and other dishes is great so I'm not sure why the need for so much salt. We live close by and I would still keep this on my "go to" list for a nice dinner...
First, the service was beyond compare, Michelle was absolutely wonderful. Our first course of salad and soup (exotic mushroom) was outstanding. Unfortunately, the chef was very heavy handed with the amount of salt and seasoning added to each entrée. The Pan-seared Scallops were so over seasoned, my wife could not eat two of the four scallops (very unusual). My entrée was one of the specials for the evening, Mahi-Mahi and like the Scallops, the seasoning over powered the flavor of the fish. The excessive seasoning caused us to be quite disappointed with each entrée.
In order to cleanse our pallet of the heavy seasoning, we ordered and thoroughly enjoyed our desserts, Crème Brulee and Pumpkin Cheese Cake. We closed out our evening with a wonderful glass of port.
This time we went to Krazy Kats for Sunday Brunch. I had the special French Toast, which never disappoints. Love the fruit garnish and the display on the plate. My wife had omelette which was also a winner. KK is a lovely spot for brunch or dinner.
Had an early reservation with the restaurant no more than half full. Took too long for our server to come to our table (Close to 10m). Both of us ordered the braised short rib hash, which turned out to be not available. The server came back in a few min to tell us that the short ribs weren’t ready- oh well. I ordered the omelette special, which turned out to be very good with mushrooms, ham, cheddar and tomatoes. My mom order eggs Benedict, which were very over done (yolks completely solid). She said the hollandaise at least was very good. The eggs Benedict at another casual restaurant nearby tend to be cooked better for half the price. Bloody Mary’s still are the best around, at least. KK seems to be off a bit for brunch.
We have such a good time when we go to Krazy Kats that we have been going more often. It is convenient and doesn't disappoint. I especially enjoy the amuse bouches. Our waitress, Michelle, was delightful, as was Max , her helper. It was crowded and had a nice ambiance. I also like the gas fire on a cold night. It was the 3rd time this year that I have had their wonderful apple/raisin spice cake for dessert...so tasty. I also like the fact that you can order a smaller dinner; especially helpful because I always want an appetizer first and so I don't feel so guilty having it. We all liked our food and enjoyed the evening.
Went to Krazy Kat’s for my birthday and it lived up to every great thing I have ever heard! Our server was wonderful and the food was incredible. I had the venison and it was perfectly cooked and tender. Worth every penny!
Unique venue, great food.
Turn up the lights a bit. I was the only one there for most of the meal and had trouble reading my Daily Racing Form!
Great little place, awesome atmosphere, friendly staff overall. Menu had a nice selection.
I will go to try lunch or dinner. My husband had the lobster quiche and loved it. My waffle was cold and only so so. My daughter had the stuffed French toast which wasn’t great either.
Hostess, busboy, owner all attentive and friendly, our waitress however needs a lot of grooming, she was not up to the caliber of the place, she was at best a diner waitress. Not rude and not bad just not good. Slow and everything was a bit of a bother and not friendly. Other than that it was a fun little place and we will try it again.
I have been coming to Krazy Kat's for 20 years and have never been disappointed with my meal. We had a wonderful meal here again for a casual date night. Barbara was our server and went above and beyond with her level of service to us. We will definitely be back again for another great meal and bring new friends to try out this amazing restaurant.
New Year’s Eve!
Best meal we have had in 3 years! We went for NYE and each course was presented beautifully and tasted incredible.
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences in recent years. Gourmet food, excellent service in Krazy Kats usual wonderful ambiance. On New Years Eve this kind of dining is very unusual. Great job by the Chef, Barbara and the whole team!
Great food, love the quaintness of the village. Should consider making area a destination.
Excellent food, excellent service, and a very well-managed dining room by the staff. Another excellent dinner experience at Krazy Kat's.
Food a bit variable, atmosphere good, service reasonably paced, value in the ability to order half portions.
Great food, fun setting. Food presented in beautiful manner, and tastes great! Busy day, so service a bit slow, but I would return when in the area, again.
Krazy Kats is one of our favorite restaurants on the East Coast. It is in the beautiful village of Montchanin, just outside Wilmington, Delaware. The food is innovative and creative, but always reliably delicious (we have visited many times). In winter especially the soups are not to be missed -- my husband adores the crab bisque and I look forward to the squash soup. The meat and seafood are top quality, and prepared with great care. Try the lamb osso bucco on a cold night -- it is hearty, flavorful, gloriously delicious, and immensely satisfying. The vegetables and sides are always perfectly matched to the meal's focal point. I love the atmosphere and ambiance at Krazy Kats, which is fun and a bit funky while simultaneously warm, inviting, and relaxing. Ask for a table near the fireplace. Excellent bar with hand crafted cocktails.
Enjoyed the menu and food a lot. good Risotto appetizer and great seafood!
