Krazy Kat's at The Inn at Montchanin Village
Loved our dinner,
Overall, we loved Krazy Kat’s and would visit regularly. Unfortunately this past visit was not as nice as our previous experiences. The server changed the total of the check after taking the payment. Apparently, she made an error initially and instead of informing us of the error, just added the additional charges. Of course we do not mind paying what we owe, however the lack of honesty and open communication is unacceptable. If you do visit, check the bill and check what was charged.
Anniversary. Did not get anything special or even recognition that it was our anniversary which I put on reservation.
Fabulous food and great service.
menu is not great. No salmon, sea bass floated in white rice, not appetizing. Scallops were good although my wife thought they were too greasy
Excellent, attentive service from all staff. Food was well prepared but not served as hot as it should be. The escargot was cool and the sauce overwhelmed it, but it was tasty
Beautiful atmosphere....lovely waitress. Delicious food. Dessert was amazing. Great wine selection.....we cannot say enough about this Delaware gem!!!
Food was delicious. Our waitress really tried her best and we were appreciative of her efforts. I guess the evening was hectic for them so we were ignored for a good chunk of the evening. From the service that I've observed from the other tables, we were definitely treated subpar. It is what it is. I received an email earlier in the week advertising their Sunday specials but none of that was available tonight - wish they would've fine printed that they didn't mean the Sunday after they sent out the email aka THIS Sunday. I've read great reviews on here so I was a tad disappointed with our experience.
The service was very slow and a lot of dishes were sold out buy 7'pm!
Food was excellent. Mushroom soup cup was so small though that it was difficult and messy to eat since it was done in a French onion soup style.
Delicious brunch served by friendly staff in a comfortable and intimate setting. Highly recommend.
This was the perfect place for my Boyfriend and I to celebrate Valentines Day. The food was amazing, and the service was outstanding. It was quaint and quiet enough for us to hold conversations the entire time without having to repeat ourselves. We will definitely be dining here again.
Couple ahead stole our reserved downstairs table right in front of us because they caused a ruckus about being sat upstairs because they didn’t have a reservation. We did. And we got sat upstairs. Abby the host/manager said that upstairs was for non reservations right in front of us so I know that to be true. So I figured embrace it, we sat last time down stairs. Well they walked us upstairs outside in the 20 degree weather. And we were sat right in front of the door where the cold wind blew us every time the door was opened. So she was freezing. The fireplace wasn’t lit upstairs. We sat for 20-25 min before someone talked to us and she gave us water from the pitcher she was carrying. The waitress finally got to us 40 min after we sat there. Not joking at all, I watched the clock. So we were disappointed with the menu, 3 years ago I took her here for our first valentines. And surprised her with coming back. We enjoyed the valentines menu back then were you each pick an app, a salad, an entree and a dessert. This time it was same but entree you had to get the heart shaped ribeye. Which she does not eat that cut and I’m not the biggest fan either. So we passed that and got normal menu items. She got the filet and it had zero seasoning or sauce. Unless you count the small drips on the corner, but it looked more like a Demi glacé then a sauce. So hers was very unseasoned and not to par as it should of been. The sea bass was good, but I later found out it was the small portion. They offered to bring me a large too but I declined as we already decided to pass desert and go home and order pizza. As someone who was in and studied culinary in college and through my 20s, I as the chef would not be proud if that’s how the plates came out. No color on the bass, very bland color, taste was good, but the size screw up should of been noticed when grabbed as the size of the portion is clearly seen and you’ve been serving the food all night. Unseasoned steak is rookie move.
Great service, and a wonderful Valentine's dinner. Really appreciate the quiet atmosphere, only 4 or 5 other couples around, spaced out quite generously. Great ambiance. I will be coming here again.
As always everything was wonderful. The food selection is great. Everything tastes amazing. My steak came out well done when I asked for med rare but when I brought it to their attention they immediately apologized and got the kitchen working to bring me a new plate. they even offered me a free soup while I waited. It came out perfect the second time and my wife is still raving about her salmon. Kats is the best and only “fine dining” restaurant in the DE area.
The service is wonderful. Very attentive. If you weren’t sure about a wine they were kind enough to let you have a sample. Had a wonderful white wine from France. I had the smoked salmon sandwich on a fabulous roll with avocado, horseradish creme fraiche, arugula and cucumbers. A large sandwich- delicious. It cane with house made waffle potato chips. Also had the French mushroom soup. Great take on French onion with various exotic mushrooms. The mushrooms could have been cut up more as they were unite large - too large to fit on a soup spoon. Companion had a crab sandwich- the lumps were falling out of it!! Large portion
We celebrate Valentines Day a couple of days early. We’d heard of but never frequented Krazy Kats. It is a charming restaurant in a historic village north of Wilmington, DE. We enjoyed our meal (crab cake for me, steak for my wife that was undercooked and had to be returned). Wine list is nice and very reasonable. Service was exemplary. A nice place for special occasions, although it is a bit remote.
Food was very good, service was excellent, atmosphere is lovely
It was my first time at Krazy Cats dining room. We dined at 8 pm. Not long after placing our order we were told the oysters we had ordered were now not available. Ok, no problem we thought until they came back and told us the steak entree we had order was no longer available. It was a bit of a disappointment since we had ordered the crab cakes with the steak to make a surf and turf to split. If you’d like a pre dinner drink at the bar just be aware there are only 4 seats available. Overall it’s a nice place with nice food.
We were disappointed by our dinner last Saturday. We have been to Krazy Kat's before, and usually the service and food are what justify the higher prices for us. This time our servers were largely absent and would suddenly appear to inform us (belatedly) of changing menu items or kitchen problems with strange solutions (like halving the steak that two different people ordered when they ran out). Further, the food was for the most part good, with an important exception of a very overcooked and gamy order of bison (that hadn't originally been ordered but had to be substituted when the restaurant ran out of the only other steak entrée). Again, because the servers didn't check in, there wasn't an opportunity to fix the situation by the time the dinner arrived to a very hungry set of diners ninety minutes into dinner. We likely won't be back anytime soon, unfortunately.
We have been going to Krazy Kat's for years and have always had great food and great service. Saturday night we had great food and very inattentive service. We waited a long time between waitress checks. Half of the drinks were served at our table and the other couple sat waiting for another 10 minutes!! Everything took very long, while people at other tables seemed to be getting served in an appropriate time. Very disappointed!
A very attractive dining experience, satisfying in every detail. Both my wife and I enjoyed each dish, the friendly service and the comfortable setting.
We always have extremely high expectations when we plan a dinner at Krazy Kat's. And we are NEVER disappointed! This time we had NY strip and Peking Duck, both cooked to perfection. The pork belly appetizer was delicious, as was the greens salad with apples, pears, walnuts, and blue cheese. As always, servers were friendly and very competent. We weren't celebrating anything special, but an evening at Krazy Kat's always feels special, no matter the occasion.
My friend and I were looking forward to a delicious birthday lunch at Krazy Kats. We had a 1:30 reservation, and we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. That I found strange. When I saw the limited menu, I asked the waitress why there were no entrees. She said there was a new chef. Well, that explained why the place was empty. The menu offerings were what Applebee's or Uno's offered. Driving 45 minutes to eat a pedestrian lunch was such a disappointment! Unless I read that a new chef has been hired, I won't e back. In addition, at 8:45 P.M. I got a call from K.K. to confirm my reservation.
Calling that late is absurd! Shape up, Krazy Kats!!!
It was a good night and good dinner at Crazy Kat's, in Wilmington, DE., for our wedding anniversary this past Saturday. Food and service, along with ambience, were excellent. My only fault finding was that the elegant plates present on the table when we sat down needed a final rinse. These were soon taken away---not from any request by us---in the normal course of service (we were thinking about mentioning it when the take-away occurred). They were, obviously, not meant to be eaten on. We will return in the future. It's
one of the best restaurants in the area.
went to dinner there for my wife's birthday. just what the doctor ordered
Perfect brunch on a rainy Saturday!! Food is ALWAYS great. Waiter was personable, friendly and attentive. Great relaxing atmosphere.
We LOVE this place! 💖
We are local, but often forget about this place as it's off the beaten path. Ate there last weekend as part of a "staycation" over the holiday weekend. Had a lovely meal served at an unhurried pace. Some minor service glitches (we were offered our "amuse bouche" twice, and had to ask for coffee twice) but overall the food was wonderful and the service friendly. Will definitely return.
Excellent service and the best French style omelette!
Sarah was a great server. The $10 lunch combo was delicious and a great value.
Ambiance was very nice, but the food was mediocre as was the service. The staff was nice enough, but not very professional. My companion's $39 strip steak was not flavorful and overcooked. While the duck leg confit was very good, the breast was gross. The fat was not rendered, the skin was not crisp and the meat was overdone and lacked texture. I could not eat it. They offered me a new breast, but by that time I had lost my taste for duck. They offered no other comp, not even a reduction on the bill. I can think of much better places to go for a $100 meal. We have been there many times in the past, but this time it was not worth wile.
I like that fact that Krazy Kats not only has delicious food and a cozy atmosphere but also allows diners to have a leisurely meal, perfect for visiting with friends.
Crab bisque was full of large chunks of crab. Turkey club was just on the dry side but still a good sandwich.
Good food and service.
Eggs were fresh potatoes were delicious. Eggs Benedict with Crab meat was also delicious
Food was good but the small cup of soap was a bit pricey.
The menu is not very imaginative. We would only rate the food has okay. The crab cakes were mostly filler. Maybe they should be removed from the menu in the winter. The short ribs themselves were good, but the sides were lacking. Our server was very nice and tried her best. The restaurant was not as good as we remember it and doubt if we will return any time soon with all the other choices in the area.
This may be the best restaurant anywhere near Philadelphia. The food is superb, the setting pretty and mercifully quiet, the service very good and the values unmatched (Sun-Thur, $35 prix fix three-course dinner and excellent $20 wines!). It is well worth an hours drive or more.
We were surprised to find out when we got there that the only menu available was $100/person prix fixe. Most of the offerings had meat and we are vegetarian. Complimentary chef tasting spoon had lamb. We would have cancelled if we had known in advance. There was no mention of it on their website, where we had gone to look up the menu before we went there.
