Krazy Kat's at The Inn at Montchanin Village Ratings and Reviews
Great little place, awesome atmosphere, friendly staff overall. Menu had a nice selection.
I will go to try lunch or dinner. My husband had the lobster quiche and loved it. My waffle was cold and only so so. My daughter had the stuffed French toast which wasn’t great either.
Hostess, busboy, owner all attentive and friendly, our waitress however needs a lot of grooming, she was not up to the caliber of the place, she was at best a diner waitress. Not rude and not bad just not good. Slow and everything was a bit of a bother and not friendly. Other than that it was a fun little place and we will try it again.
I have been coming to Krazy Kat's for 20 years and have never been disappointed with my meal. We had a wonderful meal here again for a casual date night. Barbara was our server and went above and beyond with her level of service to us. We will definitely be back again for another great meal and bring new friends to try out this amazing restaurant.
Krazy Kats is one of our favorite restaurants on the East Coast. It is in the beautiful village of Montchanin, just outside Wilmington, Delaware. The food is innovative and creative, but always reliably delicious (we have visited many times). In winter especially the soups are not to be missed -- my husband adores the crab bisque and I look forward to the squash soup. The meat and seafood are top quality, and prepared with great care. Try the lamb osso bucco on a cold night -- it is hearty, flavorful, gloriously delicious, and immensely satisfying. The vegetables and sides are always perfectly matched to the meal's focal point. I love the atmosphere and ambiance at Krazy Kats, which is fun and a bit funky while simultaneously warm, inviting, and relaxing. Ask for a table near the fireplace. Excellent bar with hand crafted cocktails.
Since we were there for Christmas evening, there was not a great deal of choice of open restaurants, so we appreciated the fact that they were even open. Nonetheless, we felt they were overpriced for somewhat mediocre food. The rooms were somewhat small, which facilitated quiet conversation. But the ambience was "roadhouse American."
I hadn't been to Krazy Kat's in many years, and I'd only had breakfast there previously, but my recent dinner there was one of the best meals out that I've had in some time. The food was delicious -- everyone at my table enjoyed it greatly. I would definitely recommend a visit to the restaurant. And the Inn at Montchanin itself is lovely.
I come to this restaurant about 4 to 5 times a year and love it . However this time the service was just awful ! Our waitress did not show up so the hostess made our drinks. Hostess never made a kir royale before but it ended up ok. She tried. Waitress finally shows up for our order.
Took food longer than usual to arrive. Restaurant was t that crowded at this point. Food was brought by a very nice aid to waitress. Our waitress never checked to see if our food was ok and did we need another drink or coffee. Finished our meals and wanted coffee and dessert menu but no waitress. Finally waved down another person -got coffee but no spoon to use to stir. Still no waitress until finally we wave her over- by then all we wanted was our check. Forgot dessert at that point. Waitress had to know how annoyed we were but no apologies !
I will return because it is a nice restaurant, small and quiet and very good food. But more thought needs to be given to this server/waitress. I believe her name was Emily not sure on that.
Would appreciate if this review go ONLY to restaurant manager.
Disappointed with this visit , first time for brunch , when making reservations requested main dining room which was not honored . Side dining room very noisy and not as comfortable . Service not consistent , had 3-4 servers during our meal . When muffins were brought to table only provided 2 muffins and we were a party of 3 . When asking about the ingredients of a particular drink , server said she didn’t know , I than asked her if she could go find out for me , she’d didnt appear that she was going to ask until I spoked up . I have been to KK’s in past for dinner and lunch in past and each time was enjoyable but this visit was not at all enjoyable and I had brought guest this time based on past visits .
We dined there during the Holiday season, and as a result our service was tediously slow. They didn't explain this to us until we commented on whether we would ever get out lunches. we had been there before when service wasn't an issue so we would go again. just not at Christmas time.
Hidden away, this restaurant is worth the effort. They have a ten dollar lunch special that is not to be missed. The crab melt is delicious as are the soups. Dinner and brunch are fabulous. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are very reasonable.
Celebrated a special birthday. The Phyllo short rib and beet salad were perfect starters. Both were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The entrees came in full and half portions which made it easy not to overeat. The venison was delicious, not gamey, and appropriately seasoned. The stroganoff was moist and flavorful. The service was impeccable. Wish we lived closer!! We would dine there often!!
We dined at Krazy Kats prior to seeing a show in Wilmington. I hadn’t been here in years but I’m so glad we came back. The ambiance is so fun, our server was lovely and attentive and the food was excellent. Be sure to inquire about the pre fixe menu. It was just the right amount of food for us and we loved the Chardonnay selection that it offered as well.
We discovered Krazy Kats a number of years ago, it remains one of, in our opinion, one of the top five restaurants in the North Eastern states. Our travels take us to DC regularly and this is a short trip off of I 95 for a most enjoyable repast. We have never been disappointed with Krazy Kate's in anything that they offer.
