OpenTable Diner (New York Area)

I met an old friend I hadn't seen in years and we talked for an hour before even opening the menu.. Our wait person couldn't have been more gracious just occasionally stopping by and filling out water. Amazing! We had some miso soup followed by a large salad with avocado and then shared the salmon teriyaki and steamed cod fish. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. The ambience was festive but not loud and even the lighting was just right. It simply could not have been better!

Perhaps my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Good decor, always quiet enough to allow for easy conversation among diners, excellent service, consistently good Japanese-style food including fresh and tasty sushi and sashimi.

The Bento lunch special offers a lot of choices for a lunch with several components, including, e.g., grilled salmon with tasty sauce and a sushi roll. Fast, efficient, and friendly service.

Really liked Kouzan. Standouts among what we had: passion fruit tuna carpaccio, roasted honey duck, shishamo, and saikyo yaki. Also really good: green tea tiramisu. Will definitely go back.

Standard fare. Does not distinguish itself from sushi prepared in Chinese takeout

Kouzan is always reliable -- a pleasant, conversation-friendly place to have good Japanese food. The sushi is always fresh, and the other dishes are carefully prepared. The tempura, especially, is perfectly crisp and grease-free. The waitstaff is always friendly and efficient. Great neighborhood place.
