Been here before - will continue to keep going. Pretty much everything one would expect a taverna to be.
Service was friendly and attentive even though we were sat near a big group. Food was delicious except the Moussaka could have been hotter. Overall enjoyed very much. Greek potatoes were to die for!
This was the 2nd time in the past month that we had gone here for dinner. The last time...my friend & I had had the Lamb Chops. They were to die for. Cooked perfectly medium rare like we ordered... AWESOME. SOOOO feeling like some more nice Lamb, we went back last Friday night and I ordered the Lamb Chops again, while my friend ordered the Pork Ribs. HOWEVER this time, we were sooo disappointed. Again, I had ordered my Lamb Chops cooked Medium Rare and they came WELL DONE, DRY and TOUGH. This is the first time that I have ever let Lamb uneaten on my plate. My Friends Ribs were also dry and tasteless.
Our waiter tried his best to atone by bringing us a free dessert... BUT, you know what?... we did not want a dessert. When we go out for dinner, expecting a good meal, like we know can be produced here... and don't get it.... it really turned us off. It will be doubtful if we will be back again at this place anytime soon.
I have been here several times, so thought it would be great to introduce my family to it. We were there for 3 hours (mainly because after desert we never saw a waiter again and a bill was never brought). I those 3 hours I had no clue who our waiter actually was, pop and coffee was never refilled and no one was asked if they wanted a scone glass of wine....many of us ordered the mere, and no one else hAd been there before, each dish was dropped off with zero explanation of what it was. I am so embarrassed that I recommended this restaurant to my family
This was our first visit and will not be our last. The building is a sorta non-descript... have drove past in for years and never went there. My friend and I had the Lamb Chops, They were absolutely awesome... when we go back there again, will repeat it. Had 5 Lamb chops and they were soooo tender and the mint sauce was to die for. Had a very reasonable price Wolf Blass Chardonnay.
Very lively atmosphere, complete with belly dancer! The service was superb and the food was tasty. The Greek ribs could have used more seasoning and lemon. Generous portions.
My wife and I went here for her birthday, we really enjoyed the meze, love the selection and pace of the meal. The food at Koutouki is as good as its always been, the portions are somewhat smaller but the same great quality and taste.
We ordered the Koutouki Meze and a decent wine. The food was great until the lamb came which was almost inedible. What meat there was; was tough and full of gristle and fat. Unfortunately the poor quality of the lamb dish downgraded our rating of the entire meal. We know our lamb and how it should be served. Too bad. The restaurant was very quiet as there were very few patrons on a Saturday night. We were early by an hour for our reservation and they easily accommodated us.
Had a fantastic meal. Waiter was awesome. Very helpful and knowledgable with the questions we had for him. Food was amazing. Dining area could use some touch ups but it kind of added to the ambiance. Will definitely go back!!
We enjoyed a variety of authentic Greek food, excellent service, and ambiance like being on Mykonos.
Not the most beautiful looking restaurant and not the most modern decor but the food was absolutely fantastic and so was the service! I will be returning
I took my 90 year old Mom out for supper. The food was delicious yet not too spicy for her. The shrimp were divine as promised.
The waiter kindly sought out a chair with arms so Mom could get back up once she had eaten.
The restaurant is very nicely decorated in a Greek theme. It looks just like a Greek restaurant on Greek island.
We ordered grilled Calamari and when it came, we were thrilled with the taste. It was to die for.
My girlfriend had huge shrimp, that looked great and a salad, that also looked great. I ordered a rack of lamb, which didn't look anything like the picture and was, well done. I asked the waiter why it was well done (rack of lamb is always, in my experience, served medium rare or medium) and he said it was because it was baked "and maybe it was in too long". Because it was well done, it was not tender. In addition, the taste was bland. My girlfriends huge shrimp, again, looked great but they too, were bland. Suffice it to say, the place was nice to be in but the food was very average (except for the delicious grilled calamari).
Hadn't been here in a few years, so my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our one year anniversary here. I booked a table on Open Table with a note that requested to sit outside because I hadn't sat on the patio yet and I'd heard it was cute at night with lots of twinkling lights. The hostess brought us to a table inside at first so we asked to sit outside, which seemed to cause some confusion for the servers out there and no one came to take our order for about 10 minutes. The patio was not as nice as I had expected. It really needs new furniture and definitely more lights strung up to create a better ambiance. Compared to the cozy decor inside, the patio is severely lacking. The food was fast and good, although my rack of lamb was a bit dry. After that initial hiccup, the service was great. The belly dancer was fun entertainment as always.
We love Koutouki and have been many times. We always get the Meza Greek sampler plater.
We went for a celebration dinner. It was a great evening - this was helped by excellent food and service. We should go there more often!
We sat outside on the patio which was lovely in the evening, partially shaded. Our server was also the bartender that night and she discouraged us from ordering cocktails as she wasn't comfortable making them. The food was as good as always and her service was good, without complaint. We will go again.
The food was good as always, but the service was rushed. Entrees arrived before appetizers were finished. Our server was asking about dessert before my friend had finished his entree. The bill was offered while still eating dessert. And once the bill was paid, we never saw our server again, when I would have liked more water. It was a pretty slow night, so no need to get us out the door.
We ordered the Meze which started out well. The pita bread was hot and delicious, the sauces were good but the meal declined from there. The Greek salad had way too much feta, the meatballs and rice in grape leaves were tasteless and the chicken thighs and lamb were cold. The chicken had little flavor and both the chicken and lamb were overcooked. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant and the service was great but that is as far as I would go. Overall I did not enjoy the meal and would not recommend or return. Not worth $38.00 per person!
Meze took way too long, 2.5 hours! The timing between courses was inconsistent and there was no explanation or apology on why it was taking so long. Food was mediocre.
my dad is Greek and we always go to the 124 St location or the one right by the U of A. Whoever runs/owns this south location cannot be the same family. They're absolutely awful the food was terrible, I know my Greek food and trust me this place has forgotten what Koutouki is all about. Very sad to take what a great man has built and let it go. From what I've heard Theo might be running it? If so he needs to reevaluate why his father put him in charge, not to ruin it but to make your families name continue on and with the service and sub par food you're doing a terrible job. Sorry but it's how I feel.
Amazing service from Nicholas. Everyone had a great time!
Slow service, wrong orders, and the food was overcooked. Lamb skewers were rock hard, exchanged for chicken skewers that were much better. Music was way too loud that I couldn't even hear myself talk. Wish i had a better experience
The food was awful. The service was lacking, I have had better hummus from the grocery store.
My lamb was overcooked, dry and tasteles and the potatoes were so sour no one could eat them. The Rice would have been nice if it was cooked and not cold.
The only thing i like was the company, the wine, and the Belly Dancer!
We've loved coming here as often as we can for dinner with friends and family. The music and decorations you experience when you first walk through the door feels like you're no longer in Edmonton when you sit to eat. The food has always been great and the servers always pay attention and tend to you often enough, yet it's not overbearing. The last visit was for my wife's birthday dinner and our server Nicholas played birthday songs through the stereo, sang Happy Birthday along with us and brought a slice of cheesecake with a candle for my wife's dessert. Yet another fun and unique experience at Koutouki!
We took our Mom for her 74th birthday! Our server was fantastic, the food was delicious, and the bellydancing was great entertainment. Overall a great experience.
Food was not great. If I hadn't ordered calamari, I would have thought it was a plate of batter. Waiter was incredibly rude at the end.
I was there with a friend on a sunday evening, it was very nice, not too busy or noisy at all. The food was great! everything we ordered was wonderful and more than sufficient. The service was efficient and we felt taken our server was knowledgeable and well mannered. We ordered an assortment of dishes and shared Tapas style, they were very accommodating and the food was all fresh and hot when it arrived to the table.
I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
Dinner was lovely but really made the experience great was our server. He was very attentive and personable. He made great recomendations and the meals turned out fabulous! I will be back.
Food was not very good (Rack of lamb especially poor, ordered MR, came well) All the appetizers were good. The servers made it a great night and Belly Dancer was so muc fun , our guests enjoyed it.
