Kotta Sushi Lounge - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Got stuck on the end of a bar next to the silverware and napkin folding end of the table so the whole time I had someone to my right messing with silverware. Hardly a “romantic” date for valentines. Also made this reservation weeks in advance, and I’m not one to complain whatsoever. Never felt the need to leave a review besides now. Just don’t seat people there makes for an awful experience when you have plenty of other open tables and people are paying this much for their food.
We had a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday night but probably didn't need it, although there was a wait by the time we left around 8:30. Our server was very attentive without being overbearing, checking in plenty of times. The food here is always very good and at pretty good prices. We had wine and cocktails, and about 6 sushi rolls for the 4 of us which was the perfect amount. Everything tastes fresh and we will definitely keep going back!
They do have a kids' menu with American food as well as a separate menu for hot food like teriyaki dishes and noodles but we haven't ever ordered from them.
The restaurant was nice, clean and vibrant when we went in. The service was excellent, however the food was sub-par. The menu featured lots of dishes, which is nice if you don't eat Sushi. My husband and I do eat sushi and this rating is simply about the sushi. It did not seem fresh, the portions were OK. The salmon was chewy and the rolls were all in a sauce of some sort. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. We did not let them know we did not think the dinner was good, as we ate most of it. Later that evening, both my husband and I were not feeling well, I am not convinced that it was the restaurant, however we left there feeling like we would not return, at least not for sushi given the lack of fresh tasting fish.
I had salmon sashimi, ikura sushi, and a roll that did not have rice - happy salmon. I also had the scallop sushi - which was I am sad to say terrible. I think they added dill to the mayo mix and it did not go well in a Japanese sushi roll. The happy salmon was just OK, it had minced up crab (or could have been salmon) inside and salmon pieces outside and was in some sort of ponzu sauce. Not the best. My husband ordered 2 rolls, both spicy in nature. One was not great, and the other was so-so. We also ordered seaweed salad and edamame as an app. They came out after the sushi started coming to the table, so we felt a bit rushed. The seaweed salad was good! The edamame was just fine, salty but not too much. So for apps we were OK, but the timing was off. I had a glass of wine, a red blend (I know does not go with Sushi - but what the hay)... and my husband ordered an Asahi.
In looking around the restaurant, it had a nice vibe. I was happy to see a family of 4 next to us with 2 small children. Very family friendly, I was happy to see one of the little kiddos having fried rice and also a grilled cheese. I know if we come back as a family, our little one will be able to eat and enjoy himself.
Eaten here a few times. Good is great. Service is consistently questionable. Not horrible, but never good. Could really be a great place if they could get their service in order. Food timing is horrible. Drinks are forgotten. They always seem to be apologizing. Management should up their game.
Our server was awful from the beginning to the end. Never caught her name. Never smiled, I’m assuming she was ‘in the weeds’ all night but i think she forgot that she is working and we are the customers and not some inconvenience.... for us coming to celebrate my boyfriend birthday it was very poor and if it weren’t for the manager honoring the $20 off entree dinner we would have left...
Literally perfect. Went off of a friend's recommendation for a birthday. Food was pretty good, but too be honest, what stuck out the most was the service. Table was all ready as requested with no wait. Server was attentive and friendly, helpful and accurate without being annoying. Owners came over to say hi. Then after it was all said and done, the bill was MUCH lower than we expected. 5 stars all around.
The food was absolutely delicious. My favorites are the TDF rolls, volcano rolls and their fried rice. They also have a great lunch special during the weekdays. Great hangout spot for having a cocktail or two. Nick the bartender is awesome, he makes the best drinks ever. Overall, it's a great place to hangout and enjoy some food and drinks.
I picked this place for my birthday (had dined here once before) and it was absolutely wonderful. They confirmed our large reservation twice and were ready when we showed up. And our server Maddie was Friendly and helpful the whole time. Bonus: she even brought out my sushi order with a lit candle. It was a wonderful experience.
The restaurant was great service was great the food was fresh and wonderful, would recommend this place and will for sure go back again and again great sushi choices and the menu also has choices and what's on them so you know ahead of ordering food. Manager came by and checked on us during dinner and was so nice.
I have been to Kotta's multiple times. The server must have been new because she forgot our drink order, she couldnt remember our food order and then didnt remember who at the table had paid so she didnt know who to give the credit card back to amongst the two to of us.
Another great meal at Kotta. I had Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had Kotta Yaki Noodle. Both were fresh and delicious. Not to miss out on sushi we had orders of unagi, salmon, and super white tuna., which were all excellent. Our reservation was for 7:45pm with a request for a booth. We were promptly seated in a booth. The noise level was high when we first entered but after being seated, it was still easy to carry a conversation. We will be returning.
