Kotta Sushi Lounge - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Our server was awful from the beginning to the end. Never caught her name. Never smiled, I’m assuming she was ‘in the weeds’ all night but i think she forgot that she is working and we are the customers and not some inconvenience.... for us coming to celebrate my boyfriend birthday it was very poor and if it weren’t for the manager honoring the $20 off entree dinner we would have left...
Literally perfect. Went off of a friend's recommendation for a birthday. Food was pretty good, but too be honest, what stuck out the most was the service. Table was all ready as requested with no wait. Server was attentive and friendly, helpful and accurate without being annoying. Owners came over to say hi. Then after it was all said and done, the bill was MUCH lower than we expected. 5 stars all around.
The food was absolutely delicious. My favorites are the TDF rolls, volcano rolls and their fried rice. They also have a great lunch special during the weekdays. Great hangout spot for having a cocktail or two. Nick the bartender is awesome, he makes the best drinks ever. Overall, it's a great place to hangout and enjoy some food and drinks.
I picked this place for my birthday (had dined here once before) and it was absolutely wonderful. They confirmed our large reservation twice and were ready when we showed up. And our server Maddie was Friendly and helpful the whole time. Bonus: she even brought out my sushi order with a lit candle. It was a wonderful experience.
The restaurant was great service was great the food was fresh and wonderful, would recommend this place and will for sure go back again and again great sushi choices and the menu also has choices and what's on them so you know ahead of ordering food. Manager came by and checked on us during dinner and was so nice.
I have been to Kotta's multiple times. The server must have been new because she forgot our drink order, she couldnt remember our food order and then didnt remember who at the table had paid so she didnt know who to give the credit card back to amongst the two to of us.
Another great meal at Kotta. I had Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had Kotta Yaki Noodle. Both were fresh and delicious. Not to miss out on sushi we had orders of unagi, salmon, and super white tuna., which were all excellent. Our reservation was for 7:45pm with a request for a booth. We were promptly seated in a booth. The noise level was high when we first entered but after being seated, it was still easy to carry a conversation. We will be returning.
Food is always fresh and excellent. Seated quickly and they were able to accommodate us at a larger table. We originally thought there would be 3 but there were 5 of us. Love the Sashimi platter. The seaweed salad with the seafood is an excellent appetizer.
First time to Kotta Sushi and they did not disappoint. Food was fresh, tasty (Caterpillar roll is great!) and the service was excellent. The owner or general manager came by at the end of our dinner and thanked us which was a very nice touch. Will definitely be back.
Love Kotta Sushi... been going there for years! Only complaint is that when dining with a reservation, it would be my hope that those patrons would receive preferred tables and not the tables right when you walk in. Those tables are noisy and uncomfortable. And should never be given to someone who has taken the time to reserve a spot in the establishment.
Unfortunately, it seems very recently they have become very insistent about seating my wife and I at what I consider to be the two worst 2-tops in the restaurant (the ones next to the short fence). This despite a special request to be seated at a booth! I expect most restaurants at this price point to read the request and either accommodate it, or mention that they are unable to do so. My wife and I have been coming to Kotta's at least once per week for almost a decade, and we'll keep coming back as long as we continue to be happy with the food and the service. Hopefully, training will be provided to the hostesses' desk to read the special request section and to try to make accommodations.
We have eaten at Kotta many times and its one of the best places for Sushi in DFW, however we had really poor service on Saturday night. The server completely forgot to put one of my friends entire order in and he did not receive any food. When we handed her the papers with our sushi orders on them, she specifically read off his food too, but for some reason it never got put itn! The server was very apologetic, however the server didnt offer to go check the kitchen or even offer to put the food order in with the kitchen immediately. She only offered if he wanted anything hot to eat and gave him a free drink, which we thought was a bit strange. Fortunately his wife ordered too much food so he ate some of hers
Reservations do not mean they will have a table ready. Wait time *with* a reservation is still upward of 20-30 minutes. Annoying that making a reservation here is basically reserving the right to wait, instead of being turned away or told 1.5+ hour wait. Food is great, but the overbooking issue and waiting a good amount of time with a reservation makes it almost not worth going.
Kotta is a family favorite. The food is always fantastic and the service is excellent. I'm also always happy to get out of a nicer restaurant with a full meal (including dessert) for only a little over $50 for two people. It's not a cheap place, but great value for the quality and service!
