KONE Restaurant Seafood & Grill Ratings and Reviews
The waiter was more concerned with a tables of drunken ladies then with my party. Certain dishes on the menu were not available because the stopped frying food. I order the New York strip medium. When it arrived, it was medium rare and had lots of fat. The waiter tried to argue me down that the steak was medium. The rest of my party ordered salmon and the $90 plate of seafood which came back raw as well. We were there celebrating a friends birthday. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
The attention paid by Marcello the owner was the gravy on the top of a lovely meal. We are Miami Beach residents and we had a nice chat about the construction of Espanola (which was causing quite a bit of dust at the time at outdoor seating but should have been initially paved by now) and doing business in Miami Beach, which is always upgrading but always under construction! He gave us after-dinner drinks, a nice touch. Our food was very enjoyable and reasonably priced for being able to sit outside on a beautiful street like Espanola Way (which doesn't have a great rep among locals for food, so this is a great find. Our visitor loved it.). One of us had the Penne Pesto (with both chicken and shrimp, the best bargain at $18.50) , another had shrimp risotto and the last had salmon risotto. The risotto was PERFECTLY cooked. All delicious and even tho none of us had an appetizer, two of us took some leftovers home. Our server Nathalia was excellent. We share a bottle of Albarino, very good. We will be happy to return.
Great dining experience on Espanola Way in Miami Beach. Great cocktails, food and service. This definitely warrants a repeat performance the next time we are in Miami Beach. The complimentary Bailey's after dinner was an exceptionally nice way to end an evening.
We were hoping for a better experience but we were disappointed with some of the food. The grilled red snapper was very good but not fantastic. The paella was the big disappointment. Naturally, good paella takes time to make and is worth the wait. Not so much in this case. The seafood had the taste of bleach or other preservation agent and was just nasty. Big disappointment for us that can only get this dish when visiting South Beach. Service was very good and friendly. The street in front was being redone and may have contributed to us being the only occupants on Friday night at 7:30.
While visiting South Beach, we searched for a local restaurant with seafood and Kone showed up and was within walking distance. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to see a street full of various restaurants. We went onto Kone, sat inside. I wasn't thrilled with the ambiance, so elected to only order an appetizer and drink before committing to a full meal. Ordered onion rings -- they arrived overdone, clearly from the freezer rings -- not at all fresh. So with that we graciously paid our bill and moved next door to an amazing, freshly prepared, seafood meal. Sorry, Kone -- but you need to freshen up the food. I hope that you do, as the staff was pleasant and deserves a great place to work. There's a lot of competition on your street and frozen rings won't win people back to your place.
The video screen was a nice touch. It kept my teens occupied and was a catalyst for conversation with them. The screen and music wasn't overpowering, however. So, for families or partners, the surroundings were good. Food was fresh and good...and little slow but worth the wait. Staff was courteous and attentive, seem to function as a team. Will definitely revisit.
Good first: server was friendly, eel roll was delicious, no wait to be seated. Not so good: there was only one waitress, so a little slow. It was still early, so I can imagine it was worse later. I had the seafood linguine in white wine sauce. While there was nothing really wrong with it, it was lacking seasoning to me. I think they either forgot the garlic or were too light on it. My husband had the skirt steak and it was similar, not much flavor. The ambience was also lacking. Ther are videos playing on the wall, nothing to my taste and rather loud. There were no people at the bar and the bartender looked rather bored. Again, maybe it picks up later, but I kind of doubt it.
Outside seating is very nice and Espinola Way is a gorgeous area! The service is pretty quick and the servers are helpful as always! I had got sushi there and my girlfriend got mussels and clams and it was amazing. The portion was big and the amount of mussels in the dish was perfect and not under served! Sushi was fresh and tasty!
We ordered the seafood chef's special. Seems to be good value for the price. Large lobster tail, grilled shrimp, scallops, and 2 large pieces of fish. We choose the snapper and grouper. Both were prepared as requested, medium. We got there in time for happy hour - 2 drinks for price of 1.
Disappointing food, fair service. Off season staff? We ordered the most expensive bottle of wine on the list but had to send it back because it was so awful. I ordered jumbo shrimp but they were medium at best. My dining companions' food wasn't much better. Many other restaurants on this strip were packed; we should have gone to one of them.
I read the reviews of previous diners and felt KONE would be a good choice. We live in Chicago so we are no stranger to good food, served well and in an atmosphere that is interesting. There is no ambiance, we only stayed for a drink and felt like we had to whisper. There is no music, it was a warm night and the front doors were open so it was really warm in the restaurant. We felt as though were in the doctors office waiting room.
It started raining when we arrived so we had to eat inside instead of the usually lively street, but the food was delicious! The service was good, just distracted by the sudden downpour that almost threatened to flood the restaurant. The place is small and intimate. Great for a casual, quiet, relaxing, or romantic meal.
My husband, myself, and my sister in law ad her husband made dinner reservations here for my birthday- via Groupon. The deal was awesome! We enjoyed our appetizer which was fried calamari with a spicy marinara sauce. Our food was AMAZING! I had the classic lasagna and it was amazing - there was a cream sauce that covered the dish and it was delicious. One had a pesto pasta that she said was good and my husband and bro in law had fish- which they said was amazing! When we walked up we were greeted and because we had made reservations they had reserved a spot for us outside/indoor (they weren't real sure of where we would want to sit) I thought that was really nice. Nice staff and really romantic & quiet environment.
Located toward the end of Espanola Way, an adorable tourist area to mimic a sort of lil Spain feel, this outdoor restaurant gives you a little bit of everything. Choices of steak, seafood, sushi and more. My husband enjoyed his steak and my tempura sushi roll was delightful. One downfall includes an abbreviated drink menu. Beer, wine and limited liquor was a little bit of a bummer but I settled on a red sangria and was pleased.
Restaurant was a recommendation of hotel concierge. Located on a street with several other restaurants that is closed to traffic in the evening. You make your way through the host/hostess street hustling of diners to the restaurant. Nothing to really distinguish the sidewalk dining from other restaurants. The menu features seafood, sushi etc. The mojitos we had pre-dinner were excellent. The fish I ordered was overcooked & mashed potatos were pedestrian. However my dining companion's thought his dinner of seafood combination was very good. There are many restaurants choices & we had other meals elsewhere that were better. I noted one of the diners next to us asked for a whiskey & the restaurant did not have.
Excellent appetizers of edamame and calamari. Caesar salad with grilled chicken with good taste, although dressing seemed excessive. Enjoyed the Rainbow Roll sushi dinner and would have preferred more distinctive flavors from each piece. Hostess knew I reserved with Open Table and knew my name before I introduced myself - nice touch.
