Kona Jack's Fish Market & Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
It was fantastic from start to finish! They had a wonderful Valentines menu, which was delicious, and our server Sindi was outstanding. We were unfortunately late, and stayed after the closing time but they never rushed us and made our evening very special. We will definitely be back.
Excellent waiter... made the experience very good. Prices were a bit high for the quality of Sushi we had, but we would return. Several of the Sushi rolls we had with our group were deconstructed. Very interesting way to serve the dish. Hoosier roll and Spyder rolls were our favorites. Plum wine was $29 for a bottle... it’s a $6.50 per bottle wine. Good, but overpriced. We’d return though.
Seafood lovers: get in your car now and drive to Kona Jack’s! You won’t be disappointed! Absolutely delicious! Each dish was creative, flavorful, unique, and filling! I especially loved the lalo miso soup: their take on the classic miso soup. It was inspired. I could go back just for that. It is a must-order. The herb bread they serve with macadamia nut butter is to die for. With the combination of the butter it is like pesto in bread form. Definitely get the lemon glaze cake for dessert! It is unassuming at first, but at first bite, you will taste such sweet, moist cake that will widen your eyes and curve your lips into the biggest smile. The service was absolutely extraordinary! Our server was patient, knowledgeable, responsive, and had absolutely perfect timing with check-ins and refills. The only things I’d say that were the slightest negative is the pot stickers were just a tiny bit over-fried and some of the fountain drinks were slightly flat. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes seafood!!
Kona Jack's is one of my favorite place to go. Their clam chowder is the best I have found in Indy. Service is always quick, easy to work with and very accommodating. Whether you are having a night out with the someone special or have a crowed of friends, Kona Jacks is a great place to go.
I love love love the food here, and the cocktails are nice too. They have a diverse menu (assuming you like seafood) and the sushi rolls are inventive and tasty. My only complaint is the service on our last 2 visits has been very slow. We have to ask for refills/bread more than once and it takes a long time to place orders. I think the servers may have too many tables? On our visit this weekend servers repeatedly walk through the dinning room complaining about their tables.
I like that it's family friendly - it's a great place to get my sushi fix with a toddler in tow. My only growing concern in recommending this place to friends is the service.
We’ve never had a bad meal here - and probably never will. Having said that, it’s just not great food anymore. Every portion of the dinner seems pedestrian - save maybe the sushi roll.
We’ll continue to go I suppose as most of the alternatives are mediocre.
It was a busy Saturday night so the service was the only thing that we gave 4 stars. The large Sushi Combo plate was excellent, very fresh, and the Seafood Fettuccini was wonderful. We had to remind our server to bring us bread (which was the best we've had at Amy restaurant ever) and it took quite a while for that and our meals to arrive. In the end, all worth the wait and the tip didn't suffer.
Always good food and service. Marty and Jason were working the Sushi Bar. They both kept an eye on us and we never needed to ask for anything. The Calamari is as good as anywhere I have ever had. We had sushi for dinner and it was beautiful and delicious. I will be back often!
I dine here often. I usually have the Fresh Fish Special or Pasta Rustica a favorite. This evening I had Pasta Rustica and I must say this was the very BEST version I have ever had. It was outstanding. The sauce had excellent flavor, and covered the Pasta completely, the seafood was cooked perfectly. As always the salad was fresh and crisp, and the bread warm, crisp and fresh. My spouse enjoyed his Fish and Chips which is another of our favorites. The breading is tasty as well as not overpowering the flavor of the fish. Our service was excellent, thanks to Lisa. I credited my Pasta Rustica dish to Marcell.
We love this place and had one of our favorite servers, Lisa. Wife always gets the fish and chips (sweet potato fries). Good selection of steaks, seafood and sushi. The specials are usually very good as well. Generally speaking Kona Jacks has an excellent wait staff. Always great and attentive. We come here at least twice a month and eat out about 8-10 times a month.
We were seated right away, though our table was pretty small for a party of four. Our appetizers, Black & Blue Nachos and Cajun Scallops, were very tasty. Service was attentive but not overbearing. All of our entrees were delicious! We'll definitely be back!
We really wanted to like this restaurant. Their chowder was outstanding. But the entrees were so-so. The sea bass was over sauced, the crunchy grouper was just ok. Portions are big and prices are a great value. But as a much as we prefer to eat local over chains, Bonefish Grill is much better on food and atmosphere. Apres Jacks music room is a treat, but has limited seating, so get there early.
