I ordered the fish of the day, 25 dollars, with the veg of the day, garlic zucchini. My husband had the NY strip, with mashed potatoes and the garlic zucchini. It all sat under the lamps too long. A manager came and got me fresh rice because it had dried out. My piece of fish needed to be cut, too dry to fork apart and too dark on the back-papery. I tore it to pieces, doused it in lemon I ordered, and mixed it into the new rice to eat it. Couldn’t because my butter knife was all I had and it was dirty, never got a new one. So was the inside of my napkin. Couldn’t taste zucchini or garlic. Only the red pepper flack it was covered in. Husband ordered the steak medium, it came well. Potato’s were dry and crusty from the heat lamp. Same issue with the zucchini. He had a Macallan 12 year on the rocks. I a sprite. Slow dissatisfying meal and cost 81. And change before tip. This was the second chance. Nothing was spoiled but I’m not going back for a third. To be fair we didn’t bother complaining this time. I hate doing it.
Enjoyed combo of happy hour menu and regular. All delicious and wellspaced by our attentive and helpful waiter Sam.
This is return visit, but first in ""patio/bar" area.nice!
Chili shrimp salad, sushi rolls, Satay, Flatbread, Miso soup and more.
It was busy and they could not keep up. It was not completely full, so it was not good. Some of my food was cold, and my server could not be found, so another server helped me. Soda was flat and I was told there was nothing that could be done other than order something else. The appetizer I ordered was not available. Another appetizer that was from the sushi chef would take longer than our main order because they were busy, so I couldn't have that either. The whole meal was just a disaster. I probably will not go there anymore. Also, they keep taking items off of the menu that I like. They also cannot accommodate my onion and garlic allergy. Everything is prepared ahead of time, and the chef cannot even make fried rice without onions! The service was very slow.
I visited Kona grill for the first time ever on 3/3/18. I’m sooo happy I made a reservation!! They were super packed. As a result it took someone a little over 15mins to greet us. Katrina ended up being our server (It wasn’t her section but she still assisted us and was so sweet!!)
Over all the food was good but our dessert was not. I heard so many great things about their butter cake. When it came it tasted like cold corn bread :(
Everything we had was delicious. If you like sushi with a kick then you have to try the Picasso roll.
I had noted with my reservation that this was dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday and had requested the staff sing Happy Birthday. We ordered dessert thinking the staff would bring her dessert with a candle and sing but nothing happened. I was disappointed.
I love Kona Grill! Always talk very highly about this place. I only go there for very special occasions. Yesterday February 22nd I made reservations for my wedding. I was super excited only to feel disappointed. Some of the party was late and the waitress kept pushing us to cancel. Finally we all made it! The waitress forgot drinks was very inattentive and would often forget when we requested for refill or we asked for more of a sauce etc. The food was not as good as it usually is. Made me very sad. I understand we were a big party but it wasn’t the first time we have been there with a super big party. I felt like everything was off beginning with the service the food and including one of the deserts someone had received. I hope that it was just that we all had an off day and not that it’s not going well.
Excellent food selection. Sushi bar. Creative rolls and a nice selection of standard America fare with the “Kona”
Always a wonderful experience with friendly attentive staff, delectable food and good energy. Had the miso-sake sea bass and always delicious.
Excellent experience but a bit pricey. The carrot cake was excellent and big and worth every penny!
My server Franco was amazing. At first glance I was taken aback by the menu and worried about what to choose. He carefully went over the menu with us and in the end made perfect choice of the Salmon which is truly tasty! Will be going back!
Went on Tuesday (the day before Valentines Day) to get the date night offer, but it wasn’t offered. They had a “Valentines Day” listing with some different options for dinner but none of them sparked any interest for the price. We stayed anyway.
I don’t think they read any “special occasions” listed when you make a reservation on open table, as they didn’t even ask for my name when I arrived.
They must have had an issue with their soft drink machine as regular soda tasted like diet or zero calorie. The calamari was chewy. The tomato basil bisque tasted like pure pepper which makes me question if it was fresh or not. The filet, while cooked correctly, lacked in seasoning. The poke bowl was the same as last time.
Our server, Farley, was wonderful and attentive. I wish I could say the same about the food as this was the first bad experience we had. This is normally our go-to date night spot, but no longer.
Thankfully I had a $10 gift card and a free appetizer... otherwise I would have needed to speak to a manager.
Brittany was an excellent waitress. She was very patient and attentive to our needs.
Was our first time to Kona Grill. While the staff was pleasant and attentive, the wait time for drinks, appetizers and main courses were long and the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. The food itself was just OK. The appetizer shrimp, while flavorful, were very tiny. The main courses were decent but most disappointing were the desserts. The brownie was dry and the butter cake was not the least bit buttery but more like microwaved cornbread.
Again, the staff was pleasant and tried to manage expectations but doubt we would return.
A great choice for a business lunch with tables at a discreet distance. Attentive professional service without interrupting conversation. Enjoyable meal.
Good, but our apps and Entrées came out the same time. Poor timing but the food was great!
Service was nice and accommodating. Drinks were weak and sugary. Food was good.
Great food, drinks and ambiance.
We had a great experience! I tell people to try Kona, good sushi and I work in NYC! Good service enjoyed my time there!
Nice Saturday night dinner. We enjoyed the food... I really liked the Oriental Salad and Macadamia nut chicken. Service was a little off I think due to a large birthday party in our section but our server was still very nice, just a little busy. Would definitely go again.
I have not been to this restaurant in quite some time and I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything is as good as it was before if not better. The service was excellent and the food is excellent and I would highly recommend going to Kona.
Food very good, service above and beyond...
Great food and great service !
Great happy hour! There’s a decent amount to choose from and it’s a good value.
Over cooked burger ordered medium came out very well done - hockey puck. Unacceptable
Interesting menu with something for everybody. Sushi is available as well as lots of other choices with the full menu. My wife isn't big on sushi so it worked out perfectly.
My waitress Dee Dee is the best! I ask for her table. The food, excellent. The ambiance is worth rushing to after work, or before a good of movie.
Food took a long time we had a reservation table ready quickly but after we order we waited 45 minutes to get the appetizers.
Not a good experience I wouldn’t recommend.
Have eaten here 100 times. Sushi seemed to be a little sub par compared to what I am used to from this Kona location. They also took my favorite wine off menu. oh well. Appetizers were fantastic as always and all other meals great
Exceptionally good food and very nice place for celebrating a special occasion. Service was excellent though slow. Waiter was willing to do separate checks for group of 11 and very pleasant about it. Management provided a generous tray of desserts to mark the occasion. Highly recommended overall.
The service was amazing! Even though the restaurant was super busy at 9:30pm,my reservation was honored. And i didnt have to wait!!Food was very flavorful.
Great food as usual. My wife loves the stir fry and I really like the salmon. Another great Anniversary meal.
Very attractive decor , above-average food, and fair to good service make this a place I would visit again. I love that the menu has an Asian bent to it, yet it is kid friendly too (my son is the burger or pizza kid who usually nixes most of our choices). All food we tried was fresh and yummy, however one small kink was that my husbands stir fry portion was very small, so he had to order some sushi afterwards. The bar area was really nice so next time I would stop in to eat or drink there for a different vibe. Overall, casual, local spot that I am going to add to my family-night out list for sure.
Happy hour menu is great and inexpensive. Perfect light dinner.
As usual the food was very good.
My one complaint is that the menu has consistently gotten with less variety.
Also the prices have risen.
Service was also very good.
Self Seating was a little weird. Service was slow. Our server was a step behind us at all times. Bar drinks took a long time and weren't as described on the cocktail list. Ordered a Cucumber Southside , that had no cucumber or mint and was basically just club soda. Food was great! Yellowtail Jalapeno Sashimi was excellent!
The bar took an extremely long time for the drinks. The waitress kept checking, but they took over 15 minutes to make two drinks. They need more bar tenders on Saturday nights.
The food was very good and service was excellent! Love the kids Bento box!
Brought my 6 year old grandson for first time. He wore his Kona Grill tee shirt & his meal was free. The server was thoughtful to the little guy & your sushi chefs were so kind to Caiden when we went to thank them for the orange 🍊 bear they created. Well done Kona Grill.
Great sushi and the outdoor seating was nice, A little loud for conversation but overall a good experience
