Kona Grill - Woodbridge Ratings and Reviews
Went on Tuesday (the day before Valentines Day) to get the date night offer, but it wasn’t offered. They had a “Valentines Day” listing with some different options for dinner but none of them sparked any interest for the price. We stayed anyway.
I don’t think they read any “special occasions” listed when you make a reservation on open table, as they didn’t even ask for my name when I arrived.
They must have had an issue with their soft drink machine as regular soda tasted like diet or zero calorie. The calamari was chewy. The tomato basil bisque tasted like pure pepper which makes me question if it was fresh or not. The filet, while cooked correctly, lacked in seasoning. The poke bowl was the same as last time.
Our server, Farley, was wonderful and attentive. I wish I could say the same about the food as this was the first bad experience we had. This is normally our go-to date night spot, but no longer.
Thankfully I had a $10 gift card and a free appetizer... otherwise I would have needed to speak to a manager.
Was our first time to Kona Grill. While the staff was pleasant and attentive, the wait time for drinks, appetizers and main courses were long and the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. The food itself was just OK. The appetizer shrimp, while flavorful, were very tiny. The main courses were decent but most disappointing were the desserts. The brownie was dry and the butter cake was not the least bit buttery but more like microwaved cornbread.
Again, the staff was pleasant and tried to manage expectations but doubt we would return.
Nice Saturday night dinner. We enjoyed the food... I really liked the Oriental Salad and Macadamia nut chicken. Service was a little off I think due to a large birthday party in our section but our server was still very nice, just a little busy. Would definitely go again.
Exceptionally good food and very nice place for celebrating a special occasion. Service was excellent though slow. Waiter was willing to do separate checks for group of 11 and very pleasant about it. Management provided a generous tray of desserts to mark the occasion. Highly recommended overall.
Very attractive decor , above-average food, and fair to good service make this a place I would visit again. I love that the menu has an Asian bent to it, yet it is kid friendly too (my son is the burger or pizza kid who usually nixes most of our choices). All food we tried was fresh and yummy, however one small kink was that my husbands stir fry portion was very small, so he had to order some sushi afterwards. The bar area was really nice so next time I would stop in to eat or drink there for a different vibe. Overall, casual, local spot that I am going to add to my family-night out list for sure.
Self Seating was a little weird. Service was slow. Our server was a step behind us at all times. Bar drinks took a long time and weren't as described on the cocktail list. Ordered a Cucumber Southside , that had no cucumber or mint and was basically just club soda. Food was great! Yellowtail Jalapeno Sashimi was excellent!
Brought my 6 year old grandson for first time. He wore his Kona Grill tee shirt & his meal was free. The server was thoughtful to the little guy & your sushi chefs were so kind to Caiden when we went to thank them for the orange 🍊 bear they created. Well done Kona Grill.
The hostess was not very cooperative with my daughter arrived 10 minutes before I did even though she explain to them that I was in traffic and I would be there within 10 minutes. When I arrived they seem to be more concerned about their social media on their phones and had me stand at the concierge's counter for five minutes. I found that the bar is not consistent I ordered a cosmopolitan 2 times and each one with me differently no consistency I asked for certain items when I was given my entrée and never received them. I want time experience is all I need to turn me away from poor service. I would not recommend this place to any of my associates.
Our party of four found the service to be marginal and slow, for the most part. Our waiter seemed totally disinterested and he didn't contribute to the evening in any way. I would not recommend ordering steaks, as they simply couldn't get them right. It seems like this could be a decent location, but it seems the indifferent level of service blanketed the entire experience. I might try it again sometime, but I'm not rushing back.
Food always delicious. BUT..... took along time to get a server to come to us even though we were told to just take a seat wherever . THEN.... took awhile to get our drinks. We ordered and after that all was fine . I couldn't understand since the restaurant was not at all busy.
