I understand the protocols,
Outside dining was amazing and warm. I was pleasantly surprised.
Server did not seem like he wanted to be there.
Was bummed they were not allowed to serve alcohol.
Overall, I love this place. But on Sunday, it was very different than it normally is.
Food was excellent, heaters worked well with keeping us warm.
Great food ! Very enjoyable
We absolutely froze. So needless to say the food was cold.
Great food, great service. No alcohol but we were given a heads up
The food was very good. The biggest problem was I hadn’t finished my plate and with all the music playing and the masks it was hard to hear the server while he was cleaning the table. I assumed he took my still full plate to put in a to go container but instead it took it to throw out. I was very disappointed in that cause I really wanted it. I just assumed it would have been brought back to me.
The outside tent was very cold. It was one big tent that was open on all sides with heaters around. But depending on the weather you can hardly feel the heat coming.
Like I said above. The music was very very loud it was hard to hear anyone right in front of us especially considering the tent was open and all you’d hear is passing cars.
The food is excellent. Was a little disappointed they could not serve drinks due to not having a permit for their outdoor tent.
No portable heaters. To keel food wamer longer they should have served food in takeout containers. Wait staff wad excellent. The management should have indicated on their website that alcoholic drinks would not be served.
Love the food and service, not a fan of the patio dining. Kona grill is trying to make the best of their situation, but the outdoor heaters were a hit or miss and drinks could not be served on the patio.
Nice considering dining outside
Stay in a tent that was freezing and no alcohol being served
the tent was very cold and there was no alcohol sales available , it would have been nice to know that prior
It was a good experience. The staff was nice and cheery for having to work outside all day. Food was good.
Thank you so much for your review and visit with us here at Kona Grill. Let us know what we can do in the future to earn a 5 Star review!
Outdoor seating only. No heaters. Tent walls pulled back, fully open. Left after 3 minutes because of the freezing cold set up.
Great service, delicious food, would come back when indoor dining opens.
Your FB advertises alcoholic beverages, even with the current outdoor dining situation. Drove all the way out there for my husbands bday to be told they couldn’t be served. We went for a birthday cheers. Be consistent. Don’t advertise something on Facebook that you are unable to serve.
Good food.we sat outside under a tent and shared appetizers.
They had a few heaters that heated your feet only
Very Insufficient compared to other restaurants in the area.
Thank you so much for coming to visit us, unfortunately due to the state regulations we must have two walls fully open. We have recently brought in more heaters to combat the cold and attempt to keep our guests more comfortable. We appreciate your review and your loyalty to Kona Grill!
Bummed they couldn’t serve alcohol but I felt safe dining here
The food here is great! I just did not like that they had all of the tent flaps completely open. I believe the regulations said only two sides needed to be open. The tent was very long and not very wide. they could have left the short parts open and the long parts closed. It was pretty cold. But the food was still great!
Food was terrible. 2 cups that we received were dirty.
We were given fish tacos when we ordered shrimp, took another 15 minutes to get food.
A bad experience from a restaurant I used to love going to!
Dined in open Tent due to CoVid19. We very much appreciated the service and food.
It is understood why the Tent needs to be opened so much and only recommendation is to add another 1 or 2 heaters.
Food was delicious, Poke Bowl, Avocado Egg Rolls and Avocado Roll -- presentations were great and tasty. Dessert was a wonderful rich carrot cake and it was not overdone with the frosting.
Food was great. Service was good. What’s up with no liquor license? Heat lamps would have made all the difference in the world.
Let people know when they make a reservation that you have NO beverage service. Outdoor tent was useless and dirty. Service could have been better and faster and food prices outrageous for the atmosphere.
First time eating out after ages. Enjoyed the dinner with family. Izzy did a wonderful job and food was delicious.
The food was great as usual. Glad it wasn’t to cold out. The heaters worked well. The snow was falling.
Food is good, The tents are open but they have a very good heating near tables.
Sushi was outstanding and Lisa was an amazing server!
New Year's Eve
We celebrated NYE 2020 at Kona Grill. Sat outside in an open air tent due to the pandemic. It was nice to have a semblance of normalcy to close out 2020.
Found 1 hour before that they could not serve alcohol! On NY Eve was disappointed
I appreciate Kona trying to stay open during this difficult time as our Governor isn’t allowing indoor seating. The tent was nice but with it being slightly cold and traffic near by, it was just ok. Our table wobbled so we had to keep our foot on one end so some sauces didn’t slide off the plates. My steak was over cooked. I asked for medium but got well done and I don’t understand why you would put a steak on a wood plank and not a plate? It was difficult to cut due to that. The staff was great and they’re doing their best to keep their jobs. Thank you!
Waiter was not very effective, and Kona failed to inform us that they would not be serving alcohol when we made the reservation.
We knew we would be cold eating outside but had no idea just how cold. Even though we were right next to a heater we couldn’t feel it, and they couldn’t close the sides of the tent against the wind. We ordered hot tea and soup but it was cold after a few minutes. Plus the traffic noise was so loud we had a hard time hearing each other. The server wasn’t around much ( probably staying warm inside) so we had to wait quite awhile for our bill. Definitely won’t be back until indoor seating is allowed.
I do enjoy the food. I completely understand out COVID restrictions but was extremely disappointed in the location of the tent and was terribly cold inside. No alcohol to be served either. The tent was open and right by an intersection. I do understand I chose to eat outside but this was the worst experience by far. I have many pleasant “tent” meals. I never ate so fast with my two children for the money we were paying. Trying to support but nope not here.
The staff did their best to make us comfortable since it was an open tent. The only thing that was disappointing was that they couldn't serve alcohol. Other than that it was ok. The food was good. We will not be dining like that again. It was an experience though.
Extremely cold and uncomfortable
However the service was outstanding.
Awful- we left. We understand COVID restrictions make it tough to operate, but if our experience last night was an indication of how Kona is operating on a daily basis it’s not worth offering outside dining. First, we were not aware that they would not be able to serve alcohol... beware of that because it’s not listed on Open Table in their reservation notes; apparently the only way I would have known this is if I called in our reservation. The tables are spaced completely appropriately in the tent... you feel very safe. However- the table we were originally seated at had no heat close to it. Finally, we didn’t even see a server for a solid 15 minutes... about 30 seconds before we decided we had enough and left. We will be back- we love Kona Grill- but it won’t be until dining returns to normal. We really wanted to support them.
We knew about that there was no alcohol and that we would be outside in a tent. This was fine. What I didn’t realize was how cold that tent would be. With all the walls open, it gave the same coverage as an umbrella would. The heaters were on the outside and were blowing lukewarm air on our feet. We ended up taking our food to go. It’s a shame because the food and service is good. Please invest in some propane heaters for your customers. We would like to support your wait staff by dining in person, but at this point carry out is the way to go.
